I was moderately disappointed when these came as silicone. Yea, it says it right on the ad. And this is why you shouldn't buy anything after midnight from your iphone 5. But when I tried them out, I was pleasantly surprised how well they apply makeup. The masacara shield doesn't work to save its life, hence the 4 stars - at least not for my shaped eyes. It does not hold a lot of product, so you have to go back and fourth when applying eye shadow. But they do wipe clean and I can go from color to color pretty easily. You can be very precise with your application. You can use eye shadow as eyeliner pretty easily with tools in this set. I really love that I can clean these and reuse them a lot easier than brushes. I get less fall out under the eye area so I have not needed the shield, but its good to have I guess. I like that I don't need to use disposable applicators or clean brushes and I can pick and use any color. It doesn't waste product either and it doesn't create lots of loose powder. Great for close-up makeup application around eyes instead of traditional brushes. Interesting concept. Not stiff or unflexing, strangely enough.

I use these to apply the Danessa Myricks multichrome eyeshadows (per her recommendation on YouTube) The silicone brushes help spread the colors out much better than a regular eyeshadow brush. Good Deal for the price for sure!
