  • The Perfect Keyboard
Size: Pack of 1
I bought this keyboard solely to use with my Amazon Fire TV as I use it to make navigating Kodi and web browsing a ton easier (requires a rooted Fire TV for the web browser) you'll also need a keyboard to install a custom recovery to the Fire TV and since I didn't have one I bought a junky, wired one at Walmart and after seeing this wireless keyboard with a touchpad for only another $10 I took the wired back and ordered this. Since it's Logitech you know you're getting a solid device that works well for a great price. I've been using a Logitech wireless mouse with my laptop but could have used this keyboard when I had my laptop connected to my TV which I no longer need since I have a Fire TV. I assume it can also be used with other internet streaming boxes as long as they have a USB port and recognize USB devices. This keyboard is truly plug and play as it worked immediately with my laptop after plugging in the USB receiver and was the same case with the Fire TV. The only drawback with that is I couldn't even use the Logitech "Mouse and Keyboard Settings" with this keyboard as I thought I could use it to map keys and adjust the touchpad sensitivity (which you'll notice is up pretty high and can be all over the place) but no matter what I tried I couldn't get it to show up yet my Logitech mouse would. Maybe this keyboard isn't able to have it's settings modified. The shortcut keys and Windows function keys are a nice addition and surprisingly most work with the Fire TV (such as the Home button, the Sleep button, and function key actions.) The keyboard is sturdy yet light weight, has a nice sleek design, the batteries haven't needed changed yet, and the key presses feel good. The only slight con is the keys are a bit smaller than what I'm used to so I do make more errors although I don't type correctly to being with so for other people this might not be as much of an issue. There is a reason so many people use this keyboard, it does everything you need and works with just about everything. So if you need either a wireless keyboard or mouse you might as well just buy this keyboard and have 2 for 1, and paired with a dedicated Logitech wireless mouse you basically have the perfect setup for whatever you need to do. ... show more

  • A very good wireless keyboard for Windows Media Center or a Smart TV
Size: Pack of 1
When I first got this and tested it with one of my Smart HDTV's I was very disappointed and thought I would have to send it back. I sat 6' in front of my HDTV, and it didn't work reliably. What a letdown after all the reviews I'd read saying how good it was. Then I decided to plug the very small dongle into a short (about 14") USB extension cable so that it hung down just under the frame of my HDTV. What a difference! (The Logitech dongle came with a 1-5/8" extender, but it was not long enough to make any difference in the operation of the Smart TV). I had no problem at all with intermittent operation and unexpected mouse movements. Apparently there is some shielding or metalized layers in the flat screen that were shielding the RF from the very small dongle. Where previously it would not work at all when sitting on my lap and only worked when I held it up in the air, now it works fine no matter where I position it. I have a Windows 7 Media Center computer connected to the same HDTV, so next I plugged the dongle into that. It's the best wireless keyboard I've tried so far in that configuration, and I decided to leave it installed there, as I was not very enthused about the web-surfing capabilities of my Smart TV- the on-screen keyboard pops up when I start using the wireless keyboard, which I find annoying, and there is no way to turn it off; also, the Smart TV's response time is slower than my Win 7 Media Center computer, and the resolution of the web pages can't be changed, and is too low-res for my preference. Not the fault of the keyboard. I like it so much I'll be buying a couple more for Win 7 MC computers in other rooms. I can't give you a good report on the range of this keyboard at this time, as I normally sit within 10' of my computers... I have found that these rf wireless keyboards (not bluetooth) do not have great range... even though they usually advertise about 28'-31', I've not seen them totally reliable beyond about 20'. I've found that bluetooth keyboards have longer range, but also have the disadvantage of not being available for use until after the computer has booted up the operating system because they depend on device drivers being loaded, whereas RF keyboards like this Logitech are available at boot time, so if you have a dual boot computer or need to go into BIOS to make some changes, they will work for these functions, unlike the bluetooth keyboards that need to have a wired keyboard plugged in to allow these operations. I've been using a Perixx Periboard 710 keyboard up until now for Windows 7 Media Center, but the mouse pad is way too sensitive and the built in gesture function doesn't work well, can't be turned off, and frankly just gets in my way. The Logitech mouse pad is not overly sensitive and I've very pleased with the way it works. The Logitech is slightly larger than the Perixx keyboard, but the bigger keys make typing much easier. Sorry, Perixx, it's time for an early retirement. ... show more
