I also have the previous version Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX. The old MX is still a great mouse, especially at the reduced price it's selling for now. It does have a few shortcomings though; for instance: I'm loathed to buy AA and AAA batteries for anything in my house anymore (I don't understand why everything isn't USB rechargeable) and it only works with Logitech's Unifying dongle. So when I upgraded laptops to one who's manufacturer thought a single USB port is plenty (Ahem, Microsoft) a few months ago, I purchased the Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse T630 to keep in my laptop bag. The advantages were two-fold; first the T630's Bluetooth pairing meant I didn't have to dedicate my only USB port to a mouse full-time, and secondly, it was USB rechargeable, so I knew if it was ever out of power I could just charge it, rather than having to go on a quest for more AA batteries. This didn't work out quite as well in practice though. While super-portable, isn't exactly comfortable to use for hours at a time, and it was a bit tricky to get the gestures to work on a surface that also moves around. Also, it only paired over Bluetooth; it didn't work with Logitech's Unifying receivers at all, so that's something to keep in mind. Finally, the USB charging port is on the bottom, so it's impossible to use while charging. It only takes 10 or 15 minutes to get a day's use out of it, but this was still annoying. The MX Anywhere 2 is the best of both worlds, plus some. To start with, it's the same size, shape, and feel as the old MX, with the exception of the rubber grip strips on the sides. The old MX has small uniform dimpling, while the MX 2 has angled textures which I like both the look and feel of much better. Some may find it on the small side for a primary mouse, but I find it quite comfortable in both the right and left hand (important for a lefty) for all day use, and it's still small enough to throw in the laptop bag without adding too much bulk. I certainly notice the bulged in the bag now, unlike the super-slim T630, but it's definitely a trade-off worth making for the added comfort and functionality. Secondly, the MX 2 is USB rechargeable, with the port right in the front so it can easily be used while charging. This means I can just leave it plugged in and use it all day at my desk, then take it with me on the go, and it's always topped up and ready, or if I need to I can charge it from my laptop without interrupting my work. Finally, the MX 2 pairs with up to 3 separate devices in any mix of Bluetooth or Unifying dongle, and switch between them with the push of a button. This is fantastic for laptops and tablets which often include only a paucity of USB ports these days, as well as Android devices (though apple still doesn't have basic cursor support for ios; tisk, tisk...). The only negative I've found in the MX 2 is a pet peeve of mine. Included in the package is a Unifying dongle, which is great. In the old MX, there was a slot in the battery compartment where you could store the dongle when not in use so it doesn't get lost. The MX 2 doesn't have a removable battery, so there's no battery compartment, and Logitech didn't think to put a slot somewhere else to store the dongle. That's it, that's the only thing I can find that I don't like about this mouse; you have to keep track of that little Unifying dongle on your own. I highly recommend this mouse to anyone, though the old MX is still a worthy option for about half the price. ..If buying AA batteries once in a while doesn't offend you, and you have a USB port to spare, or are already using a Unifying receiver for other peripherals.

-All-around great mouse for a moderate-to-high price for the personal computer or home office. (better price on the big A than the list price) I bought this mouse as an upgrade to the previous version of this mouse, Logitech Wireless Anywhere Mouse MX for PC and Mac. - I use the mouse primarily for web applications and desktop publishing. I am not a big gamer and I know there are dedicated mouses out there for that, so I suspect this mouse may not fit the bill. My fiance is the proud recipient of the old mouse (she was stealing mine frequently). - The key differences between older model, which is $28.69 on Amazon at time of this writing, are Bluetooth compatibility and charging via included micro-USB which works in pass through mode, so if the battery runs out, it works just like a conventional wired mouse without the hassle of removable batteries. - Given that the Logitech brand unifying technology only requires me to have a dongle plugged into a USB port which I am not using anyway (btw, the dongle on the new model is a slimmed-down version of the older one), I am opting to use the unifying dongle and not Bluetooth. I did connect the mouse to my computer's Bluetooth when I first received the mouse and it worked seamlessly out of the box. - The battery was fully charged on arrival and charging worked flawlessly on my powered USB port. I am an android user, so micro USB compatibility is convenient. - As with the previous version, the 'selectable' scroll wheel was a revelation for me. User can choose between 'indexed' scrolling with distinct stops or infinite scrolling simply by pressing down on scroll wheel. In infinite scrolling, the action is smooth and the wheel spins for a long time. On my old model, I have never cleaned or babied the scroll wheel and it spins as well as the day I got it. I would expect similar performance from the new model - There is a 3rd button behind the scroll wheel which brings up all open programs, like pressing Alt-Tab in Windows 10. I use this feature sometimes, but am more of a keyboard shortcuts kinda guy anyway. The forward and back buttons are actuated with the mouse-hand (right only) thumb. I use these seldomly. None of the extra buttons get in the way of normal mousing. - As with the prior model, this mouse will work on nearly any surface and works well enough for all of my applications., glass, lexan, wood with different grain patterns. White patterned polyester carpet was the only surface to partially trip up the sensor, but mousing was still acceptable. - Battery life on the new model so far has been stellar. I have had the mouse x approx 2 wks and only charged the mouse on arrival. Btw, I have not turned off the mouse between uses either, so it is ready to use 24/7. - Ergonomics are same as older model and as good as any mouse I have used before (for the right-handed user only). - Aesthetics are cool and modern, with gunmetal top and sides and gold/brown accents. All surfaces are matte. *-* So far, very pleased with this mouse as I was with the last one. Thoughtful upgrades from the prior, may be worth the extra price, but can't go wrong with older version.

Bought this Logitech MX Anywhere 2 Mouse because it has both USB Wireless and Bluetooth Support. This means if you lose the Logitech Unifying USB plug you can still use the mouse via Bluetooth pairing on your PC or Mac. What they don't tell you is: - There is no place to store the USB plug on the mouse! There really should be an empty space under the mouse for docking the plug into the mouse when not in use! - When you lose your Logitech Unifying 2.4 GHz Pico USB receiver you can buy another one to pair to your mouse for $17 Logitech Unifying receiver for mouse and keyboard The Unifying plug allows up to 6 devices to be paired to it so you can get one for each PC or Mac you connect with. - The mouse will not work when plugged in via Micro USB. You need to do this occasionally to recharge the internal lithium battery. When you go to dispose of the it you'll need to unscrew it and rip out the battery. - It works out of the box with my Mac with the USB wireless receiver plug or with the MicroUSB connector. Pairing with BlueTooth requires entering a crazy pairing code of: 00-00-00-00-00-00 - The button under the mouse lets you toggle between three different paired devices. Blinking white LED means unpaired, solid means connected. - The ON/OFF switch has no label, just a hint of green for on and red for off. Be sure to turn off when you toss in your laptop bag! Logitech Feature Requests (I hope Logitech reads these): - Please add the orange UNIFYING logo to the bottom of the mouse. Right now it is only on the receiver. If users saw this on the mouse they'd know it was compatible with your 6 device 2.4ghz receiver when they lose the plug. - Please Please add a receptacle on the bottom of the mouse for holding the Unifying Pico 2.4 Ghz receiver! There is no excuse for helping users to store this inside the mouse, especially since you advertise this as an anywhere travel mouse. - Please release a carrying bag for this mouse that can comfortably store the mouse, the Micro USB charge cable and the unifying receiver. - Please make it easier to use the mouse when tethered to it's micro USB cable. It's hard to tell when it is charged (blinking green means what?). When I have to recharge and I can't seem to get the Mac to recognize your mouse as a USB mouse it sucks! Make it connect like Apple's Magic Track Pad where it can charge and work at the same time. If you can't, you might as well as put the Micro USB port on the belly of the mouse so users could figure out it doesn't work when charging (like Apple's Magic Mouse). If you supported USB tethering you could tout 3 methods of connecting: USB Wired, USB 2.4GHz wireless and BlueTooth! - Label the On/Off switch. Consider putting it on top of the mouse so I don't forget to turn it off when I toss it into my laptop bag. Sucks travelling with a mouse that is on and finding it dead when I get to my destination. - Consider adding a spot for a USB memory stick that contains the Logitech drivers for this mouse so I can easily install it? - Create an iOS and Android app so users can use it with their smartphone's BlueTooth. - Let users use MicroUSB and USB Type C adapters to connect the Logitech MX Anywhere 2 wireless USB receiver to the next generation of devices (MacBook, Android tablets, etc). Excellent mouse. I have been using MX Anywhere first version for long time (now my daughter have it). I decided to go for MX Anywhere 2 especially because of Bluetooth connectivity - didn't want to "waste" one of the USB ports for wireless transmitter. I have MacBook Pro late 2014 - using Bluetooth I have mouse connected immediately. Some reviewers claimed that were not able to connect via Bluetooth. If you are not sure if your laptop Bluetooth will recognize this mouse, just go Logitech website: [...] and on the bottom of this page you can see "Knowledge Base". First topic in base is called "Check for Bluetooth Smart support for the MX Anywhere 2 mouse on your computer". Click this link and before you will decided to buy mouse, just follow the steps. Download Logitech Options software and follow steps as described on website. It will try virtually setup Bluetooth device and if you have everything ok then you can buy the mouse - it will work. If not, still you can contact Logitech to find out what could be the problem or just save some money and buy MX Anywhere first version. Pros: - Perfect grip, your really "feel" this mouse in your hand. I have been using Apple magic Mouse but even after one year still don't feel so comfortable like before with MX Anywhere. Apple Magic is good mouse but I haven't have such a good grip as on the MX Anywhere or MX Anywhere 2 - Download software from Logitech website and you can easy setup gestures and assign different functions to all the button or even movement of the mouse. Software available for both Windows and iOS. You can also adjust speed of "free wheel" - very nicely finished, I would say a little better looking then previous version - rechargeable battery (no more searching for spare AA battery - working on ANY surface without the problem - you can pair with 3 devices for example with your laptop and if you are using Bluetooth then put wireless received in your for example home or work desktop and pair this mouse with it just select 2 or 3 on the bottom. - smaller size then normal regular mouse, but comfortable for person with bigger hands as well as for women or even kids. Cons (not really "buy stoppers" in my opinions): - As many noticed and find it to be important, there is no carry case / paunch - I don't understand why Logitech didn't include this in package. MX Anywhere 2 fits perfectly in paunch of previous version. I just use another small paunch which I have left from some other equipment. - Wireless transmitter - there is no space / slot to store it inside the mouse as it was in previous version - not a big deal for me as I'm using Bluetooth. I just keep it at home (have spare transmitter for my home desktop keyboard and mouse :-))) Looking all the Pros and Cons I still think that this mouse deserves 5 stars. It is excellent product, providing working comfort and good grip, literally working on ANY surface (even tested on my jeans using mouse on my leg when seating outside with laptop), perfect look of this mouse, and possibility to use with Bluetooth with additionally plug in wireless receiver to put in your home PC or Mac and use with them. Wheel working perfectly (two working mode - normal and fast scrolling) and with Logitech software you can really make this mouse working as you want including gestures on Windows and iOS. I'm fully recommend this mouse for anybody working on the laptop and like to use mouse. If you don't have Bluetooth then still you can go for MX Anywhere first version still available on Amazon at half price of MX Anywhere 2.

Pros: -Better than the MX Anywhere (v1) -Amazing, best mouse I've ever tried -Actually good for gaming -Small footprint -Holds a charge for a long time -Never need to replace batteries! -Looks nice -Button doesn't break down/stick like previous version did -Super affordable Cons: -Like most mice these days, the scroll wheel feels a little cheap... but honestly it's much better than other mice I've tried at 2-3x the price I've tried a LOT of mice. A LOT. I went through a phase where I tried every single Logitech mouse, bought a bunch of Razer's, tried basic Microsoft mice... plenty of mice have touched my sweet, sweet palm. This one was the best one. Note: I genuinely believe a mouse needs to be for YOU - my hands are different than yours, and I have a style of holding my mouse which might be different from yours. So let me describe my hands, which is kind of weird and creepy but hopefully helpful, and then I'll explain how I hold a mouse. My hands are probably medium size, for a male, but I have long fingers and my hands and fingers are thin. People always call them "pianist's fingers" or "guitarist's fingers", and as it so happens I do play several musical instruments! When I hold a mouse, I do the following: -I place the tips of my fingers on the buttons -I arch my fingers up vs. resting them on the mouse -My palm does not touch the mouse -I rest my wrist on my desk For me, this mouse is amazing. I loved the MX Anywhere, and I actually like this better (I think the shape/size is the same but the texture feels a little nicer to me). I went through THREE MX Anywhere mice, all which had the fatal "left button sticks/stops working" issue. I had just burned through my 3rd one and was using a pretty solid Anker mouse, but it left something to be desired... when this bad boy got announced. I figured, what did I have to lose? And you know what? Best [mouse related] decision I ever made. I've had it for quite a while now and it's still going strong. I mostly keep it plugged in, but the charge lasts a while when it's wireless. I would easily go like 2 weeks or so and then all of a sudden I'd have a dead mouse and I'd be like "WHAT? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN??!!" Earth-shattering.. but not really, because as soon as you plug it in it starts working again. Anyway, I actually found for gaming having a wired mouse helps my control more, so I keep it plugged in. Oh, and that's the last note - it's a pretty solid mouse for gaming. No, it doesn't have a millions buttons, but I can map 2 additional buttons on the side and that's all I ever seem to need for the games I play. The accuracy is solid so games like BF4 or other FPS games are not rage inducing. I honestly will be so sad when this thing goes. I hope it's with me forever... and ever... and ever...

You may see reviews that say great mouse, feels AMAZING in your hand, so much functionality etc. but don't buy . . . NO MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON on the scroll wheel!!! YES, all of these things are true, and if your buying a mouse like this you most likely have at least one program where the MMB on the scroll wheel is absolutely key . . . a must have for your UI . . .no fear, this mouse can be reprogrammed as described in the bullets on the product details page. Simply download and install Logitech Options from their website, install, turn on your mouse and the software instantly recognizes your super cool Logitech device. NO, you can not bring the middle mouse button back to pushing vertically on the scroll wheel, alternatively it has TWO buttons that can be customization to do just about any function you would ever need and more (see pics) I made the "left" scroll wheel button (push scroll wheel to the left) my MMB and there's literally no change in how it feels when pressing left opposed to down. In fact, it's better and more efficient! You can make your MMB a simple push of the scroll wheel to the left, right, or both! By default it seems the "Gesture Button" (located directly behind scroll wheel) is the MMB in a program where normally pushing down on the scroll wheel/MMB acts as an accept/Ok button to end a command or maybe a single click etc. I was not at all comfortable with reaching back off the wheel to press this button to the point I was ready to return this mouse until I simply reprogrammed it with the free software. One last thing, the GB does have great all day use. While pressing it down, drag the mouse left, right, up or down to execute any number of custom commands like scrolling through open windows across your desktop, Cortona, Start menu . . . WHATEVZ YOU WANT :_ BUY! BUY! BUY!

I've been a loyal Logitech customer since early 90s, but as much as I wanted to like this mouse, it's a big disappointment. Here's my assessment: Pros: 1. Feels nice in the hand, good ergonomics. 2. Can be used on all surfaces 3. Bluetooth. Cons: 1. Logitech is now switching to 1 year warranty? I wish I knew before I ordered. Here's why it's a big deal. Somewhere in mid 2000s Logitech switched to new type of microswitches in their mice. These microswitches fail after 1-1.5 years of daily use. How do I know? I have a box full (no I am not exaggerating) of Logitech mice with broken left mouse button. Every single Logitech mouse I had in the last 10 years developed a left (sometimes right) click problem. Every single one, and I probably had 10-12 in that period. I also have a couple of mice from early 2000s that still work just fine. This is not the quality I would like to see in a premium product but it was OKeish while Logitech had a generous 3 year warranty. I had each mouse replaced once or twice under such warranty. While it was inconvenient, I felt I got my money's worth. Now, with a 1 year warranty, paying $60+ for a mouse that will be dead in 18 months feels like a ripoff. 2. Mouse wheel press acts not as a third button, but to switch between ratchet and smooth scrolling. There is a button behind the wheel that can be configured as a third button, but the mouse wheel press cannot be configured as the third button. Really, Logitech? Whose bright design decision was that? This is opposite of the way every other mouse works out there, including other Logitech mice. I remind you, this is a laptop (i.e. secondary mouse). So the idea is I have to break muscle memory every time I switch between mice or laptop and desktop? 3. I thought we were way past loosing mice receivers or trying to figure out which one goes with which mouse. Even cheap 10 dollar mice allow you to store a receiver inside. For a travel mouse it's virtually a requirement. But in this new and "improved" model, Logitech decided to get rid of the storage compartment. Why? I am dissatisfied with the design decisions of this mouse and very sad to see where Logitech is headed with quality and and warranties. I will be returning this mouse and looking at other alternatives.

I’m writing this review in response to the other posted reviews. This is my 1st Darkfield mouse and it has been operating extremely well for 10 months (at the time of this review) I’ve used this mouse for school/work/gaming - primarily on my laptop (ASUS Flip TP300LD-DB71T-CA) consistently with bluetooth. Never had the dreaded double click, any errors with the scroll wheel, nor any connection that I could place fault on the mouse. I usually charge up my mouse maybe weekly depending on use, and definitely the night before critical events such as mid-terms, finals, & presentations. I have yet to experience an dead/empty battery. I attribute the success to the fact that initially I turned the box wrapper into a case, then purchased a dedicated mouse case shortly after (Which was for a Logitech M710) and then later Hermitshell made a dedicated case for the Logitech Anywhere Mouse 1 & 2 (which I’m currently using) The logic here is that this is a premium mouse and if simply thrown into laptop bag or backpack exposes the components to unintended wear and tear, thus increasing the risk of hardware failure. But now I’m just blaming the poor judgement of other customers -without doing research nor investigation. And honestly I’d like to hear the opinion of someone who treated this mouse like a pair of gym sneakers, and got such results. Oddly when users recommend the previous MX Anywhere Mouse (The 1 that includes a case) there are similar reports of hardware failures on that mouse as well. When I bought this mouse for roughly $80 & I made additional purchases of roughly $25 for two mouse cases, which brings my total bill to $105 - with no technical problems Another user who purchased this mouse but then had to replace it with an equivalent, at this point has spent maybe $140 ~ $160 and is experiencing problems (maybe even now) Additionally I would like to hear the opinion of a user who killed an original MX Anywhere & and an Anywhere 2. Can they even still find their case? I do not recall Logitech advertising that this mouse would have the precision of a Katana Sword, the durability of Thor’s Hammer, and the processing speed of NASA. But I would like to point out Katana Blades are sheathed in a case.
