I purchased the junior professional model for my granddaughter who plays trumpet and French Horn! I thought she would be delighted. This DOES come with a 7C mouthpiece as stated. However, the circumference of the 7C is exactly the same as the circumference of where the mouthpiece is to be inserted into the bugle (which of course means, it cannot be used!) Does this mean I did not actually get the junior professional bugle which is supposed to go with that mouthpiece? If you have no mouthpiece, you cannot play! I have not located a bugle mouthpiece. My granddaughter's French horn mouthpiece will go into the bugle, but does not make a perfect seal. I do not know if we are going to find a way for her to actually play this bugle! We will be checking with her band director when school is back in session! I notified him. I have directed bands, but have never had the opportunity to interact with a bugle. I still think it would be great fun for her, but only if she can find a mouthpiece that will allow her to play it accurately. Most persons who have written reviews have not specified which of the 3 options they purchased. I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that the mouthpieces which did not fit or the difficulties making sounds were possibly due to the bugles sold that were specified for display or outdoor activities. Were these purchased by professionals? A professional brass player would already have an embouchure which would be an advantage. However, s/he would not be able to play without a mouthpiece which fit the bugle. A 7C mouthpiece is advertised with this so I am amazed that the bugle will not accommodate it. I was not prepared to have to search for and buy a mouthpiece for this "Professional Cavalry Bugle Military Orchestra" Grade ADD ON: I contacted the seller about not having a mouthpiece that fits the bugle thinking he would help with a solution! His response: "They match. If you think they don't match, you can return or replace them. Thank you!" He apparently is unfamiliar with his own stock. They match? If you call holding a mouthpiece against a matching sized hole rather than being able to insert it into the instrument to play a "match," you certainly do not understand how a brass instrument works. The seller should pull one of these from his inventory and learn WHY the mouthpiece cannot be inserted. Disappointed with a purchase I thought was going to be a delightful Christmas present for my brass player granddaughter. Additional Add on: In an effort to make this work, we made a trip to the music store. They really tried to help us. They each tried to find solutions. The owner used his precision measuring device to get the exact size needed for a mouthpiece. They searched the catalogue. There was no mouthpiece designed for this circumference--not one was available for a bugle. The 7C did not have enough material in it to be able to "shave" it to fit. Then, although this is advertised as a BRASS instrument, we learned it is not. Had it been brass, the store could have done the special heating needed to be able to expand the insertion point for the mouthpiece. Heating the material in this bugle would cause it to crack. It goes back tomorrow. I regret it may be resold to some person hopeful of being able to play a bugle. ... show more

Smaller than I was expecting, but it can make notes. It's like a piccolo trumpet as compared to a regular trumpet. The pitch is much higher than a standard bugle for bugle calls. My lips are horribly out of shape, so intonation isn't exactly great in that range. With some practice I could see this being fine for what it is, an inexpensive bugle for summer camp or scouts. I don't think I would attempt to play taps at a funeral with it though. ... show more

I recently joined the Honor Guard for the sheriff's officer I wotk for and found that we have no one to play Taps live at funerals. I decided the try to learn and present this skill to the sergeant once I am good enough. This bugle came with multiple dents all over, but it works fine. I didn't expect much more for the price. When I can play better, I'll invest in a better bugle. ... show more

I love this horn and do not want to return due to the perfect pitch. Was a bit disappointed that the bell was bent.
