We bought a much larger bike (based on his height) for my son’s 5th birthday. He didn’t know how to handle it and it was a discouraging experience. At 48” he had far outgrown his balance bike but it was too big a jump to the bike we had purchased. This balance to pedal bike may be a bit small for him but I wish we had bought this months ago! It took him two days to be pedaling independently. It’s heavy for a balance bike so I would not recommend this for a 2-3 yr old. But it’s absolutely perfect for a 3.5-5 yr old (6 if the child is on the smaller side). The pedals fold in a bit clumsily sometimes, but it’s worth a bit of hassle to not have to disassemble and reassemble or switch back and forth between two different bikes. I wish the seat had a bit more height but that’s really my only complaint ... show more

The tires are slippery plastic with no tread...the peddles are a pain to switch from balance to peddle. Otherwise, cute

    • Best of both types, but compromises
Bike is easy to switch between balance bike and pedal bike. As a pedal bike, the pedals are too easy to change where they don't rotate. This frustrates a new rider. You have to just twist them back so they can rotate, but maybe another lock pin to prevent them from changing modes. Tires could be better and I don't see them lasting too long. They also seem to be more slippery than traditional rubber tires. ... show more
