My German Shepherds like to dig in their water bowls and knock them over, leaving them with no water when I'm not home. This bucket hooks on the dog cage and refills automatically. My dogs still put their muddy feet in the bucket, but manually dumping it every day and refilling, keeps it mostly clean

Reliable and sturdy-perfect for horses

This unit has enough water for a horse so the water stay fresh but not so much that insects breed in it. Birds like it as well.

The media could not be loaded. I am using this for 4 large dogs at the moment, but plan on installing more in the barn. This is a great bucket. The filler system works perfectly and is easy to adjust for water height. Installations was 15 minutes. The only thing I don't get is why there is no drain.
As it bolts into the wall (or onto a fence) not having one makes it impossible to clean. So I came up with a solution. First I tried the Mudder PVC Spigot Rain Barre Faucet Kit 3/4 Inch Rain Barrel Valve with Bulkhead Fitting Adapter for Water Tanks, Aquariums, Tubs, Pools (3/4 Inch, Grey with Green) by Honoson (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y7XPPVR/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_cEr.Eb5NZV6H2) The Spigot worked great but was too long to put on the bottom for my placement (could definitely work for livestock height) and placing it on the side left about 1.5" of water in the bottom when emptying. Attempt #2 worked perfectly. I used: 1. Lifegard Aquatics 1-1/2-Inch Standard Threaded Bulkhead (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002HBL9A/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_jBr.Eb9TC7F3S) 2. StopShroom Tub 2 Pack Universal Stopper for Bathtub and Bathroom Sink Drains, Black Plug 2pk, 2 Count (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MVVGZ9N/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_tCr.EbFNK45F0) Works like a charm and the dogs love it and the kids don't hate to clean it.

reliable and tamper-proof

My priorities for an automatic waterer were 1) needed to be reliable so I could leave it unattended as my horses' only water supply, and 2) my nosey and curious horses wouldn't mess with it and/or break it. This waterer has met both of my goals perfectly. The horses began using it immediately - no re
luctance at all. And they haven't yet figured out how to break it, although they have nothing but time on their hands. Also, the optional rubber drain plug makes it really easy to drain and clean - something I didn't really think about until after I installed it, and I'm glad to have that feature.

Came with a hose to pipe fitting. I then attached a brass elbow with PEX adapter. About to install on the side of their dog house, we will see how well it performs!

Unclear instructions and leaking hoses

I’ve ordered this twice now, the first time I missed my return window. The hose has leaked on both. The instruction say it’s a 7/8 inch stopper it’s NOT go smaller if you’re going to try and use the RUBBER (not plastic) plug. Very frustrated that the hoses leak. Buy it, it's great! Waters horses without the worry.

So this an awesome product for horses. Our 4 legged monsters broke both our other ones where you just put it on their original trough. They kicked it with their front legs and chewed on it and totally busted them. This one though is great, they can't kick this one because they can't reach and the act
ual waterer is hidden underneath the surface so they aren't tempted to mess with it. The only minor complaint I have with it is that maybe a way to drain it from the bottom and be able to clean it better. Right now it's kind of a pain to unscrew the whole thing or use cups to drain and clean. Long process either way. A plugged drain hole on the very bottom underneath would be perfect. All in all wonderful product though.

Better for dogs than bowls intended for dogs.

I bought a self watering dog bowl previously. It wasn’t much less money, but it was cheap. Plus it leaked. So I started looking for something heavier duty for livestock and found this watering bucket. The piece of hose it came with was junk. It sprayed right from the middle of the fitting. Swapped it
with another hose I have and it was great. There is a drain plug included. But it’s just a rubber stopper and you have to drill a hole in the bottom. Deducted a star because of the included hose spraying from the fitting.

Mounted to a chain link fence with a few peices of scrap wood and has held up to 3 50lb+ dogs haven't had to clean it yet but it did come with a stopper if you decide to drill a drainage hole.

Autofilling reservior for interior plant drip irrigation.

This works great for my 11 big pigs. They try to beat it up but it has held up great. I have it wired to the livestock panel so they can't knock it around. I have not installed the drain plug yet so for now I just bail the dirty water out with a big cup and let it refill.

The quality of connectors are poor and leak. They are non standard hoses so you can't replace them with an off the shelf hose.
