I crocheted with this yarn and found it very easy to work with. Minimal splitting or separating. A nice strong snap with each stitch. Tension is easy to maintain. It really highlights the individual stitches/pattern. I've used nearly a dozen different brands of cotton yarn to crochet with and this one is on the smoother and softer side. In fact, it's so soft that the mason jar cozy I made with it doesn't provide enough grip when I'm holding a full jar of liquid! I would actually use a poorer quality cotton yarn for that to help with the grippy quality. I'd recommend this product for clothes and accessories instead. The mauve color is beautiful and understated, feminine but not girly.

This is 100% (mercerized) 4/medium worsted cotton. It’s intended to have a different texture and is much more durable than conventional cotton yarn without the loss of a nice feel. The feel and look of a higher quality is obvious once you touch a finished piece. Yes, the yarn feels different than standard yarn. It’s supposed to. It’s processed differently for a reason. This particular yarn is perfect for any project that will be used or handled frequently. It is stronger, doesn’t produce heavy lint, doesn’t get fuzzy or pill up, doesn’t split easily, and is more resistant to mildew. It holds its shape better than regular cotton yarn, and withstands many many washes and tumble dries on a medium heat setting. (Don’t use bleach or fabric softener.) I disagree with the reviews that call it “thread” or dk weight. Not true. Yes, there is a dk version of this brand, but it clearly says dk on the front part of the label. The thickness is comparable of an identical piece stitched with standard cotton yarn. The yarn swatches up just as noted on the label: Crochet Gauge (4in x 4in) 14 single crochets x 19 rows using a G-6 (4 mm) crochet hook Knit Gauge (4in x 4in) 20 stitches x 28 rows using #6 (4 mm) knitting needles Photo 1: My current 24/7 yarn stash is from in-store and Amazon purchases over a several month time span. The overall quality and color of yarn is consistent across the board, regardless of where it was purchased from. This stash is ever changing because of the volume of crocheting I do in my spare time. Photo 2: I use a LOT of this yarn to make simple dishcloths/washcloths for charity fundraisers in our local area. They are a hot commodity because of the durability and how they hold their vibrant color for a long time. Definitely better than any store bought dishcloth/washcloth. Honestly, I can’t make them fast enough. If you’re unsure about Lion Brand’s 24/7 cotton yarn or if you’re unfamiliar with mercerized cotton, try a skein. Don’t judge the yarn until you’ve finished the project. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. This is my honest opinion from my personal experience with this product. I bought this to make a scarf and it was just what I was looking for. The skeins were a little small, so it was a little pricey for how much yarn was included, but I was prepared for the small skeins based on the other reviews that I had read. Other than that, the yarn was soft and easy to work with, and the colors were nice and as pictured. It's a great more-sustainable alternative to acrylic yarn.

I was able to get a little something worked up but I wish the skiens had a bit more. I should be happy for what I got because the price was great! I was able to complete a turleneck and a 1/3 of sleeve cuff with one skien. I have 6 more skeins on the way. I hope it's enough to complete the sweater I want to make. Definitely worth a buy. Really easy to work with. Nice color, too.

I used this yarn for potholders/hotpads, which need 100% cotton because acrylic can melt if the pan is very hot. It was very easy to crochet. It's mercerized cotton which seems to make it smoother, softer, and a little more flexible. It machine washes and dries well without losing its shape and it stays soft. The red did not bleed or fade at all in the wash. This yarn seems a bit nicer than the basic cotton yarn.

In short, the yarn itself is easily five stars IF you want a good quality light worsted, 3, DK, etc yarn on the thinner side. But don't get it if its specifically for a project calling for worsted medium weight weight. The three stars is because the yarn isn't close to the weight it claims to be and I wasn't able to use it for my intended project. Upon the yarn arriving it was evident that the skein was indeed smaller that usual despite having a typical 170m length. This wouldn't have been a problem, but the strands were NOTICEABLY thinner than the worsted weight yarn I had been using. Nevertheless, I decided to proceed with my pattern that called for worsted weight yarn and a 3.75 mm crochet hook. Using a 3.5 mm hook I began my pattern, but stopped after finishing the base because, as you can see, the gaps were too big for my amigurumi and the filling would be showing. I show some comparisons with other worsted weight yarn I had been using. I'm not a wraps per inch expert so take that photo however you want. The color of the yarn is nice and what I wanted/expected. It is cotton which is of course a little harder on the hands, but it is easier on the hands and smoother than Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn. I agree that it has a nice sheen, especially for cotton. This skein feels pretty hefty for being so small, and this is indeed reflected in how sturdy it is. I would consider this yarn to be soft and comfortable against even my sensitive skin, but it will produce stiffer projects than other soft yarns due to its sturdiness. This yarn DOES NOT split. Perhaps this is because this yarn is made of four strands twisted around each other firmly with each of the four strands being made of two strands twisted together (for an 8 ply?). So Lion Brand 24/7 cotton is a good yarn, but the labeled weight needs to be taken with several grains of salt.
