This review is for the BL01. TLDR: Get them, especially for the current pricing. They are the best value of any IEM I've tried. Not the best IEM, but the best value. King of lo-fi beats. They edge out the BL03 for half the price. Pros: Superb bass Natural sound Unbelievable value Cons: Poorly shaped housing, can't wear for long sessions Bass overpowers on busy tracks (not an "all genre" solution) Cable ear hooks too stiff Comparisons: VS. BL03 This is the one I assume most people will be the most curious about. Comfort was the chief complaint for the BL03, but I find those to be much more comfortable than the BL01. I have small ears, so keep in mind that your experience is more than likely going to be the opposite. Bass is less bloated on the BL01, and the rest of the frequency response sounds slightly less warm, and more natural. Bass on the BL01 is faster, and has better bite. Mids come through clearer and cleaner on the BL01. Treble has a bit more sparkle, and better air. Winner: BL01 VS. Kbear Diamond The highs on the Diamond seem to roll off far sooner than they do on the BL01, making this no contest. The BL01 highs already roll off a bit too early. Kbear really knows how to accessories your purchase though. BLON could learn a thing or two from them. The cable on the Diamond is awesome, braided, soft. The tips are high quality, and there are a multiple sets of various sizes. Kbear's packaging rivals that of the Fiio, at a much lower price. Sure, we care about sound the most, but at least fix the ear hooks on the cable. Diamond is good only for the most treble sensitive. Winner: BL01 VS. TFZ No. 3 The TFZ offers something different than most of your current bassy IEMs on the market. Their sound is exceptionally airy and distant. This can either be very annoying, or intriguing, but still different. The TFZ is worth a try if you're looking for an extended treble that isn't harsh. I personally prefer the more natural signature of the BL01, and the BL01 sub-bass extension is superior by far. No 3 has a lot of mid-bass punch, for those who like mid-bass but dislike the sub-bass rumble. Winner: Slightly BL01, depends on signature preference. VS. MH750 Yep, the budget behemoth. I have heard the MH755 also, but I find the bit of grit in the treble to be unpleasant, and greatly prefer the MH750, so that goes here. Besides, you're here, so you like bass, right? I wasn't sure anything would ever beat the MH750 on value. The MH750 is very similar, but with a little less resolution and detail. If you have the know-how and the patience, you can convert the MH750 to MMCX and get a nice cable, and you have something pretty special. Overall, the BLON BL01 is better out of the box, the way most people will use it. For that reason... Winner: Slightly BL01 VS. Moondrop Starfield I will include this one only because of their popularity, but those are a different beast. If you like a very neutral and natural harman sound signature, with a very subtle and tasteful elevation in the bass, the Starfields are hard to beat. They just do everything well. Just well. They do nothing great. If you're here for the great bass, which I assume you are, this comparison is apples to oranges. If you were going to own another set to complement the BL01, this might be a good choice. Winner: For me, BL01. Depends on your preference. VS. FiiO FH5 I A/B tested them a lot, so we may as well include them, right? Is it an incredibly unfair comparison? Not exactly. But, let's preface by pointing out the FH5 is MORE than ten times the price. It actually took me several days to decide which one I liked better. If you go on crinacle, and compare these units on the frequency response comparison tool, you'll see why. They are very close. But, frequency response charts are really only good for a starting point, and don't really tell you the story. Listening to these back and forth, they sound different in ways the chart doesn't tell the full story about. For one, I get a great seal on both of these, and although the bass measures about the same, the BL01's bass impacts so much harder, and extends much deeper. If you are strictly a basshead, and you can't decide based on the charts, know that the BL01 is superior from a strictly basshead perspective. The issue for me comes with the refinement of the bass. The multiple driver build of the FH5, allowing a dedicated driver for bass, means that the bass rarely compromises other things going on in the track. If a violin is playing with a kick drum banging at the same time, you get a strong bass that leaves every brush of the violin untouched. This means the FH5 is a true "all genre" IEM for bass loving audiophiles who care about more than JUST the bass. Winner: FiiO FH5 So, there you have it, I had to pull out something more than ten times the price in my collection to identify something that's clearly superior. Oh, and just to throw this out there, I know a lot of people listen to lo-fi beats while they work at lower volume. If that's you, look no further. These are the best thing I've tried for that purpose. At lower volume, the bass still hits hard enough feel. I also want to elaborate a little more on a couple of the pros and cons. The bass feels very biocellulose. If you've listened to or owned any of the Fostex/Denon/Emu headphones, you know what I mean. Supposedly, there's nothing that should make them sound distinct from other tech, yet they do. My daily driver is an X00 Ebony, with some mods, and I love them more and more as time goes on. The BL01 bass feels like a relative. The biggest con is, for me, the inability to wear these long-term. The shape is such that it presses hard against one point of my ear when seated properly. I have tried other tips, but I'm not fond of how they change the signature. The cable does this no favors by literally flipping the earbuds toward my ear when I move them into a more comfortable position, due to the overly stuff ear hooks on the cable. The cable is fine otherwise, but so far these are limited to about an hour of wear before they start to become noticeably uncomfortable. BLON, please soften the ear hook material on these cables, and maybe take some inspiration from the FiiO housing design.

The BLON BL-03 came out of nowhere, and it's been at the top of *budget* recommendations lists. Is it worth its price? Is it a "Giant Slayer"? Lets find out. TL;DR - A "Harman-esque" Frequency Response, similar to the Tin T4, but with more bass. More soundstage than Tin T2. Average imaging. Solid build, but meh stock cable and fit is less than perfect. Definitely worth its price. If the T4 is too safe a tuning for you, this brings the low end without sounding off. Packaging, Accessories & Build - A rectangular box, with a clear window to see the headphones on the top half. Comes with the same broken english as in video reviews (Music & Driams). Comes with some silicone tips, and cable. Also, a small velour-style drawstring bag. It's a metal build. It's mirror polished and seems durable. No micro-scratches or anything as of yet. (A month of so of usage). The stock ear-tips were meh, and didn't offer a good fit. If treble is shrill and bass is lacking, it's most likely an issue of seal. Switch your eartips with some known-good tips, whatever your favorites are, and that should solve some problems. Personally, I hate the stock BLON-branded cable and absolutely recommend the replacement from HiFiHear, as it seems to be less prone to untwisting, has less wire memory, and doesn't feature a full nautalis on its earhooks. Sound - You're looking at a "Chop-Top Harman" response, as BGGAR put it. There's a lot of bass impact, but it's not overwhelming. Midrange sounds normal, slight pinna gain, as per usual, but it doesn't have as much of a boost as a pure-Harman FR. Treble is not as energetic as a pure-Harman either. But you still get decent detail retrieval. The Carbon Nanotube Dynamic Driver has a similar issue to the DD in the MH755, in that it doesn't sound completely natural with things like cymbals, but it still sounds quite good to my ears. It's not a technical definition of flat, but it's a bit more of a fun signature than the Tin T4. Conclusions - Ever since using the DSP-corrected iSine LX, I've found that the Harman curve works well for me. The DF-target used by Etymotic and the Massdrop Plus also work well for me. Both give me a hint of soundstage, and decent imaging. Though, the closest my ears has ever come to the "Room with Speakers" ideal, was the iSine LX, the BLON BL-03 is still a darn good IEM. It offers actual outside-your-head soundstage, decent detail retrieval, and a very pleasant sound. While the BL-03 isn't going to replace my MD+, let alone my Andromeda, I do appreciate the added bass over the Tin T4, and I have alternated between the T4, and Sony MH755 as my "beater" IEMs. Honestly, I'll probably keep all three of them since none of them absolutely breaks the bank. While the BL-03 isn't a giant-killer, it's still an entirely competent and fun sounding IEM. If it wasn't for the lackluster cable, somewhat-strange fit, and crap eartips, it would be a definite recommendation over things like the Tin T2, and Moondrop offerings around the same price. In fact, the fit and cable are the only reasons these don't get 5 full stars. Don't get me wrong though, you could spend a lot more for much worse earphones. NOTE: I use the HiFiHear cable, and some Dekoni Bulletz tips on mine. I tried them with Spiral Dot tips, Final Type-E tips, and Mee Audio single flange tips. Out of all of them, the Bulletz are my preferred tips, especially since Dekoni appears to be using a new formula and/or mold as of December 2019. **Disclaimer - Perception of sound and comfort is subjective and my statements above regarding them should be taken as opinion and NOT objective fact. My review shouldn't be a substitute for ears-on time with a product. My ears are not a universal measurement rig, I am human, and I make mistakes.
