Description

High Contrast Linear Polarizing Film featuring excellent extinction ratio and high transmission. Ideal for a range of imaging applications, teaching experiments and more. Available in sheets, can be easily cut with scissors to fit any application need. Linear Polarizing sheets are used in experiments relating to birefringence, light scattering, polarized light experiments, light reflection, Brewster's angle and how polarized sunglasses work. IMPORTANT(!) please note that on both sides there is a protective film sheet. You have to remove it gently before use. Once removed, the polarizer sheet will be revealed, clean and smooth. Common uses: 1. Get two of these (or cut one in half) for an excellent classroom demonstration of aligned and crossed polarization filters. Aligned, two pieces have about the same effect on unpolarized light as one piece. Rotate them and at 90 degrees, no light passes through (quite black). 2. Great for taking the glare off tattoos for photos 3. Use this to dim a LCD screen that has no brightness adjustment option 4. Cut down the glare paintings while photographing. 5. Use this sheet to modify your microscope and polarize tissues. 6. Use the polarizer to remove flash. 7. Use the polarized sheet for our security camera that's facing out a window to remove the glare off the footage 8. This is being used to control/minimize specular highlights in a photography application.

  • Polarized Film Paper
Ordered the polarized film paper to fix my boat LCD digital Gauges. This polarized film paper is a good quality and is a great option if you want to fix LCD display instead of buy new LCD displays.

  • Great polarizer, Made for a great birthday party surprise!
Very clean polarizer. Caution: If you learn about polarizers, you will discover that it is not a true filter, but changes the light rather than filtering. This can be altered by a nearby substrate like the protective sheet. So the polarizer effect is the strongest once you remove the protective coating. I was worried that it was not a good polarizer until the sheet was removed which allowed it to block more polarized light. Made for a great Spiderwick Chronicles birthday surprise. My daughter wanted this theme for her birthday and if you have seen the movie, there is an element where he looks through a circular stone and suddenly he can see the magical world around him. After brainstorming on how I could achieve the effect, I found that an LCD monitor shows blank white if you remove the polarizing film. So I did that and inserted a piece of this polarizer into a fake circular stone for each kid. Then the magic was that they could search through the house and find the Magic Window (lcd screen) and they could see the picture only by looking through their stone. They loved it ... show more

  • Works, not packed well
Product seems legitimate, and works for my needs. Unfortunately, the product was severely damaged during shipping. This is unexpected, because I picked up the product from an Amazon Locker. While disappointing, I planned to cut the sheet and the damaged area did not greatly impact my usage.

  • Great for physics demonstrations
I bought these to be able to demonstrate various effects with polarized light, and this polarizer has exceeded my expectations in quality. I cut the sheet up into 4 smaller sheets so I could demonstrate crossed polarizers, quantum spin effects, and rotating electric fields in corn syrup. I have also used these to see polarization in reflective surfaces, the sky, and laser light. So far I haven't had any durability issues with the coating, but I have been treating them carefully and haven't had them for too long ... show more

  • Worked Perfectly
This worked perfectly for me. I'm no expert but it appears to me that this sheet is of high-quality. I cut it into pieces using scissors. When two pieces are at 90 degrees it looks totally black both viewing sunlight and my monitor. Rotating a piece while viewing the monitor shows that the monitor is polarized and there is a spot where the monitor cannot be viewed at all. The same experiment thing with sunlight shows no effect at all as expected. The sheet arrived in perfect condition. Even though it was slightly rolled when placed in my mailbox it suffered no ill effects. It came in a protective plastic bag and also had a thin protective film on both sides. I'm delighted with the quality of this item. ... show more
