This is a very nice molcajeté. It is the perfect size for my needs. The first one that was shipped had a snapped off leg. They quickly sent out another and I dropped off the broken one to ship back. However, the second one came with a chip on the outer corner of the bowl. Irritating, but not enough to ship it back a second time. I will live with it. Packaging is key, hopefully they learn from there mistakes, this is a very sturdy molcajeté, I still highly recommend it!

I just received this & was surprised to see that it was exactly as pictured and what I WANTED & NEEDED!! IT'S A LARGER SIZE. 6" is probably your normal medium. There are MANY mortars out there (which I'm sure have there uses)..but, if you're looking to make things like homemade salsas, etc. THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED!

-It’s big, and sturdy and has held up for about a week so far -the holes seem large, may not be practical for salsa making. But I’ve spent a long time seasoning it with plenty of rice, salt and a final layer of garlic. I let it dry and it seems to be just fine. Even after leaving it for hours with the salsa inside of it I have not noticed any leaks. The pestal had a chip but it seems to work perfectly as a location for me to put my fingers for better grip, so maybe I got lucky. All in all - I like it. I’m a fan of the rough and rugged; it feels very authentic. I spend a lot of time randomly rubbing the sides in a fast motion with more garlic to impart more flavor and provide a seasoning layer.

It was easy enough to follow the video on how to prep it with ground rice. It works great for making salsa and looks amazing to display on the table. Very rustic.
