We upgraded from the 1st gen and of course this works a lot better with more features. The sound quality is very good with deep tones, but not a lot of bass kick. The camera can follow and zoom. With Gen 1 you have to fix the sight, but this one allows you ppace it flat and it can capture anything in the frame. Even with inflation this model cost the same as my 1st gen I bought in 2017. Love my echoes!! I bought the refurbished one and it worked as if it was brand new. I use this for beside my bed. Easy to setup. The picture quality is tv quality. I watched Netflix, prime and Hulu on it. I also used sleep sounds to drown out hubbies snoring. Worth the price!!
