  • Wonderful fishing kayak for a great price.
Style: Tamarack Angler Pattern Name: Kayak
There were a lot of reviews on you tube and various Yak sites for this Lifetime Kayak. The general consensus seemed to be that it is a beginner novice kayak. I reviewed several dozen kayaks before ordering the Lifetime and overall the only advantage with a $750 - $1,000 vessel is a better seat and adjustable foot rests. I transitioned from a sit inside that I made very useable but it was lacking in many areas. I have had the new SOT Lifetime out 3 times to date. I generally fish in a river but tried it on the lake today to see how it works in waves and boat wakes. I couldn't be happier with its overall performance. Extremely stable, tracks straight, lightweight, fast enough for my needs and holds all my tackle and gear. The waves on the lake were not an issue at all on a windy day. On the river it does no feel to fragile to scrape over rocks and gravel. I tried standing up just to see if I could and it was stable enough to feel comfortable. If you want to pay more for a cool paint job, a heavier boat and a stadium adjustable seat go right ahead. Or get the no bells and whistles Lifetime Angler and upgrade it according to your personal needs. An anchor trolley, milk crate, cushion PFD and some additional rod holders and you've got an extremely functional fishing vessel. Besides it's more fun to customize and make it your own. ... show more

  • Great yak
Style: Tamarack Angler Pattern Name: Kayak
6 month review I got it on sale for $375 and I could not be happier. Pros: VERY stable, I could easily stand up and fish in mild wind and waves on the grass flats Light and easy to transport on top of a car Lots of storage and tie down points Great build quality Cheap white bait buckets with the red lit fit PERFECTLY into the dry wells and even lock into place (http://www.amazon.com/Challenge-Plastics-Minnow-Bucket-4-Quart/dp/B003CTKUFG/ref=sr_1_7?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1465012257&sr=1-7&keywords=bait+bucket) Attractive looks Cons: The rod holder is too far forward and there is only one of them Back scupper holes blast water up your butt if you move around (buy some plugs for them) Extra info: I'm 5' 4'' and 125 lbs ... show more

  • Stable and Comfy Kayak!
Style: Tamarack Angler Pattern Name: Kayak
Shipping was a little longer than expected but arrived at a decent speed. The deliver person said they've had it sitting there but couldn't bring it until the scheduled date. Hope that can expedited soon for others. The kayak arrived in a large box and in mint condition. It has plenty of storage options. After getting it on the water, we are very satisfied with what this kayak can do. Stable and gets you exactly where you want to go! My thirteen year old purchased this for his first kayak and he couldn't be more pleased! ... show more

  • It's a great, honest little boat (Note
Style: Tamarack Angler Pattern Name: Kayak
It's a great, honest little boat (Note: mine did NOT come with paddles). It is very light weight and has excellent weight carrying capability and stability. I'm able to stick my 9 year old on the front, my 5 year old on the back, and go off on little fishing trips (total "people weight" of about 280-290 lbs). It tracks very well, paddles effortlessly even at--and slightly above--max rated weight, and is easy enough to operate that our 5 y/o neice and son can operate it on a calm day. The seat is probably the weakest part of the design. It's a thin pad that is "tacked down" by automotive style plastic push retainers/rivets. I typically step down into mine from a pontoon boat and if I step on the seat, inevitably, I end up having to spend some time pulling out the rivets, re-positioning the seat cushion, and tacking it back down because the cushion pulled through the heads of the cushion while I was getting in and situated. A minor annoyance (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) but just something to be aware of. The longest I've been on it in one setting was about 3-4 hours and it was comfortable enough. One modification I did make to mine was I ran some paracord between the forward and aft drain holes (on the inside) to act as a sort of clothes line so I can clip all my gear to it. That way when I tip my boat loading or unloading it, all my gear stays within reach of the seated position. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the purchase and I'll probably purchase another one for the kids in a year or two. ... show more

  • Low cost fishing machine
Style: Tamarack Angler Pattern Name: Kayak
2 years ago I tentatively bought this kayak. I wanted to ease into the kayak fishing world. Now, after using this awesome entry level kayak, I consider it a PHENOMENAL value. I have recommended it to friends, and have since purchased 2 more for my family/friends. I have also fished other, more expensive kayaks, and the fishing experience is absolutely no better than the Tamarac. The only improvement I would recommend is that Lifetime engineer the Tamarac for a better seat, like that on their Teton Angler kayak (a kayak which I found less stable, and less accommodating for storage, and do not recommend) . I have used an off the shelf stadium seat on my Tamarac, and it has provided very adequate comfort for hours of paddling/fishing. If you want to get on the water economically, get this do-it-all right entry level kayak! ... show more

  • Great Fishing kayak
Style: Tamarack Angler Pattern Name: Kayak
I've used the Tamarack Angler kayak just a few times since it arrived but I'm very impressed with the fit & finish of it. I'm 6 ft tall & about 200 lbs & fit comfortably in it. I like the removable front rod holder, the kayaks relatively light weight & its stability, I'm still outfitting it & want to add a good anchor system. All in all I'm very impressed with my first time fishing kayak & I got it at a great price. ... show more

  • Kayak sturdy but 6 inch nick in the front
Style: Tamarack Angler Pattern Name: Kayak
I bought 2. One came with a huge nick in the front top of the kayak. I would have returned it if it wasn’t such a pain in the butt to get another one delivered. Other than that the kayaks will be a lot of fun.

  • Seems great so far.
Style: Tamarack Angler Pattern Name: Kayak
Very good price and delivered quickly. They even allowed a new earlier delivery date when my kayak arrived at their warehouse early. The kayak was well wrapped and undamaged. Some reviewers said they received a paddle. That was not the case with mine. I did, however, have an upgraded seat. The picture just showed a back support on my kayak with no seat cushion. Mine came with a full seat with both the back and seat cushion. Very light and easy to carry. I like the carry handles in the front, back and sides. I'm not sure how the seat will hold up and I had bought an upgraded seat already so I may change it out. I'll just see how it works. It's wider than my wifes kayak so I'm betting it's more stable but slower than hers. I'll reassess my review if needed after I take it out on the water. As of right now though I'm very pleased. ... show more
