Purchased this for my four year old son for Christmas. It is the perfect size for him. It sounds okay, but the knobs that tighten the strings aren't very good and the strings become loose after strumming for just a few minutes. It's frustrating for my kid to have to stop and tighten the strings every few minutes. It is also not super well-constructed. My son dropped it from a short distance onto the living room floor, and the front piece of the guitar broke away from the back and we could not snap it back together. It's definitely my son's bad for dropping it, but I would not have expected it to break like that from a very short fall. ... show more

I didn't expect too much from this as is relatively inexpensive. But my husband tried for a while to tune the guitar so it wasn't as obnoxious, and the strings wouldn't stay tight enough to be in tune.

This guitar seems well made for the price. It comes in a handy zippered plastic case, and includes a pick (on a string so you won't lose it!). It sounds good and you can tune it. Though I am personally musically illiterate and have no idea how WELL you can tune it. My son is 3.5 and it is the perfect size for him. He loves to play with it. I wouldn't buy a toddler or pre-schooler a more expensive guitar for obvious reasons, though if you were actually trying to teach the child to play guitar, and you were going to keep it put up except for practice, you might go with something a little more realistic. This is definitely a toy. Still, I think this guitar is good fun and might instill a desire to learn to play music later. It's always a good idea to foster a number of interests for any child: sports, art, music, science, etc. The only real negative of this product (and it is kind of a big one) is that the guitar itself does not include a strap! The child has to try to hold on to it and play, or has to sit down to play. There's no way even to attach a strap that you bought separately. I might try to put my thinking cap on and put some superglue to work creating one on my own. So, I wish it had a strap but otherwise a nice product. It arrived in perfect condition from Amazon and has held up really well since Christmas in the hands of our son. ... show more
