  • Speedy smartphone with IP ratings, 3.5mm jack & 5G capabilities
Upgraded from a Samsung active series phone and wanted to get another water resistant phone like the active series. Seen LG products had many in V and G series phones that are IP rated and they have the 3.5mm headphone jack. Price and shipping was good as usual for Amazon just over 300 for a flagship series phone that supports 5G. This phone and the S10 5G from Samsung were the ones used to test the US four carriers 5G networks. Received phone and off to the AT&T store since I have AT&T service and needed a nano sim card and my existing Samsung uses a micro sim. They set the phone up and was able to make calls, browse the internet uses wifi and cellular services. Noticed when I arrived home that I was able to receive simple texts but text messages that had pictures or URL links attached could not be opened and viewed. Group texts also did not work. I called AT&T tech support. They provided the correct APN settings and I had to create a third APN entry. Went through network reset and they said the third APN entry setting was active even though the two other APN entries had the Sprint settings. Phone still would not process texts with URLs and pictures or group texts. When sending group texts the word sending... would appear under the text until I rebooted the phone. AT&T tech support referred me to LG support. LG 2nd level tech support went through with me on clearing memory and cache in the messaging application that would allow one group text that was stuck in the sending mode to go through. Attempted to send a second group text right after the one went out and sending.... appeared under the second group text. LG exhausted their experience and indicated this was a software issue between APN settings in the phone and backend messaging system of the AT&T carrier. That is what I was thinking for everything else besides attachments and group texts did not work but regular simples texts and everything with the phone worked correctly. Had to be a software configuration setting. I called AT&T tech support went through their first level tech support script. I requested to be escalated to 2nd level engineering. I was given a ticket number and was told they would get back within 48 to 72 hours. Never received a call or text from them. I called back again 4 days later was told the same thing by AT&T first level tech support. I went back to Amazon and read the reviews and seen a few other complain about the same problem when using GSM services from either T-Mobile or AT&T. I noticed customers who purchased from eKings had the same problems and eKings resolved them. So I reached out to Amazon and made them aware of the problem I was experiencing. They indicated to try to reach out to eKings even though I did not buy the phone from eKings. Well after trading e-mails, I was connected to tech support guy Alex from eKings. I explained to Alex what did with AT&T and LG and sent him the AT&T APN settings that AT&T provided. We agreed on a time and I provided him with my land line phone # so we could work on the mobile phone. Instead of doing the network reset via the menus in the phone, Alex provide the network reset code by using the phone pad. The phone went through its initialization and loaded the AT&T APN settings from the AT&T sim card into the phone. Now there were only two APN entries and they both had AT&T parameters in them. The Sprint APN entries were no longer in the phone. Alex sent me a text with a picture which thumbnail appeared with the texts and expected and I in turn sent him a text with a jpeg picture he received correctly. So the LG engineer was correct that the APN setting in the phone and the messaging backend system at AT&T was the problem. Kudos to Alex and eKings in going over and beyond and helping me resolved the problem even though I did not purchase the phone from them. Thank you eKings and Alex! ... show more

  • Happy with this phone on TMOBILE. Setup relatively easy but there are some extra steps needed.
I purchased two of these phones to replace the MOTO G5 units that my wife and I had been using for a few years. These phones are originally for the SPRINT network but they are unlocked and come with special instructions to get them working with another carrier (such as TMOBILE). The instructions recommend the following steps to allow you to send picture messages and get Fast Data speed: 1. Settings>>System 2. Restart & Rest 3. Network Settings reset 4. Reset Settings 5. Confirm RESET SETTINGS. I followed these steps which are supposed to get the ACCESS POINT NAMES to the TMOBILE network. Now the story regarding the two phones becomes interesting. We will call my phone the "black" phone because it is in a black case and my wife's phone the "pink" phone because it is in a pink case. My phone seemed to work perfectly fine. I went to a TMOBILE store (not authorize dealer) and they provided me with a new SIM card. (I had been a TMOBILE customer for over 5 years.) Everything seemed to work okay with the new SIM card. My old SIM card did not seem to work consistently but the new one was perfect. For the PINK phone, we could get it to work on the TMOBILE network BUT it could not send/receive text messages with pictures. We tried the setup instructions mentioned above several times but with no success. After experimenting for some time, I discovered that the "MMSC" entry for T-Mobile LTE in the Access Point Names (APN) had the word SPRINT in it. The drop down options only allowed me to ADD a new APN and not modify the old ones. I proceeded to add a "dummy" APN on the PINK phone. Once this was added, I was able to use the drop down options to RESET all the APN information. Once this was done, the PINK phone started to work perfectly including the ability to SEND/RECEIVE text messages with pictures. After experiencing this, I realized (remembered) that when I was setting up my BLACK phone, I had added a new APN and then did the reset. IMPORTANT: If you experience this problem when setting up this phone, add a "dummy" APN and then reset the APN values. This should resolve the problem. I should point out something else. We actually went through two "pink" phones. The first one my wife received seemed to work okay BUT every time the phone was turned off and then on again, it would give an ACTIVATION error. (See pictures associated with this review.) Selecting "CONTINUE" allowed the phone to proceed to work normally. This was very annoying. The "black" phone did not have this issue. I ordered a second phone for my wife and it did NOT have this problem. I was able to send back the first phone for a full refund. I suppose this "review" is more of a guide to help users set up the phone. We have both been happy with the units after using them for about 2 weeks. Nice screen. Good camera. 5G speed on the TMOBILE network works well. ... show more

  • Get this phone!
Ok so I was desperately looking for a phone seeing as my lg g6 was dying and lagging not to mention the screen burn in now, it was a good phone but aged terribly quickly and I was trying to get something good for a decent price but I'm really really cheap so it was between this and the galaxy s10. I refuse to pay $1000+ for a smartphone. No way I just won't cause Apple started it now everyone else wants to follow so we will be conditioned to pay that ? Nope not me so I decided to get the lg v50 and man oh man it's incredible!!! Loud speakers awesome quad dac to use wired headphones and just plain gorgeously fast! This phone at this price is a steal at the value but nothing is perfect Cons: if your tech savvy you have to keep your network settings on automatic, if it's anything else you can't call or send messages it was real annoying trying to figure that out, also im on metro pcs so I'm speaking from their service. The other con was mms (multimedia messenging) it most likely won't work cause sprint is no more but there is a easy fix for that on YouTube anyone can do it trust me just look up apn fix! Other than that smooth crisp pictures, very fast and perfect!!! ... show more
