  • If you are an audiophile, this is the phone with a headphone jack and "Quad DAC" for you If you are an audiophile, this is the phone with a headphone jack and "Quad DAC" for you
This is a larger phone, with a nice screen, good battery life and good cameras (four of them). The screen has a "notch" in the top like the newer iPhone, so watching a full screen video will be cut off by the notch. Internal speakers are OK, phone calls are nice and loud. Screen is curved on edges, so a glass screen protector will not wrap around, and the versions that do wrap around only adhere on the edges. I bought these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S3SP8PL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, and the fit the screen perfectly, no bubbles, but they are not glass just plastic scratch protection, and can get little dents from fingernails, which can be brushed out. Get a drop proof case for this. With the case the phone is a little heavy. Hardware is fast and not much bloatware was included. It comes in a version with a case that has a second screen, which is a different model than this one. This is an unlocked Sprint phone, and using it with T-Mobile the phone kept trying to install Sprint software. A call to T-Mobile fixed that, the activated it for their service and the Sprint software stopped installing. As for the sound quality, even using high end Grado phones this phone delivers great sound, balanced, powerful and accurate. It has a software equalizer and DTX:3 3D sound for the speakers. This phone is best from the headphone jack, plugged in the "Hi-Fi Quad DAC" activates. It has digital sound presets (mine is set to "Normal"), Digital Filters (mine is set to "Slow" as it seems most accurate), and left and right channel balance dials, so you can tune in the best sound for your headphones. I have a number of high end headphones amps and this phone gets close to the sound quality of an external portable amp, just missing the "speaker effect" the best amps can achieve. Plus it has plenty of power to drive less sensitive larger headphones. Paired with the Poweramp app this phone is hard to beat for sound quality for music through the headphone jack. ... show more

  • Good phone, works well, I have it on Google Fi Good phone, works well, I have it on Google Fi
(note: pictures taken with LG phone) I have had the LG V30, the V40, and now I just got the V50 finally. I do really like these phones, too bad LG did away with that second screen that was on the V30 though, that was nice. So I have the phone running on Google Fi and so far so good, no problems. Calls work fine, messages send and receive, picture messages work. I haven't had a voicemail yet or tried wifi calling, although was prompted to set up wifi calling and that went fine and seemed like it was ready to go. I would definitely recommend this phone, it's very customizable and doesn't have all that bloatware crap that's on all the Samsung phones. LG treats their users like they are smart enough to operate the phone, unlike Samsung that shoves everything in your face like you're a 5 year old that cant handle navigating a smartphone. The battery is improved from previous models and lasts throughout the day and even into the next depending on use. The camera is great, the V40 had the three camera lenses before iPhone ever did it and they have improved it and brought that to this phone as well. It's all-around a well-put-together, solid phone. My v40 lasted me almost 3 years and still works good, except the battery is starting to wear out recently. I'm including some pics I took with the phone as an example of the camera quality. ... show more

  • Great phone but no SIM Card and no 5G
LOVE the phone and its a fantastic price however it does NOT have a SIM card for it and with the Sprint/T-Mobile merger its been a REAL PITA to get the SIM card ordered. Nobody but Sprint Customer Service seems to have one. It would be really nice if the ad for this phone actually said NO SIM CARD. I also found out that even though this phone is a 5G phone, all 5G has been transferred to the T-Mobile network and this phone is not compatible with the T-Mobile 5G so if you want 5G with Sprint/T-Mobile, don't buy this phone. I'm just fine with 4G LTE, which continues to work and I've been informed will continue to work when the total switch to the T-Mobile network occurs. Other than those couple of issues, love the phone and the price! ... show more

  • Phone is superb just didnt work in my country :(
This phone is ridiculously underrated. I had one before and the screen cracked so needed another one. I read a few reviews and most people had good things to say about the overall experience, in particular someone from South Africa said the device worked fine on our networks (Vodacom for me). This prompted me to go ahead with the purchase. However after it had arrived, I tried a few times to set it up, resetting Network settings etc. LG South Africa and Vodacom could also not assist so I had to return it. What makes it worse is that I had to pay for the shipping costs as well. Like I said, the phone is flipping amazing for the price so go out and get it but make sure it works in your region/country first! ... show more

  • Great "last gen" $1000 phone for ~$300
I don't know why phones are getting rid of headphone jacks. Aren't they multimedia devices? Yea people are going wireless, however what is wrong with having a good 3.5mm jack on a phone. Water resistance? This phone is IP68 certified. So that's not it. Make the phone slimmer! Um, the iPhone 6 was crazy thin, even had structural issues, and had a headphone jack. That was the last iPhone to have it. I believe a 3.5mm jack is required on my phone. This takes it a step further adding an ESS Sabre ES9218P "Quad DAC" to the mix. I'm not a engineer so I'm not going to touch on "Quad DAC" but you can look it up. Simply put, it has the best audio quality coming out of that little jack from any phone. EVER! I love music, and this is the main reason I got this phone. My last phone was LG's V35. Which also has a "Quad DAC". Love it, still have it. Just I abused the usb port too much and it broke. Wireless charger saves the day! But I decided to get a new phone. And I looked around for newer models of the V series, and found this for $320 new. Bought right away. Even with the lower ratings with api issues. I use Tracfone "bring your own phone" prepaid plan, (don't like contracts). Slipped the GSM (AT&T) sim card in and everything works. LTE, Phone, SMS, MMS. No need to set up API. Very fast phone, like the LG UI. Oh by the way, Camera! My god if you are a photographer, this phone is a dream. The amount of modes is insane! Manual mode has about every control a DSLR has. Takes great videos too. Great phone overall! Would recommend. $300 is a steal for something this good! ... show more

  • APN issues with MMS messages and eKings support came through like a champ!
I bought the LG V50 Sprint unlocked phone and had ported all of my information over. The phone was unlocked and was working great for voice and data and SMS. There was only one problem and that was with my MMS messages. I could not send or recieve any group texts nor any pictures or GIFs with anyone in my contact list. I reached out to the eKings support through Amazon on a Friday night and was contacted almost first thing on the next business day Monday. I left them my phone number so that we could talk but I had missed their call by 5 minutes and called back and they put me in touch with the support agent that had reached out to me. I explained the issue and he was super helpful by providing me information on how to access the hidden menu of the phone and the service code to get in. The support agent also tested my phone by sending me a GIF and it worked so I tested it from my side and I was able to send him an MMS as well. The test worked but the whole issue was not yet resolved. From the hidden menu, I was able to delete the APN settings that were provided by T-Mobile as part of my troubleshooting with the settings issues with MMS messages. When I deleted these APN settings I noticed that the default Sprint MMS settings came back onto the device automatically. I manually changed that Sprint setting to the T-Mobile setting and the phone automatically rebooted like the change I had made was significant in some way. When the phone came back up all of the MMS messages that had backed up started flowing into my phone en masse. I then manually entered the rest of the APN settings from the T-Mobile BYOD webpage and everything is working now the way that it's supposed to be. ... show more

  • Bluetooth is horrible!!
Originally I gave this phone 5 stars. I'm taking back two stars because the bluetooth shuts off/turns back on constantly for no apparent reason. This phone's MSRP was originally $1,100!? NO WONDER LG got out of the phone business. I'm so glad I did not pay that much!! I'd be screaming right now.

  • Awesome deal, works great on MetroPCS
LTE works great on MetroPCS. Just be aware that VoLTE does not work unless on Sprint. Had some issues with calls not working but resetting the phone's network settings fixed it. If you're having issues with MMS or calls not working try this code in the phone dialer app: ##72786#. If you need to edit APN settings you'll have to enter this code: ##DATA# (##3282#), but beware you'll need a service code which the seller can issue to you. If you are not comfortable with that side of the phone's settings don't touch anything and take it to your service provider's store and ask them to change it for you; again, you'll need that service code. Finally, This is a solid phone. Solid battery life, great sharp screen quality, takes good pictures. Features that a $700+ cellphone offers all for $430. ... show more
