  • Great phone, great deal. This phone is ideal!
Style: Standard Version Color: Platinum
After a lifetime of Samsung's this and that's, the LG G6 is really high quality. This expensive phone new is more than i'd every pay for a phone (approaching $1000), but I bought it as a refurb unit that was listed on Amazon as 'Like New', for $109. I would normally be skeptical even though it's two models down from the current version. But Amazon listed, fulfilled and guaranteed it. After watching really good reviews on it, I ordered it, and got it in a day. It is absolutely great, not a scratch anywhere, it was unlocked and it works perfect! It is a fast 64 bit system with a great 8 core processor. It handles everything I've thrown at it, including flying a drone while watching the Hi-res video the drone seems back! Without skipping a beat! ... show more

  • Updated 2019 - Verizon users read this! Updated 2019 - Verizon users read this!
Update October 2019. This phone has not received any security updates in over a year. LG says 'it's on the way' and can 't tell me when it'll get any updates. Others with G6 bought through carriers have received security updates. This makes me leary to buy another Amazon unlocked phone again. I see other posts on the web that Amazon phones don't get the Android security updates like carrier devices. In a world where malware and viruses and rootkits are prevelant, that is very concerning. ************************************************************ Needed a nano - sim. Went to Verizon, got one no problem. Went to activate device - couldn't do it in store as unlocked phones seem to have a 14 digit IMEI instead of 15. This caused confusion with the Verizon techs. Tech let me use his phone to call customer service - 5 minutes on the phone with a very professional lady and she had the SIM serial entered and the phone activated. No hassled whatsoever. 14 digit IMEI? - No problem she said. So just be aware that with Verizon you'll need to call customer service central command since they can't activate these in-store. Otherwise - Excellent phone: Unlike some others have listed - I find this phone to be just fine. I went to this from an LG G3 and I'm pleased with the performance of the G6. The camera is much improved and video quality is excellent. I find battery life to be good. I can listen to Google play all day at work and that battery still has 50% plus left in the evening. Volume buttons on the side take getting used to but the integrated fingerprint scanner is nice and makes for ease of use. It's nice to see the stock LG OS vs what Verizon or the other providers put on a device. If the built in apps don't meed your needs that's why there's a Google play store. I replace the stock voicemail, messaging, weather, email and launcher on almost every phone I have owned. Overall a good solid device. This one is $672 at Verizon - $419 today at Amazon for the unlocked non-Prime model. That's almost a $260 difference. No complaints from me. ... show more

  • Buyer Beware
Style: Standard Version Color: Platinum
Okay so I got this phone back in 2017 and right away I had to keep sending it back cause they kept sending me the wrong ones. I wanted unlocked and they kept sending me t-mobile ones. This is not LG's fault this is a amazon problem I would think or the sell problem. When I finally got my unlocked one it was great at first. But after less then a year the battery started having weird problems luckily it was still under warranty so I sent it into LG to have it repaired. They replaced the battery apparently because it was faulty but the warranty wouldn't be extended or anything so if it happened again I would be screwed. Later on I started noticing the phone was like stuck on one day when I woke up which had drained the battery most of the night for some reason. I took screenshots and sent them to LG and explained what happened worried that the battery was messing up again. On top of that I didn't have time to charge it that day and had to go to work right away after noticing the battery was down to like 12% or something. I had to try and charge it a bit at work. After that it seemed okay and working normally but LG suggested sending it in. Well I wasn't gonna send it in right away because I had a trip coming up around the time and didn't want to be without a phone or with a different phone im not used to when im on my trip. So I could be able to take decent pictures with the camera, and use the apps im used to. Plus it wasn't covered under warranty anymore cause of the fact it's only warrantied for 1 year after purchase. So I went on my trip and right away the first day I am on my trip I try to swap out the SIM card with a pre-paid one and the SIM/Micro SD card holder (the plastic garbage they use) was broken in more then one spot. I was really upset as well as stranded because I couldn't use my phone to contact anyone or use mobile data only wifi. I made it to where I was staying and contacted LG on my broken phone all panicked but figuring they could help and would have a place nearby (since it was a HUGE city and area thats very popular). I was told the closest place was over a 1000 miles away and that I would have to send it there and wouldn't get it back for 2 weeks or something like that. Like wtf!? I am on my trip and need it now! So they suggested taking it to a local cell phone repair place and have them try and fix it. I ended up having to do that and had to wait a day for the replacement SIM/SD card slot then the repair guy noticed part of the card slot was stuck in the phone thus you wouldn't be able to fit the SIM into it. So he had to open up the phone to get that piece in order for the SIM to work. Unfortunately in the process he damaged the SD card reader but was able to get the card holder opened up so I could insert the new card holder into my phone and use the pre-paid SIM card I bought to use so I at least had mobile data but my SD card could not be used so that meant not taking as many pictures or videos during my trip and got charged $60 dollars for my trouble. After I got home from the trip I contacted LG about getting it sent in to be repaired cause I still liked the phone and was used to it. But it would be 2 weeks before I would get it back so I had to end up buying a temp. smart phone to replace it which took some time. Also every time they e-mailed me about the info I was sending them about needing it repaired none of the links on their e-mails worked right so I had to go to their site and constantly type in the reference code etc if I needed to add any info to the problems or anything. I finally got it sent in and got an e-mail today with it addressed to a different family member for some reason (idk how that happened) and they had claimed before because they are LG they would have the right parts and stuff so it would be better for them to repair it so I figured it shouldn't be to bad. The e-mail currently is showing that because it was a "tampered device" and because it was no longer under warranty that it was gonna cost me around $380 US dollars to be repaired. I paid $450 US dollars when I first got it new and that included a warranty. That really annoys me. I am still contemplating on if I want to fork over that much money for something that might not last long anyways. But I would need to look for a new smart phone if I want to buy something else instead. I am someone who takes really good care of his phones. I never let them go below 20% and usually only let them drain down to 40% and only try to charge them to 80% like what iv seen on so many sites talking about keeping your batteries working in great condition. I rarely if ever drop my phone and usually it's only a small distance from like a chair to the floor but I always have them in a protective case and house them in a holster when im not using them. I try to keep them cool and not use them to often etc. My phones should last me a long time but manufacturers tend to make crapy products these days that only last a year it seems like. If it didn't have these problems the phone would have been pretty good to me. The camera worked well and took decent pictures. It has nice features, it was user friendly. The only thing I didn't like recently was the fact that the location thing would keep coming up (I think that's maybe googles fault) which I had to go in and turn off over and over again in the settings. Which would broadcast to whatever app is asking your location even if you have it set to off it would turn on by itself at times which was annoying. As well as the battery seemingly getting pretty warm at times just from using it normally. Sorry for the long rant. And I see this phone isn't being sold anymore on amazon from the looks of it. Will need to start looking at what new unlocked phones cost and if I might want to go with one of those instead unfortunately. ... show more

  • Very Good - Could Have Been Great | LG G6 - The Working Mans Pixel 2 XL Very Good - Could Have Been Great | LG G6 - The Working Mans Pixel 2 XL
Full Disclosure - I am coming from a Google Pixel XL, got this as a second phone, so it has a lot to live up too, also i got this for $450 which makes it a great deal at that price point, since LG built the Pixel 2 XL and was in part based on this phone and the v30... one can almost consider this the working mans Pixel 2 XL. I got the correct unlocked version of this phone, thank you very much.. The phone itself is very good, with the screen and overall modern 18:9 design and the wide angled lens being the stand outs... cons are the middling battery life and LG software (which is easily changed) The auto-brightness feature is well just terrible, forcing the screen from barely readable dim to super bright sometime with very little reason, under work florescent lights the situation is the worst and i just keep it at 50% non auto, when at home with softer lighting the brightness works much better and i keep it on auto... consider installing lux from the play store, which has far superior brightness management IMHO. The wide angled lens camera option is great in fact i wish in the future more smartphones would implement this to get much wider exceptional views and good closeup and mid range, a big plus... the standard camera lens is pretty good, not Pixel level good, but def above average. I didn't care for the native LG software and quickly replaced with nova launcher and the Pixel launcher with Google feed... and then replaced most of the default LG apps (calendar etc) with their much better Google counterparts... the phone is butter smooth with non of the Samsung "lag" and slowdown, LG really knows how to optimize in this area, kudos. Biggest let down is the middling battery life, you can optimize this phone, but it will just barely get you through the day with mixed use you'll get about 3.5 hours SOT before needing to hit the charger which itself is very quick USB-C 3.0 quick charge BTW... For a 2017 flagship this is just not that great with 5+ hours SOT being pretty standard these days as a reference point. For most people this will be just fine, phone tinkerers and power users will need to charge by evening. Overall this is a very good phone, the design is wonderful and modern... very premium yet light in hand, it is kept from greatness by the middling battery life and LG software... The camera is good but the 2nd wide angled lens is great. ... show more

  • Best phone I ever had!!!!!!!!!!!
I've only had it about a week but so far and I really like it. My last phone was a Moto X Pure and I really loved everything about it, so I had a hard time justifying spending money on a new phone. I kept telling myself if I came across a great deal on a new one that I would jump on it. I bought this during Amazon Prime Day and I'm really glad I did. I can definitely see a difference between the two with the camera, speed of which the apps open, and even internet speed. I really don't have anything bad to say about it. Update: Two and a half weeks in and I still love this phone! Some of the reviewers are saying that they received a T-mobile version and not the factory unlocked version. I don't know, maybe there are some sellers on here that didn't give an honest and accurate description of the product. The phone I received, which I bought from Amazon and not a third party seller through Amazon is definitely factory unlocked and I activated it on Verizon prepaid network. I'm pretty sure you can activate this with most prepaid networks but I would google it first before you buy. ... show more

  • I'm with Verizon and CANT' use it
Style: Standard Version Color: Platinum
Not sure how the phone itself is. But the one I received was not unlocked. Could not be used for verizon. The actual phone had no labels for tmobile so I thought I was good, but I took it to the verizon store to activate and it came up for tmobile only. They said it was not unlocked for verizon and can only be used with tmobile. I got this phone sold and shipped by amazon. I figured it was safe, because it was not a 3rd party seller and amazon would know if they had a phone that said it could be used on Verizon, that it actually would be. It was not the case. If you don't have tmobile, I would look elsewhere because too many people are getting only tmobile phones. The description is not accurate. Even if sold by amazon. I am returning this. Also, if you do have tmobile and want to get the phone, make sure you know that this requires a nano sim card. I didnt know either that the old sim cards are being phased out and the micro will not work from my old phone. Had to take to the store for a smaller sim card anyway. But those are the only 2 things i can comment on, because I cant use the actual phone. ... show more

  • Phone itself is a pretty good phone overall and does what I need it ...
I was a little worried reading some of the reviews that phones arrived and were t-mobile or another service providers locked phone. Since I ordered from a sold and shipped by Amazon listing I knew that if there was an issue they would take it back. Phone arrived quickly, was brand new and was a fully unlocked phone with no service provider logos or apps. Phone itself is a pretty good phone overall and does what I need it to do.The phone itself takes great pictures, decent sound for watching movies, and video is also good. It is pretty similar to the G4 it replaced. Major difference I would say is the battery is sealed in the case, you can use a micro sd card to add extra storage which is located with the SIM card. Being able to add storage is a must for me as I like to load movies, games etc for my kids and I. ... show more

  • Superior Value and Reliability In a Beast of a Flagship
Style: Standard Version Color: Platinum
In researching devices I decided on the LG G6 and I'm very pleased! At over 200 less than a galaxy S8 without compromise! Battery life is much improved! This is the first LG since the LG G2 that I truly enjoy the experience. Really glad LG focused on battery, bezel, and ruggedness with this device! The 2 year warranty just shows you LG is dedicated in making reliable devices and giving you piece of mind. The wide-angle camera is fantastic! I highly recommend this device over anything out there if you want a flagship device under 500 with IP68! The 18X9 screen takes some adjusting but all in all I like the minimized width of the device. ... show more
