  • A fine phone
The G5 is near the pinnacle of phone design for me. At the very top, the ability to replace the battery puts it head and shoulders above other phones I have used in the past, as failing battery capacity is the most common reason they become unusable. While I am mostly just using this device for standard phone calls, I have been pleasantly surprised about how well it can handle most any app thrown at it. And it has no trouble running Oreo; I suspect it could run Pie as well, if LG was interested in continuing support for the phone. I purchased my G5 refurbished; beyond a few cosmetic points on the case, the phone has been flawless. It's been up 24/7 for a month now, with luck it should last me much longer... ... show more

  • Disappointed
Phone came with battery that wouldn't charge. And the phone had a known bug and wouldn't stop notification signal.

  • Great phone!
I accidentally ordered this and was upset when I couldn't cancel the order (5 minutes later). It's the best (but expensive) accidental purchase I've ever made. I had an S6, gave that to my kid, haven't looked back. Battery life is not consistent, but I rarely need to charge it throughout the day. The camera is great; I love all of the manual settings. For the first time since buying my S6, I haven't been watching prices for a new phone. ... show more

  • Great phone- Still using since 2016 to now going into 2021
What LG G5 does well: +Solid processing power with Quad-core MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM which is still better than $100 or less bargain smartphones. +Great camera, with SUPER camera software for the money! 16 MP forward-facing camera with Laser AF and a 3-axis OIS, and I can use the LED flash and take panoramas, HDR, and record in 4K at 30fps, or 1080p at 30 to 60fps with stereo sound. Good enough for youtube recordings! +A fixable phone, all parts are cheap and easy to replace. +A Removable battery, you can buy extra batteries and switch them out as needed. THE BEST PART! +Updates to run 8.0 Android Oreo +A good-sized phone, but not huge. The Dimensions are: 49.4 x 73.9 x 7.7 mm (5.88 x 2.91 x 0.30 in), weighing in at a light 159 g (5.61 oz). +Fast charging 18W, USB-C port. The Issues: -Most cases you can buy, just don't protect the forward-facing camera which can break in a fall. (replaced once) --The dual GPS antentas can get gunk on them and they report different positions. (What out for this on used phones. This is the main reason for giving this phone 3 stars!!!!! -Has a loudspeaker, but it and the headphones have 'safety' software that caps the volume out and requires a hack to be able to max it out. However, alarms by-pass this safety and go SUPER LOUD! ... show more

  • Great phone!
So far so good. There was a few cosmetic things wrong like a scuff on the chin (which I can just replace) and minor scratching on the camera lens but otherwise no issues. The phone itself seems to be working great & I love it. Hopefully no issues arise in the future but I will update if there are.

  • These phones were livable until last week. After less than 1 1/2 years one suddenly quit.
We purchased 2 of these phones. They each have issues, but different issues. Mine seems to use battery like no other even though it just sits at home most of the time, while the battery on my husband's seems to work fine and lasts him all day at work. They both seem to use a lot of data, especially when away from WiFi, even without us actively operating the phone. We do not have unlimited data on our plan, so this causes problems for us. We have done everything we can think of or find in the phones to reduce the data usage, so we'll see if that improves, but I've had to do this repeatedly because previous attempts haven't solved the issue. I realize a little data is used updating apps, notifications and such, but this is excessive, beyond what previous phones have done. The keyboard doesn't seem to have the right sensitivity as I am constantly hitting the wrong keys when typing messages. Again, I've not had this issue with other phones. Its annoying to have to constantly correct inadvertent mistakes. I use the fingerprint option, my husband does not, so I can only speak for one phone here. For whatever reason, this functionality does not work well when logging into/waking up the phone. However, when I use it for apps, such as the bank, it works just fine then. I don't know if its our carrier (Verizon) or the antenna, but we don't get good reception with these for phone calls even when in urban areas or highly traveled highways where you'd expect the signal to be good. Lots of dropped calls because of this. There are a number of other quirks, but I can't think of all of them right now. So basically, the phone works, but its quite frustrating. If the phone had been more expensive I would give it an even lower rating. I am giving a lower rating now. After less than 1 1/2 years I know I'm going to have to have to replace my phone soon. I can barely use it even in the house, does not connect to a call well, even when using Wi-Fi. It frequently just shuts off. It definitely shuts off when in the neighborhood of 20% battery, no warning. My husband's phone suddenly got lines across the screen a week ago. He had not dropped it or anything. Just suddenly happened while he was talking to me. These forms were not refurbished well. ... show more
