I wanted a 1.5-5x20 scope for up-close dangerous game use and this is the only one I could find. The reason it annoys me is that for a short-range scope the CDS feature is *totally* unnecessary but the ZL feature has kept me from zeroing the scope in two trips to the range. ZL is a button on the top turret that prevents the turret from being turned more than one revolution. This is part of the holder-over CDS function. Well, I didn't know this when I went to the range and was astounded when I couldn't get anywhere near the correct elevation without running out of turret movement. So, I went home and contacted Leupold support and found out I needed to take the *very* small aluminum set screws loose on the turret and remove the turret to get another 360 degrees of movement. Great!, I need to carry this 1 mm allen wrench with me whenever I use the rifle. Well, wouldn't you know it, I forgot to take the wrench on my second trip to the range and when I got home I found I had lost the wrench. I retrieved one from a set I have and loosened and tightened the turret cap again but managed to strip out the head of the set screw (very easy). I hate this scope. All that CDS and ZL stuff is totally unnecessary on a scope with this one's intended use. Update: Okay, here's how to zero this scope. Take the Allen wrench provided and remove the top of the elevation turret and leave it and the wrench at home. Take a small adjustable wrench to the range with you and use it to change the elevation without any restriction. When you get home, reinstall the top of the turret with 0 lining up with the witness mark. Done. Be care with the set screws and the Allen wrench -- it's easy to strip these. ... show more

Leopold has always done me and my family well. We’ve received high quality products every time. In a world of red dots I had a hard time picking out a scope with a nice cross hair option. I figured I would be buying and testing multiple scope before I was really satisfied, but this was one and done. I appreciate that I can turn off the illuminated reticles and view through traditional cross hairs. My dad is a career Marine and crosshairs is how I was taught to shoot; it’s where I feel most comfortable. My husband turns the illumination on when he shoots it, so we get the best of both world. It gives an extremely clear picture, more clear than I thought possible through a scope. All-in-all would give a 10/10. ... show more

vx3hd 1.5-5x20 30mm tube, illuminated red dot. awesome scope with lifetime support. clear, bright, sight picture with crosshair and easy to see fine red dot. really is hd compared to older models. nothing negative to say. should serve me well.
