  • This is my first try with thermal and it is pretty awesome
Pattern Name: RifleScope
I had to think a long time before buying this. It is pretty expensive but worth the price of admission. I am a farmer and have cows and fields and I find myself out and about at all hours. So I will use this enough to make the purchase worth it, I use it 3 or 4 times per week. Once you get it you find other uses than just targets. You can look at your house and see where heat is coming from. You can tell if an engine has been running, or if a camp fire is still hot, you can even see the warm spot if something pees in the field. Little things like rats, bunnies and raccoons can't hide from you. With this, you own the night. You have to get accustomed to seeing in the heat perspective rather than visual wavelengths. It works well, animals show up well. I can tell my dogs apart from across the yard. You are fairly clear for the first 200 meters or so and can see much longer distances. I don't know If I would use it to take a long shot, 500 meters or so, but I likely wouldn't take that shot in broad daylight either. It has a mountain of options and settings, you can dial it in just like you like it. If you want you can set it up for 5 weapons and each of those can sight-in 5 ranges. Like my Iphone, it will do more than I will ever set it up to do. Batteries are good, they last a long time the way I use it. I think now that I have bought one, I might should have gone for the best resolution I could get. Once you start playing with it, that is what you want. I got the middle one, as much resolution as I could afford and am perfectly happy with it. Really amazed by what this little thing is and what it does. If you can afford it you can see in the dark, and if you are just swimming in money go ahead and get the best one and you will love it. It is a see-in-the-dark device that you can mount on a weapon and use as a scope. ... show more

  • Great optic for the money.
Pattern Name: RifleScope
This AGM Rattler thermal scope is a great optic for an entry level thermal scope. I was able to take down three cayotes that had been killing my neighbors calves and a few of their cows on my first night out with it. Great optic for a 100 to 150 yards. The optic quick release mount is also outstanding. You can remove it from what ever platform you have it mounted to and use it as a monocular to scan for preditors. I will be purchasing another one for my wife. Update 9/18/25 It has been a couple of years since I purchased this optic and it has been fantastic. It has held up and performed well. ... show more

  • Great beginner option
Pattern Name: RifleScope
The media could not be loaded. This is my first thermal scope and I couldn’t be happier with the AGM Rattler. I went back and forth on different brands and models, but I’m glad I went with this one — it’s beginner-friendly, reliable, and doesn’t feel overwhelming to use. Right out of the box, it felt well-built and rugged. Setup was straightforward. The buttons are easy to use even with gloves, and the menu is simple enough that I didn’t have to spend hours figuring things out. The image quality surprised me — really good for spotting out to a few hundred yards. I’ve mostly used it for coyote hunting, and it’s made a huge difference. I was able to identify animals clearly in total darkness and even through light brush. Once I got it zeroed (which did take a little trial and error), it held zero perfectly. Battery life is solid. I’d still recommend bringing spares or using an external power bank just in case. The mount that came with mine was decent, but I did upgrade to a quick-detach mount for convenience. If you’re new to thermal like I was, this is a great place to start. It does everything I need without spending 6K+. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to get into thermal hunting without going overboard. ... show more

  • Great, esp for a low cost unit!!! Rated up to .308 win
Pattern Name: RifleScope
I never used it past 100yds.... I had a raccoon issue, but was really impressed how good it worked when it was scanning the field and there was a deer 40 yds away I couldn't see and I'm pretty sure it knew that bc it never got scared or ran! lol. The zeroing is a little off, and the manual SUCKS in that aspect. There is nothing giving clear instructions on how to zero it. But once I figured it out, it was simple. I like that you zero the reticles individually. I zero'd one for subsonic .22LR to be quiet and for stuff out to about 25 yards (CCI make some amazing segmenting subsonic rounds to do a lot better than you would think). Zero another one for .22LR Winchester varmint HE for farther out pests... and set another for the .308 (contacted the manufacture who stated it was rated up to that). Target ID was pretty easy, once you focus it... I had zero thermal experience and had no issues. I highly recommend this model to someone looking at a low cost option!!! ... show more

  • Trouble using high power past 7
Pattern Name: RifleScope
A little difficult to zero but once I figured that reticle was to zero and trajectory is something different. A major problem using higher power past 7 . It raised the bullet trajectory 4 inches at 50 yds. My atn doesnt do that. Its old and burns in lens. Thought this was it. 25 yd zero a tack driver and 50 yds my 17 hmr almost perfect per ballistic chart but not hitting my steel at 180 yds. Windy day so maybe tomorrow. My atn was 1x 2x 4x This starts at 3.5 so field of view is minimalized and will have to use handheld. Ive always powered up the atn so this starts me out there . Unless they have a solution to the reticle move I do not recommend this if your looking to shoot distance at high power. Good price for a hand held and this will probably be used as that. ... show more

  • Excellent for $$
Pattern Name: RifleScope
Has same limitations as all thermals, so don't expect Hollywood capabilities or high end quality. Easy to ID dogs and deer at 250 yds. Tell rabbit from cat a little over 100 yds. 3-4 times better sensitivity and clarity than my TM160 monocular. Works best with tripod to free up hand to fine tune focus as ranges change. I rigged external battery for extended use. With pic freeze for zero, adjusted close looking through bore, then two shots and zero'd ... show more
