  • Really great glass for the price!!!
Style: Mil Dot (180665)
For the price, this has to be the best quality scope you can buy. The mil dot reticle works perfectly. The size of the dots are perfect, just large enough for you to get quick target acquisition while still small enough to not obscure your view. The long eye relief mates perfectly to my AR10 where I can mount it a little further forward increasing my peripheral vision, prevents scope bite, while still giving a generous sight picture. The 5.5 mil of turret adjustments works fine for my application, hunting and target shooting. It allows me just enough adjustments for up to 750 to 800 yds with the 7.62x51 cartridge. This scope is great for the non operator most of us are. But if you need more adjustments, shorter eye relief, or a more tactical reticle then you always have the option to move up to the higher Mark lines and pay 4x to 5x in price minimum. Regardless Leupold offers the absolute best quality, with the best warranty, at an outstanding price. I have Leupold's VX3 on most of my AR and hunting rifles, only a few wears the Zeiss Victory. Leupolds are just about on par with premium glass. I firmly believe that you need good glass on your firearms and going cheap will cost you more in the long run. But that advice is overly simple. The adage is spend as much as the price of your firearm or more. This would be incredibly ridiculous for a rifle like my LWRCI M6IC-A5. That rifle wears s ACOG, I will not put glass on it that costs over 3k. My minimum expenditure for glass is $500 and I have never regretted a single Leupold purchase after 35 years, though some do cost more. Buy once, cry once has never been more so true than for Leupolds! ... show more

  • Outstanding clarity and sharpness at affordable price
Style: Mil Dot (180665)
I bought the Mark 3HD 3-9x40mm scope for a SPR concept rifle. I was highly impressed with the clarity and sharpness of the image produced by this scope. It is sturdy, the finished is flawless, and the retile is superb. The reasons I didn't give it 5 stars are: 1) the zero-stop on the elevation turret only allows for 1 full revolution. If you want to by pass the zero-stop you need to loosen the 3 screws that hold the turret in place. This is frustrating and counter productive for the purpose I wanted for the scope. I need to rapidly dial elevation and windage to engage targets at multiple distances without being limited to one revolution of the turret or face the peril of losing the elevation turret by having the screws loose while I move between firing positions. 2) The elevation turret adjustment clicks aren't as positive on the fingers or as loud as the windage manipulations. In fact, a few times I wasn't sure if I had turned the turret by one or two clicks. If your purpose I for a hunting rig and you don't expect your shooting distance to have large variance, then the zero-stop feature shouldn't be a concern. The scope is wonderful, a side from those two points I mentioned above. I would recommend it, even with those two issues. ... show more

  • Was great at first
Style: Mil Dot (180665)
I bought this scope in October of 2015 to put on my 20" AR15 for some long range shooting and maybe even some coyote hunting. PRO'S: The scope is crystal clear and I was able to sight it in extremely fast. The adjustments feel very positive and are very true in their shifting of point of impact. I was able to make consistent shots at 300yds on my man-size steel target with virtually no effort on any magnification level. I would totally recommend this glass to anybody wishing to shoot out to 500yds with a 5.56 rifle. CONS: Construction. This scope functions flawlessly if pampered but is most definitely built to a 30 - 50 dollar standard. The rifle I have the vortex mounted on has never been dropped or abused. Just sits in a safe, gets zipped up in a range bag, and gets shot from the prone on a shooting mat; nothing dynamic here. Also, because it is a scoped rifle, I take very good care to ensure it does not get banged around in transport. This however did not stop the rear lens compartment from being severely bent downward from a bump so insignificant that I cant even tell what did it. The top of the scope is completely free from any marks or scratches so whatever hit this scope didn't do so very hard. All in all I would go with a cheaper Nikon or something of that sort. I thought this would be a great middle ground between a low end and high end scope however the "shock" proof accolade clearly didn't have very much foundation. I hope this helps anybody looking into this scope. ... show more

  • Good but with limitations
Style: Mil Dot (180665)
For what this is and the price point it's great. Clear glass. Lightweight. Durable construction. Capped windage. Mil/mil adjustments. A few issues but not deal breakers. Tight eye box. Just forces you to be consistent. Since 3x is lowest mag, not a huge issue. It also only has 5.6 mils of adjustment on the elevation. For my purposes (16" AR") it's fine as that gets me out to around 650m which is upper limit of effective range of 5.56 anyway. There's also no parallax adjustment either. But again, for ~600m gun not a huge issue. Pair with an offset RDS and you have 1x cqb capabilities and a 9x top end with a mil dot reticle for not much money and less weight than most 1-6 and 1-8 LPVOs. ... show more
