New healthy habits. I plan updating this review thru first harvest.. I'm super excited. I have 2 units and planted same seeds in 2 different brands to compare growth rate, ease of use and quality: Its only day 3. Results will determine my 3rd unit but so far so good on Letpot! Goal is to lessen produce cost feeding 3 abandoned bunnies found on the street, and my mediterranean diet. Opted for 21 pod to maximize qty/variety of seed starts and the auto water fill and nutrient dispenser for obvious reasons. Less maintenance and mess for busy ppl. Little bit of a mechanical learning curve but getting the hang of it and there's a few things I plan to rig like unused pod holes can be covered with the right upside down pill bottle caps so no shifting on deck until i can 3D print them. Trellis can probably be made with any cord material and plastic sticks (chop sticks) the holes are already there. We'll see if buying custom accessories are really necessary to justify land fill use down the road and frankly I'm tired of storing years of cooking accessories in junk drawers/cabinets. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Back in college, I used to own an Aerogarden. The premise was simple: grow your own veggies or start plants using nothing but water, nutrients, and light. It grew my veggies and herbs so well, I could not keep up with consumption and eventually sold it. Fast-forward 10+ years later and wow, technology has improved a lot in the hydroponic space. Hydroponic gardens have come a long way over the years: 1. WiFi app control 2. Smart irrigation and nutrient distribution 3. Automatic water replenishment 4. Growing statistics and tips for common plants and veggies 5. LED lights The last point is HUGE: LED lights have replaced the growing lights I had with the Aerogarden and that results in longevity of the light bulbs AND energy cost savings. Setup with this LetPot was a bit confusing at first as two growing methods are presented: manual and AI/automatic. The latter would automatically pump nutrients and replenish water using an external water tank. However, due to lack of space in my dining room, I opted for the manual method where I would add water and nutrients as needed. Both methods require you to mix the water/nutrients differently. The Aerogarden, if I remember right, required you to purchase their pods that already had nutrients built in. That made it much simpler to get started with your garden, but like any "pre-made" components, the company had also charged you a premium for the simplicity. The LetPot is taking a different approach with you having to mix your own nutrients. This not only makes it less expensive in the long run, but also affords greater flexibility in how and what you want to grow. Replacement nutrients are available from the manufacturer, but I would rather look up what to buy at the local Home Depot and mix my own -- it probably would be much more economical that way. I plan on researching "hydroponic nutrients" or call up my friend for advice to achieve that goal. The smartphone app allows the LetPot to connect to your WiFi and with that, you can access the system from anywhere using the app. Network security concerns aside, the convenience of being able to specify which plants you are growing and having a tracking system for each makes it convenient for you to monitor and learn. After 6 days, the cilantro, two types of lettuce, and Godzilla broccoli have started sprouting, and by next week, I should be able to remove the included caps that acted like a mini greenhouse. As the plants grow taller, you would raise the lighting platform (initially, start it at the lowest height). I plan on adding tomato seeds to the empty slots and then transplant them onto the backyard soil once they are strong and healthy enough. So far, I have confidence in this garden to be able to continue growing our veggies and herbs, granting us access to healthier ingredients without having to go to the grocery store as often. ... show more

This one has a lot of ports to start growing your starter plants. I like growing herbs in it. I don't transfer my plans and I really should. But. Brcyi don't transfer my plants, the roots go crazy inside and I can only grow 3 - 4 in there at tops. A fully grown mint or cilantro will drink up your water pretty quick too. ... show more
