  • Amazing Value. Perfect and easily playable with a high fun factor!
Bought one a few months back in Blue Ocean and loved the guitar so much that I picked up another in the Matte Black. These guitars are great and I find myself playing them more than my higher end Ibanez and Jacksons. They are very light and the string through body provides a nice warm tone. I had high expectations from the You Tube hype, but I was shocked at the quality and playability of these guitars. Fit and finish was perfect right out of the box. No flaws. Neck had proper relief, no high frets and the guitar intonation was spot on. I swapped the strings to D'Addario .09 gauge XLs based on my preference, but the strings it came with were fine. The picks ups sound incredible, although they wiggle if you push on them so I may try to secure them better. If that is the only minor issue, I will take it at this price point. The hard tail bridge was perfect and the matte black version came with shortened bridge fork set screws as compared to the blue ocean which were slightly high, but not really an issue. Matte Black neck was slightly thicker. I found the tuners to be fine although some have said they are cheap. Bottom line is for the price point, these guitars play like they should be at least double the price. I have two and I'm tempted to get a third in seeing some of the new colors. ... show more

  • Absolutely Stunning!
Color: Violet Flame
Like so many others, I purchased this guitar based on Guitar Max and The Bald Shredder's Youtube reviews. All I can say is, "WOW!" And "THANK YOU!" I don't have a ton of time to share everything I love about this guitar, so I'll just be brief... - Perfect setup straight out of the box - rounded frets are so smooth - great sustain - locking tuners are excellent -- haven't had to tune it in days - roasted maple neck looks so nice - no defects anywhere - pickups sound awesome I could go on and on... just want to point out that some reviews mention an unpleasant smell? One reviewer stated it was ammonia. The scent is most certainly Linseed Oil, which is used to condition fretboards. In past few years, I have played many budget guitars, and even compared them to very expensive guitars. This Monsoon is "hands-down" my favorite guitar at the moment. It feels perfect in my hands, and sounds incredible. The guitar arrived so perfect... I can only assume that reviewers reporting bad setup, or damage actually received a used guitar that had been tampered with by someone else. I realize Amazon needs to break even on customer returns, but when it comes to returned instruments, they're not great at evaluating the condition and playability. If the Leo Jaymz guitar that you received sucks, I highly recommend exchanging it for another -- give them another try. I'm blown away by the quality, personally. I may need to get the SG and Les Paul. Leo Jaymz rocks!!! ... show more

  • Wow.
Color: Green Burl
I'm not even going to say, "for the money". I like this guitar, regardless of the cost. It's not the quality of a $2k Ibanez Prestige, but you'll save almost $1.8k with this thing and it's a solid instrument. Yeah, there are a couple of nits to pick, and some wishlist stuff, but this is a great guitar. The jury's still out on the tuning machines, but there isn't anything I had to do to the guitar as far as setup - no buzz, no sharp fret ends of course, frets seem to be level, nut doesn't seem to be cut badly, and the pickups sound great. Action is always a personal thing, but I didn't even have to do that. The dots on the side of the neck are not centered which is a little annoying. I'd also like a deeper forearm cut and maybe even a little bevel or rounding on that edge, but as far as pickups, bridge, etc., I have no plans to mod or upgrade this guitar at all. It's so comfortable too. I love the roasted maple neck vs. the slick (sticky) poly style of something like the Swifter. I've never been a huge fan of burl, but the color scheme is decent - the green is sort of a reptile burst. I would have bought the purple had it been in stock, but actually I'm glad I got the green. If you're even thinking about this type of guitar, and you came across this one, don't hesitate. This is far and away the best guitar I've bought in this price range (and it stacks up against guitars that are much more expensive). ... show more

  • Was quite surprised at how good it is!
Color: Blue Ocean
After seeing a few YouTube vids, I decided to take a chance on this inexpensive guitar. After tuning it up, it sounded great, was super easy to play, the action was exceptionally smooth, and so on. The jumbo stainless-steel frets are awesome. The only improvements that I will make on the guitar are to change out the tuners for some Gotoh ones, polish the frets, put some pads under the pickups, new strings, and some copper shielding inside the cavities. That said, it's all good. The finish was really good on the guitar for that price range. If you are expecting a perfect finish while looking at it through a magnifying glass, nothing really needs to be said. This is a revised review, strictly because I bought the black version with the gold hardware as a second one. Still, all the pluses of the blue, but this one is a little different. Same pickups of course. The differences are that for some reason the gold hardware (tuners, selector switch, vol knob) is definitely better quality on the black model. Also, while the blue had a super thin shredder neck, the black one's neck is slightly thicker. Not a big deal, just different. Both are a great deal. I have to admit the black and gold model is really striking looking. ... show more
