  • I own Guitars 20x the Price. Then I Met the Monsoon.
Color: Violet Flame
We are truly living in a golden age of unbelievably affordable guitars, and this Leo Jaymz Monsoon Purple Flame is a flawless example. Design, craftsmanship, materials, comfort, price, rock swagger — stop me if I’m gushing. I played a Rickenbacker 330 for 30 years. My go-to gig guitar was an American Strat for ages. My best mate for countless sets was a handmade American Tele-style. And yet, I almost hesitate to type this too loudly, for fear my far more expensive guitars might overhear: this Leo Jaymz Monsoon wipes them off the table. Especially at $189. The guitar’s been in my hands for a week now. My entire setup? A quarter turn on the truss rod. That’s it. Plays like buttercream. It weighs just over 6 pounds, and with the belly cut and arm contour, I hardly know it’s there. Then there’s the price. How does Leo Jaymz do it? I’m a VP at a manufacturing company. Bills of Materials (BOMs) are part of my daily life. For this guitar to exist at this price, their materials sourcing and systems management must be extraordinarily efficient. Is there an award for extraordinary achievement in budget guitars? If not, there should be — and Leo Jaymz would take the top prize. ... show more

  • High Quality, Low Price
Color: Violet Flame
What a great guitar! Especially at this price. Came very well packaged with a high quality cable and some allen wrenches for adjustment. Arrived almost perfectly in tune and in flawless condition. Beautiful Violet Flame finish, lots of nice touches that say this guitar should cost much more than it does, including the beautiful one of a kind headstock, and the binding around the body, perfectly blended in under the clear coat, and along the sides of the beautiful Rosewood fretboard. Jumbo ball and stainless steel frets are a perfectly aligned and very comfortable to use. Tuners work great and the guitar has an overall tight and precise feel to it. Volume knob and three way switch for the double humbuckers also feel like quality parts. The sound is clear and powerful, very strong pickups and responds very well to effects. Can sound like a classical guitar or a heavy metal machine. The neck feels very slender and easy to get your hand around. Everything works well including the tuners which are very precise. That's the biggest takeaway for me is that this is a precision made instrument, and whoever built it cared about what they were doing. I heard in a review video that Leo James is a real guy and I would like to personally say Thank You for an amazing guitar at a super low price. I don't know if these will be affected by tariffs but I would recommend buying one of these guitars asap even though it would still be a deal at a much higher price. I'm sure there is more I could say but I we'll leave it there and strongly recommend that you buy this guitar. I will definitely be looking at other guitars from this brand. Shipping was fast and arrived sooner than expected. Thank you. I love this guitar. ... show more

  • Mostly good
Color: Blue Burl
Needing a new budget guitar, I scoured the usual YouTube experts and went with the Leo Jaymz Monsoon, blue burl finish. This is a beautiful guitar, not a flaw or blemish to be found. The bridge pickup is great, as in hot. The neck pickup was sunk at a weird angle in the cavity and very loose. A little foam under the pickup and tightening the screws helped (mostly). A truss rod adjustment helped with the buzz on the low E at the 9th fret. I'll put on some new strings after oiling the fretboardand maybe lower the action a little more, when I have more time. Overall, I'm pretty pleased. It's a $240 (with a $30 gift certificate) guitar. I do think I'll take the recommendations from the experts (who get their guitars free) with a grain of salt next time. Recommended, but be prepared to put a little work in. Updated:. When looking to lower the action, I noticed that the neck angle is off. The neck has a positive angle, if you lay the guitar down, the neck angle is up towards the headstock. I'm considering shimming the neck to lower the angle but that might be above my comfort zone. Not sure we have a luthier in my small town and I'm not sure how much I want to spend fixing a $210 guitar. The MusicNGear YouTube channel did a 1.5 hour review of this guitar and he had the same issue. Update 4/14. I sent the first one back and received #2 today. Everything that was wrong with the first, is fine with #2. The strings were really rough but are getting swapped out anyway. The frets are a little off, they touch the binding on one side of the neck but not the other. But really, for the price, an excellent guitar. Intonation is spot on, actions low, sounds great, fast neck. Too bad #1 had issues. ... show more

  • Dawn of the Monsoon
Color: Violet Flame
After watching the bald shredder on the tube I decided to get one. Right out of the box I loved the weight. Sadly, the fretboard was seriously dry, along with the strings which were terrible. I'm not a shredder but at sixty I can keep up with the times. I removed the strings, cleaned up the board with deep fretboard conditioner and prep, then added lemon oil(everything from dunlop). Next I polished the frets with steel wool although for some reason it wasn't too effective. I measured the neck relief with a straight edge ruler(fantastic and no issues, no bows). Then I moved around the board with a fretboard rocker. Some frets have slight rocking and height but easily fixed. I used Ernie Ball Turbo strings(great strings!!!!). The action with these strings comes at around 0.60 for the low E and 0.40 for the high E. Overall I cannot believe this is 189.00. Great buy!!..hope this helped. ... show more
