  • String slippage from nut. Don't buy it.
I am taking down the rating to 2-stars. The nut can't hold on to the thinnest two strings no matter how much you tighten the screw. When you bend the strings, they slip. Zero tuning stability. Not acceptable. Essentially makes the guitar useless. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OLD REVIEW Note for Leo Jaymz: In the next iteration of your headless, please shoot for a slim body like the Ibanez Q and S series. While I like this iteration very much, I think a slim body would make for a very nice guitar with the super light weight. Also use a higher quality/ heavier-duty locking nut to reduce chances of string slippage. Now for this guitar: Everything is perfect. There is nothing to complain about. Seriously. Just buy it. This is a great guitar at any price. I have the Hurricane as well and both are awesome. The barrels that you turn with your fingers to tune seem flimsy. But they seem to work fine. Tuning stability is fantastic - it is a hardtail after all. Pickups are fantastic. Fit and finish are fantastic. Weight is light. I changed the knobs to "speed knobs" as I do with every guitar and it looks and feels fantastic. Pots are super smooth. The locking nut is a bit of a learning curve. It is a very tiny, simple, metal contraption, so be patient. When you change strings, don't cut the strings. There is a chance that a string slips from the nut - causing tuning madness, especially the first two (high E and B) since they are thinner. Don't panic. Loosen the nut screw and pull on the extra length of strings with yourt hand and retighten screw. It will work just fine. After a few hours of playing, when you are confident that none of the strings are slipping past the locking nut, feel free to cut the extra lengths of the strings. ... show more

  • Fun practice rig
This is a fun little guitar. The neck’s is pretty wide but feels super smooth. The frets are pretty good, just a tiny bit of fret rock here and there, but super easy to fix. The zero fret is awesome, and you can get the action super low without much buzz. The neck’s straight, so you might wanna add a little relief. The bridge felt a bit flimsy at first, but a little lubricant made tuning way easier. The nut could use some work for sure, I saw some string slippage and had to tighten the screws a bunch of times to keep it steady. The pickups are pretty hot and don’t need to be swapped out, which is cool. Overall, a really nice guitar — lightweight, comfortable, great for practice. ... show more

  • Missing some key components to make it worth the $$
I want to start by saying the phrase "you get what you pay for" really no longer applies in the budget guitar category. I've spent equal to what I paid for this guitar and gotten much better hardware. The only saving grace(s)for this instrument are the SS frets, hi output humbuckers (that sound good), and the beautiful paint job (chameleon). The tuners on this guitar are the worst headless tuners I've ever seen. They're the cheapest of the cheap cast metal, VERY clunky to turn once tension is introduced, and extremely difficult to intonate. There is a janky Floyd rose style string lock but THERE IS NO BONE NUT. It has the zero fret but every bit of research I've done says a bone nut is needed even if it just serves as a guide for string spacing. Even my legit FR guitars have them! So I decided to upgrade said hardware rather than return this guitar for a refund (I still felt something for it). So about $60 and a couple hours of meticulous fine routing I have a guitar that is what it should have been from the start. Starting with the tuners I searched Amazon for a headless bridge single barrels and to my Surprise there are almost none and I didn't want to spend $120 to get a possible trash set. So I opted for a single barrel style but on a mounting plate and it has great reviews. Once received I did a swap knowing id have to drill 4 new mounting holes and 6 of the 12 old holes would not be covered by the new bridge. After installing and restringing I noticed the action was as high as string coming off a celos bridge! The saddles on this bridge were already set to their lowest which tells me the LJ tuners are low profile. Determined to make it work I routed a 4mm deep pocket for the new bridge to sit into (I should have went 6-7mm but maybe later) and now the string action is miles better. I also tossed the crappy string lock to a guyker lock and a black cattle bone nut. I didn't have to do anything to the nut other than glue it as it's only serving as a spacing guide. The is also no shielding tape/paint in the electronics cavity but I can't hear any noise when playing. Saying all that to now say what I like about the guitar as it was. No cosmetic blemishes, nice and comfortable shape, the flared "headstock" area is great for wall hangers, and the guitar feels very short even though it's a full 25.5" scale length. The 1/4 input is in a good spot, decent gig bag, comes with a cable with a 90° plug at one end (no picks included go figure), and a nice double-action truss rod that came with a very nice adjusting tool. Overall I like the guitar a lot now but it took more than I expected to get it there. ... show more

  • Not very good
Color: Transparent Green - Flame
The guitar was not good. Sent it back the next day. I tried to lower the string height and it did not help it was still high. The tuners were no good, I had a hard time turning them to tune it.. Looks, it was fine but playability was not. I do not know if I just got a crappy one. I would not recommend. ... show more
