  • Good product, a tad out-of-date for latest Lenovo laptops.
I'm using this with the P40 Yoga (which my company downgraded from Windows 10 to 7). The docking station works well, but there are some notable downsides, relative to the docking station in the office, which uses the OneLink+ cable, rather than the traditional USB 3.0 port. I do not like how this "docking" station does not charge or even hold the battery level of the laptop. It connects to the laptop through a USB 3.0 port and you still need to plug in your laptop separately. Even though it says USB 3.0 Docking Station, I didn't realize this docking station would connect through the USB 3.0 port, rather than through the OneLink+ cable, which does charge the laptop. Unlike with the newer OneLink+ Dock, this USB 3.0 Docking station requires that DisplayLink software has to be installed in order to allow the external display to work. The computer does recognize this and automatically prompts you for this. After installation and a reboot, the external display is indeed recognized and added as an extended display to the laptop. However, the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel does not recognize this as a separate display. Thankfully, this can still be managed through Windows Control Panel | Display. I bought this as a "Used - Very Good" item from Electro Spot through Amazon. It looks and feels brand new. Because it's an older model than the OneLink+ docking station, you can get it as a used (not really used) product about 1/3 as much as the newer one. ... show more

  • Great Buy to Boost Monitor Count
This is exactly what I needed to get my Ideapad Y700 to extend to a 4 monitor setup. I was kind of bummed out when I realized I couldn't buy a docking station or do anything with my ideapad to get it past 2 monitors (including the laptop screen). This has cut down on a lot of my cord clutter when I am working at home from my home office. I am currently running this laptop connected to 3 external monitors all 27" displays and all at high resolutions. ... show more

  • It’s good but other similar models are way cheaper than this
It’s good but seems price is still high for this dock.

  • Works exactly as advertised
Only thing that didn't work out of the box on linux was the DisplayLink, but that wasn't too tricky to figure out after googling it.

  • Limited Usefulness; Requires Laptop AC Adapter Even After Connected to Docking Station; No HDMI
Its OK if you still want to plugin your laptop to an AC adapter. The use case is really around plugging in many peripherals to your laptop such as a corded mouse, corded keyboard and printer. Since you can plugin a monitor to your laptop already this would be helpful for a person with multiple monitors (there are workarounds here to - think DVI monitor + DisplayLink via USB which can be done without this device). However, since many have moved onto wireless or bluetooth the usefulness is not as high as it could be. Also, the video adapters are DVI (think white plug), VGA (through DVI adapter), DisplayPort, and USB. No HDMI unless you buy an adapter or converter cable. ... show more

Yes, this will EXTEND your desktop. I plug my laptop into this so I can use two separate PC monitors. If I open my laptop it could actually be 3 separate monitors.

Somewhat disappointed which is partially due to not having done the due diligence on my part, only to discover that when using Red Hat Linux instead of Windows, the video ports are not supported, not due to Lenovo's fault but DisplayLink (at least at the time of this writing). Was able to make external monitors work through connecting them to laptop directly but that half defeated the purpose of using a dock. Also have not figured out yet how to use the laptop with screen closed. This is certainly not like the old Lenovo/Thinkpad docking stations, which were excellent. ... show more
