    • Defective Laptop and Difficult Return Process
If I didn't know any better, I would say the seller I purchased from was attempting to pass off a refurbished unit as a new one: laptop had immediate notifications of "OS image error" upon first boot and various glitches through initial set-up, all tied to the bloatware software that comes pre-installed (and which shouldn't even be operational during first set-up). After set-up, performance didn't match even half of widely reported online metrics, so the computer was a complete dud. The bigger issue in my case was the return process with Amazon: an absolute nightmare that cost me over $200 in extra costs. I purchased the laptop while on a trip and Amazon would only accept returns by pick-up, so I was forced to spend an extra full day in a hotel just for the privilege of waiting for a UPS driver to stop by when I could have easily dropped off the laptop at any of the UPS stores within a few miles. Considering I originally purchased the laptop because it was covered by Amazon's return policy, and under the expectation that if there was an issue the return process would be easy, this was a dealbreaker. I will never, ever!, purchase a computer any expensive electronics device from Amazon again. I would rather pay extra somewhere else but have a lot less stress if something happens to be wrong with it, which is all too common these days since pretty much every manufacturer is skimping on QC and shipping out large numbers of defective units. ... show more
