  • Well designed, built (quality solid wood), finished, and packaged (warning - cardboard packaging is full of irritating fibers)
Size: 20 L x 46 75 W x 24 25 H Style: Traditional Color: Brownbronze
I am very happy with this TV stand. Solidly built of quality, solid wood. Ingeniously designed: the main carcass is pre-assembled with hinges, so it unpacks flat, front sides fold out, center compartment accordions out, the two shelves go in to hold the compartment square, and the top screws on from beneath -- done. The stain is a nice medium-dark brown (not the light brown in the photo) and the finish is also very good without flaws. There is a 6"x 6" cutout of the front-upper left inside wall and a vertical hole in rear wall for power cables to be routed. The areas behind the fold-out face frames are open, allowing for cable routing, placement of surge suppressors, voltage regulators (keeping them away away from hi-def cables and components), etc. The glass of the solidly hinged door with clasp does not interfere with remotes. The unit is heavy enough that it sits securely on carpet -- no movement if nudged or bumped. The item was very well/securely packaged -- no damage in shipping at all. My only complaint, the cardboard packaging is reinforced with zillions of tiny, shiny fibers (not asbestos -- I had it tested by a highly accredited lab). These fibers easily dust off in large amounts. The stand was covered with it. For more than a week after unpacking the item, I experienced sore inflamed eyes, sinus headache, itchy rash on exposed skin, and mild cough with slight lung discharge. How much of the fiber became airborne and was circulated by my central heating? Unfortunately, I didn't discover these fibers until I took the box outside to break it down for disposal and saw the zillions of tiny fibers shining brightly in the late afternoon sun. These fibers easily flake off from the cardboard. I recommend not bringing the box inside. Unpackage outside: wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt tucked in, and dust mask, remove each piece of the stand to 4 mil. plastic sheeting and wipe with warm water with a small drizzle of dish detergent and a well wrung out sponge. As you wipe each piece, take it inside and place on another piece of plastic to be wiped again with just warm water. If package must be brought in, move slowly (to keep dust from getting airborne) and slowly place box on large piece of 4 mil. plastic. Unpackage slowly and carefully, if possible with central air off until finished. Slowly place packaging back into box and slowly take outside. Remove clothing and shoes (laundered clothes separately), then slowly pick up plastic sheet and carry outside. Vacuum floor area well. Check with recycler if fiber (I'm guessing fiberglass) reinforced cardboard is accepted. ... show more

  • JUST fits a 50" TV
Size: 20 L x 46 75 W x 24 25 H Style: Traditional Color: Brownbronze
It's a beautiful piece of furniture and was easy for a 71-year-old woman to put together. I would strongly suggest going with a larger cabinet if you have a 50" TV. The description said it would fit, and it does. However, the legs are only 3/4" from the angled front edge and 1/2" from the side edge. This puts the TV screen within 3/4" from the walls. A wider cabinet would have looked better under the TV as well. ... show more

  • sturdy, EZ build
Size: 46 in. W x 20 in. D x 25 in. H Style: 46 inch corner Color: Brownbronze
4.5 stars for this great little TV stand. All in all a fine piece, looks more expensive than the folding shelves I've seen, due to the heavy "wood," really nice finish and decent quality door handle. The one negative in the long run is a 1/4" deep groove running the length of the top front. It caught up little pieces of Styrofoam that I had to run a needle around the entire crack while blowing to get them out. This little crack will be a dust and dirt collector requiring occasional cleaning, like a belly-button lint catcher. A couple of short term negatives - I ordered Espresso, but got Chocolate Cherry, which is dark brown with reddish tones instead of the near black of Espresso. According to the box it is the same model number as stated in the description for Espresso. Asking Customer Service for a rebate fixes that, they usually give 20%. It is a very heavy box and might need 2 people to handle it, depending. Also to consider is the messiness of the disgusting crumbly static filled Styrofoam used in packing. If you can I recommend opening it outside. Mine had a lot of very small to big chunks that ended up all over the place. The worst part was the opening and unpacking. Once that was done, the rest was a snap. It unfolds and it is so simple to finish. I did have to feel around to find the 4 bolt holes and screw those in without looking. It is hard for a larger person to get into a position to see, but it went OK. Speaking of larger person, this thing held all 220 pounds of me just fine so it should hold your TV no problem. A thing I loved is the shelf and holes in back. I put my surge protector on the bottom shelf (shoved to the back when done, with a row of my favorite DVD"s showing in front) and ran all the plugs to it there, thereby making the only cords/cables visible in the back are the cable in and power out cords. So much cleaner looking than a power strip outside of it and all the cords showing. ... show more
