  • Expensive but small and with a character.
What I like is it character and very compact and lightweight body. Price, chromatic aberration and glare I don’t. Again, if you Leica enthusiasm I would strongly recommend Zeiss 35 1.4ZM instead.

  • Probably best 35 mm lens on the Planet
I broke down and bought a Leica M-E when I realized my photo printer was much sharper than my point-and-shoot camera. The reason for the Leica was to get the sharpest images with THIS world-class lens. I have only been playing for a week, but this lens is awesome!! I'm sure my photos will get better as I learn the Leica's quirks, but after a half hour with the manual, I have been shooting images with mind-blowing contrast range and sharpness that allows fairly tightly cropped images to be printed at 8x10 inches and still look stunning. I know this lens is ridiculously expensive, but it so far exceeds my expectations (which were high due to the on-line hype) that if razor sharp images, especially in low light, are important to you, I'd suggest saving your pennies and putting this lens on your wish list. It delivers on every ounce of hype! ... show more

  • Could be sharper wide open
Could be sharper wide open, aperture clicks are wimpy and get moved too easy. I have to use gaffers tape on the ring to keep it set. I much prefer the positive Zeiss clicks. The focus knob is too big. Again prefer the Zeiss knob. All in all and excellent build and super sharp when you close it down a little. Photo was taken with this lens wide open. ... show more

  • Perfect 'walk around' lens
This is the lens that stays on my 240-MP by default. 35mm just feels balanced and has the advantage that the lens is smaller than the wider 1.4 ones. The quality is superb. Only downside is the price, but that is all relative in the Leica universe.

  • Exemplary Lens
The perfect lens when you need to use just one. The throw on the focus is just right, the rings are all just tight enough without becoming difficult, and the optical qualities are just perfect from the smallest to largest apertures. The only complaint might be cost, but when you are buying Leica, you should know what you are getting into ... show more

Its an amazing lens. I have now used it for a couple of months. In this I have used it as my only lens for travel and street photography. It renders beautifully and photos appear to be in 3D.

  • helps create beautiful pictures
a superb lens. i've used it for 3 years at this point and it's one of my favorites due to its excellent design, focal length (total subjective) and its beautiful rendering. absolutely worth the money.

  • As sharp as they get!
This lens is as sharp as it's always been advertised. I have a 2+ year old M9 and regardless of whether I focus close or to infinity, this lens produces images as sharp as my 50 Lux (and at the wide end maybe a little bit sharper). If 35mm is attractive to you, then this is the lens you've got to have (if price is not a deterrent). ... show more
