  • Cost Effective Gardening At Its Finest!
Color: Pack of 8
I'm an avid gardener, I've tried various soil amendments, and this product has quickly become one of my favorites. Pros: Filling raised beds is expensive, with these coco coir peat bricks you get a great value for a great price. It is a great cost effective solution, I mixed it in with moisture control gardening soil and worm castings. My garden is beyond thriving! I used the coco coir as a component in my potting mix from seed starting to transplanting and it worked wonders for my plants. Its compressed form makes storage and handling a breeze. Its easy to use, just need to soak in water for expansion. When soaking the brick, I normally place it in a bucket and fill it until the brick is fully submerged and give it some time. It provides excellent moisture retention, great for long hot summer days. Cons: The water retention can become a problem for overwatering or root rot. For those who already overwater the bricks when expanding them, its a good way to learn how much water is too much water. I noticed after purchasing, these coco coir bricks have no perlite. There are other brands available that have added perlite. Perlite works great for moisture control as well as preventing soil compression. I definitely will try those next and see if I like them better. When removing the plastic packaging, it releases dust. It is a great idea to unwrap the coco coir brick inside a bucket to reduce dust fallout. I do believe the uneven sizing stated on the other reviews, could be a quality control issue. I ordered two 8pks and all my bricks were of equal size. ... show more

  • Perfect soil for my needs
Color: Pack of 10
There are so many reasons I like this product and will continue to buy it. First, the amount of soil that you get in each brick is much higher than if I bought the same amount loose. It doesn't take up as much space in my garden area. Using coco is great for sprouting and then I give the left over pads to the worms to turn back into useable soil. No waste here. I like that it is using less plastic, ships fast, doesn't smell bad when you add it to indoor plants and pots. It grows sprouts and other plants well. Has a nice airflow so you don't get rot like with heavy composts. All around the perfect option for sprouting and potted plants for me. ... show more

  • A more earth friendly peat replacement, an excellent seed starter
Color: Pack of 12
I use this product, expanded as per its instructions, and then it becomes the basis for many of my flower pot above ground garden, whether adding compost, garden soil, vermiculite and/or older potting soils, with a good dollop of organic dish washing liquid to allow the coco coir to absorb the liquids and rehydrate. Flower pot gardening requires fresh input annually, as the nutrients leach out by the end of the summer due to the necessity of frequent watering during our hotter than usual summers. Equal amounts of perlite and coco coir give a good mix for rooting softwood cuttings under a shade cloth. ... show more

  • Great plant medium!
Color: Pack of 4
What is wrong with people complaining about this coir?! I put a brick in a bucket and added water just below the top of brick and let it soak for 10 minutes, scraped it with my hands and it broke apart easily and soaked up all the water into a nice moist soil. Some people complained of little sticks in it. I had a couple....SO WHAT!?!? Sticks are organic material! It's not razor blades or dynamite! Get over complaining about insignificant things! I will purchase this again to use with my compost and potting soil. ... show more
