This was the first time I have tried a product like this. I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to install and how well the clamps would hold. I was pleasantly surprised to find the material completely manageable and I was able to secure it quite well to my exhaust system. Thumbs up! In my case, I wasn't using it in a motorcycle or high performance vehicle. I have a converted van, adapted for wheelchair users. When my van was modified, they routed the exhaust much too close to the fuel tank and the result was that the tank became distorted. To fix this, I added the fiberglass wrap on the pipe and the muffler, from before the tank to a bit after it. With some trepidation, I dared to touch the tank, near the exhaust work, after taking the van for a drive. I was pleased to find that the tank was more or less at the ambient air temperature. So, the wrap worked exactly as I had hoped. Perfect. The wrap is supplied with some simple rubber gloves. Their stated purpose is to protect your hands from fiberglass shards. Reading that made me a bit nervous, and I wondered if those shards would become an issue. Would my hands and arms turn all itchy, as when I was installing insulation in my home? Turns out no. With those gloves, I never felt a thing. The installation was easy and painless. Pro tips: plan out where you are going to put the stainless zip ties so you can get a good grip on them during the tightening phase. I first installed the wrap using long, plastic zip ties as I went along, and then later came back to replace the temporary plastic ones with the stainless ties. This two-step process allowed me to get a clean finish, kept the thick wrap under control and make the end result quite secure, as far as I can tell.

This wrap was easy to work with, but don’t waste your time with the supplied flat steel ties. They do not work and won’t get tight without breaking. I just used worm clamps. The supplied rubber gloves were a nice touch, just be sure to use them or else you’ll be itching for a week..

The heat shield works great and also seems to not absorb oil as I had an oil leak soon after install and when I removed the pipe it was clean. It was relatively easy to install, but was tricky around bends. I would also recommend wearing latex gloves during install as the fibers are very small and dig into your hands like splinters and you will feel them (and dig them out) for days afterwards.

Used on one of our trail 4wheelers after the aftermarket head pipe upgrade didn't have anything to re-mount the factory heat shield. Works great. The metal zip ties are good enough. Was able to keep it tight and looking good. I would recommend better quality stainless ties though if you got something more complicated than just a single curved piece of exhaust pipe like I had. It does a good job keeping the heat off of you.

This is pretty cheaply made it falls apart if you don't spray the f*** out of it with some high heat clear coat and keeps the fibers together better but you shouldn't have to do that if this was decent s***

The wrap comes as one roll in a box with multiple metal “zip tie” fasteners. There are extra which is helpful. The instructions were upside down on some pages and poorly written, but clear enough to get the idea. The wrap seems high quality and doesn’t discolor with heat. Dip the role in a bucket of water, fasten one end and then wrap it as tight as you can overlapping about a quarter inch for the best results. Happy with how it turned out (the picture make it look lighter than it is). Be sure to use the gloves included in the box as you’ll get fiberglass slivers.
