  • Cut and Extend Sections out with LED Extension Cable Works Great
Size: 32.8ft
The media could not be loaded. Yes I bought this kit to cut and see what works. If I destroyed it oh well. I had extra LED extension cables from the basic led color changing sets that are 4 prong connectors. Cut the 4 prong connectors off. Strip the shielding and the wire. Of course only 3 wires are needed so just strip 3 and not use/ cut off that extra wire sticking out. I had it working with 12ft of wire in between (testing) before hung them up. The top of the kitchen cabinets is 1 - 16ft strip. I cut the end off at the copper showing section and and measured how much extension wire was needed for the side of the cabinet to the top. I soldered the end cut off piece Govee LED strip to the wire and then soldered that to the other end that was the cut point. Now I needed to go over the Kitchen sink. I ran the extension cable throw the top of the blinds and soldered that wire to the Govee LED strip that was cut on the top part of the cabinet on the left side. I then placed the the remaining length of LED strip (after sections being cut off) on the top of the cabinets and evened out the space from left to right side. After cleaning the cabinets with a rag and rubbing alcohol where the strips will stick to. I then mounted the LED strips. Once I knew where it placed and cut and spliced the last extension wire and soldered that to the remaining length of LED Govee Strip light. The Connection to the brain of the unit. I also used extension cable. I cut the OEM 3 prong connector off of the Govee main controller. Stripped back the wires. placed extension cable in the middle for about 4 feet. The OEM Govee connections is a nice plastic push in pin system that clicks on the strip. So I cut that main cord in the middle and basically extended it. Still using the OEM Govee connection at the start of the LED strip. The second length LED strip is just a solid piece that is underneath the cabinet. It starts from the bottom of the cabinet (right side) of the sink and goes around up under the microwave and above the refrigerator. Hope this part makes sense. As the LED strip is stuck with the adhesive to bottom on the cabinet. When I got the microwave portion, I did not stick that on with the adhesive. I just tore the paper backing that was peeling from back and when I got to the microwave I left that paper on the LED strip. I curved the LED up the side of the cabinet and used a magnet to make it stick up in the left corner underneath. I used 4 more little magnets that are really strong to go across the Microwave. When the strip was back underneath the cabinet I pulled the paper backing off again and used the adhesive that was on the LED strip. We just put in a new Microwave. Using Magnets allows you to drop the led strip off of the appliance and it will just hang for cleaning and if you ever needed to switch out microwaves again. This made it easier when I had my old LED strips up that I used the magnets on. Having the LED strip go up the cabinet not attached on the inside wall part leaved it hanging quite a bit to have enough room switching out appliances. As you can see in the video the top LED strip is the only one that I cut and extended/moved over twice. The bottom of the cabinet on the left side of the sink is the end of one strip, and the bottom right side of the sink is the end of the other strip. Of course they would tell you not to do this. It will probably void warranty, make them accountable for replacing parts that the consumer messed up, will use a little power amperage from the OEM power supply, and so on. I have been checking the power supply and at full brightness it only gets a little warm. These are Bright I had LED lights in my whole house for years. These are really bright. When dimming the LED strips the power supply is still cool. All electronics fail faster with heat. If you would like more info or to see other ideas I have done with LED's write me on you tube. My channel name is the same as this user name on amazon search (LED Strip Light for House and Anywhere) on you tube and you will my video. ... show more

  • These really make a room fun!
Size: 65.6ft
My teenage son loves these. Lots of different colors and settings. They work great, are very sticky and can be cut if there is leftover.

  • Very nice set up for strip lights compared with other similar seeming kits.
Size: 16.4ft
UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM I have been using a lot of different accent lighting kits over the last couple of years, and variety of roles. Typically, I buy 5050 RGB lights, either by themselves or in a kit, and then use Wi-Fi controller to drive their behavior. This kid is different in that it is addressable by segments, meaning that along once trip, each set of three LEDs can be set to a desired color. This allows the number of lighting effects, animated effects, and gradients in a single strip. It also features a pretty sophisticated app that allows you to do a lot of customization, and picking of colors. I also have to say that although most of my RGB strips claim to be 16 million colors, in reality they don't seem to be very good at reproducing hues beyond primary or secondary colors. This lighting strip seems to be much more precise at its ability to produce true colors that largely match what you choose in the color wheel. So far, I've seen two drawbacks that have to do with luminance. One of them is that luminance seems to be disregarded in the color wheel. That is, choosing a darker version of a color in the color wheel won't actually darken the color as presented. This means that you couldn't have two segments that are the same color, for example, but at different brightness. This seems odd to me, but it is what it is. The other thing is that there is a brightness slider which will brighten or dim the entire strip, but at 1%, the strip is still quite bright. This strip also supports some conventional features, like effects based on sound input through a microphone, though I could not get them to calibrate to zero in my brief attempts, and then some very cool animated color schemes that sort of vibe with or suggest various moods. UPDATE: so having used these lights for a little while I can say that a lot of what I said initially holds true. The quality seems to be pretty strong as well as the color reproduction. However, given that the lights are Bluetooth controlled, and the only control they have on them physically is three buttons, one which turns it on, one which cycle s through colors, and one which flips through the activation modes like Sound Sensitivity and then what style, it's kind of amazing that you can't control these lights using something like Alexa or Google home. Also, as I stated before, the 1% brightness setting is very readily bright enough to read by, and the 100% setting is almost too bright to look at. This may mean it's actually better suited for your use, but it's worse for mine. I did just test now that the lights retain their setting if they lose power, so if they're on, and I remove the power, but when I restore the power the lights come back on set to the same color they were on, however for some reason it does this momentary sequence of showing red green and then the correct color. This isn't horrible, but it makes it possible to use the system with a smart outlet to turn it on and off using Google home or Alexa. I would say their ideal application is for recessed or concealed lighting and a common area where you're not typically turning them on or off a lot, or were you may occasionally want some party lighting or mood lighting. ... show more
