  • Very nice set up for strip lights compared with other similar seeming kits.
Size: 16.4ft
UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM I have been using a lot of different accent lighting kits over the last couple of years, and variety of roles. Typically, I buy 5050 RGB lights, either by themselves or in a kit, and then use Wi-Fi controller to drive their behavior. This kid is different in that it is addressable by segments, meaning that along once trip, each set of three LEDs can be set to a desired color. This allows the number of lighting effects, animated effects, and gradients in a single strip. It also features a pretty sophisticated app that allows you to do a lot of customization, and picking of colors. I also have to say that although most of my RGB strips claim to be 16 million colors, in reality they don't seem to be very good at reproducing hues beyond primary or secondary colors. This lighting strip seems to be much more precise at its ability to produce true colors that largely match what you choose in the color wheel. So far, I've seen two drawbacks that have to do with luminance. One of them is that luminance seems to be disregarded in the color wheel. That is, choosing a darker version of a color in the color wheel won't actually darken the color as presented. This means that you couldn't have two segments that are the same color, for example, but at different brightness. This seems odd to me, but it is what it is. The other thing is that there is a brightness slider which will brighten or dim the entire strip, but at 1%, the strip is still quite bright. This strip also supports some conventional features, like effects based on sound input through a microphone, though I could not get them to calibrate to zero in my brief attempts, and then some very cool animated color schemes that sort of vibe with or suggest various moods. UPDATE: so having used these lights for a little while I can say that a lot of what I said initially holds true. The quality seems to be pretty strong as well as the color reproduction. However, given that the lights are Bluetooth controlled, and the only control they have on them physically is three buttons, one which turns it on, one which cycle s through colors, and one which flips through the activation modes like Sound Sensitivity and then what style, it's kind of amazing that you can't control these lights using something like Alexa or Google home. Also, as I stated before, the 1% brightness setting is very readily bright enough to read by, and the 100% setting is almost too bright to look at. This may mean it's actually better suited for your use, but it's worse for mine. I did just test now that the lights retain their setting if they lose power, so if they're on, and I remove the power, but when I restore the power the lights come back on set to the same color they were on, however for some reason it does this momentary sequence of showing red green and then the correct color. This isn't horrible, but it makes it possible to use the system with a smart outlet to turn it on and off using Google home or Alexa. I would say their ideal application is for recessed or concealed lighting and a common area where you're not typically turning them on or off a lot, or were you may occasionally want some party lighting or mood lighting. ... show more

  • The best we’ve had!
Size: 16.4ft
I bought 3 sets for my 3 kids (all boys) last Christmas (2019– it’s now June 24th, 2020). They are still going strong, they’re used almost daily, so I can tell they hold up. If I were to buy any more, I’d buy this brand specifically. My kids LOVE them! One of my son’s friends asked me what brand they were and from where I’d purchased them because he was wanted some, and this kid has everything already! My oldest often leaves the house with these still on (grrr), and I end up unplugging them if he leaves his door open (update- I started just unplugging his entire strip, and he magically doesn’t do that anymore—mom win!)—but, sometimes I don’t notice, he leaves them on for hours, and they’re fine! Needless to say, they’ve a long lifespan! They’re LED, so they don’t use much electricity, which is nice when your son leaves them on for loooonnnnnggg periods of time. They work, they’re vibrant, they’re very bright and colorful, and they do everything the description states! One put them around the perimeter of his room along where the walls & ceiling meet, one put them along the perimeter of the underside of the top bunk in his bed, and the other put them on the perimeter of the underside of his bed, so they reflect on the floor. They all look very cool. But do pay attention to the length, as none of my kids’ applications go around 100%. Although they all look quite good and lighten the entire rooms, that is something to be aware of. And if you or anyone in your household has epilepsy, use common sense and don’t buy them—I imagine that would be a big problem, although you can set them to a steady light. I can see being able to do many different things/projects with these because they’re crazy bright, have the controls on the cord, can be extended easily (without the need for additional controls), they last, the adherents haven’t failed any of them, and my kids all put them on by themselves, telling me they’re very easy to install. Like I mentioned, they adhere well, but I still recommend wiping the surface with isopropyl alcohol prior to sticking them wherever (although my kids didn’t, and they’re ok... but I still would, just to be safe and thorough). If alcohol may harm the surface, a good soap and water mix would work, as long as any residue is rinsed off completely and the surface is absolutely dry. I 100% recommend these to anyone looking for LED adhesive strips. They’re fun, the price is reasonable considering the high quality, and they do exactly what they’re meant to. I hope this helps you with your purchasing decision!!! ... show more

  • they work! honestly VERY happy been running nonstop a month now
Size: 16.4ft
first off it was kind of unsure how well this product would work given the price but let me tell you hands-down without a doubt this thing is outstanding it’s been running nonstop for over a month in my daughters room. I’ve gone up and checked it quite a few times it never gets hot. It reacts extremely well to sound is perfectly controllable without having to use any kind of remote you definitely don’t need to use the app unless you do want specific control however, what I will say is these things are very bright and very dim. You can select that right off of the thing that mounts on the wall and on top of all of that when you mix this with some cloud cover, it just looks spectacular. It responds very well to sound. The lighting goes by tone so high-pitched tones down below pitch tones affect different points along the strip without using the app which does ask for all the permissions you could possibly give anything on your cell phone and I’m not giving some random person another part of the world full access to my phone and being able to use my account for everything so no I’m not gonna use this app however, what I will say is aside from that you could buy 100 of these all peoples houses and I’ve had multiple people tell me they would pay me at least two to $300 in order to have these things done. That’s a lot of money for something that takes maybe an hour to an hour and a half to accomplish it. Your kids will love it your family will love it ravers will love it whoever comes to your house and appreciate the insanity of these cool lights will love it and you yourself will love it so buy it when you buy it already. • Amazing light strip! Long, but detailed review.
Size: 32.8ft
I've found that Govee brand lights are one of the best of the inexpensive LED strip lights on the market. There are more expensive brands (such as Phillips or Lifx), but their prices are outrageously high, and are generally much shorter in length. The expensive brands do not have enough extra features to make either of those shortcomings worth it. Many other similar, less expensive, brands to Govee have less options or more limitations in the lighting effects. Pros with the strip: These are bright! They seem brighter than other 5050 lights I have used of the same length (32ft). From what I can tell, this strip does not seem to lose brightness near the ends of the strip, likely due to the larger power supply it connects to. Has a pretty long power cord so it should be easy to get the lights up into high places. The microphone control is on the control box and not within the device that uses the app. While you will probably not use it, the control box can be used to turn on or off the unit. There is a timer option to turn on or off the lights at different times or days. The only limitation to the timer is that it can only turn on or off; you cannot have a timer set to blink one day, solid color the next, and chasing effect another. Pros with the app: Lots of customizations in the app to choose from. This strip can set a large number of group addressable color sections all through the strip, as well as a rainbow/chasing mode. The app is pretty easy to navigate, and you will likely find many different color combos that you will love. You can have a setting where the strip changes to volume or music music. I found the app quite nice in ease of use and functionality. The Neutral: This is not waterproofed, so this strip is a bit delicate. Like other non waterproof strips, it is easy to twist or rip if not careful. The adhesive tape is simple double sided tape, not like a thicker mounting tape. It does hold up ok since it weighs less than the waterproofed kind, but your surface needs to be perfectly clean and flat or the strip may not adhere very well. Due to the nature of all dreamcolor style LEDs like these, you cannot cut this strip or physically connect multiple sets of strips together. This is not a WiFi based strip and instead connects via Bluetooth which means you do not need to have any kind of wifi signal/router near for it to work, but your Bluetooth device usually has a much shorter working range than wifi. This is not a single 32 foot strip, but two separate 16 foot strips that connect to a single control box in the center of them. Not a huge issue, but a single longer strip could make installation options easier. Since I have not found any other Dreamcolor LED's on the market that come in a single length 32 foot strip, I put this in the neutral section instead of the con. This has multicolors as well as a temperature adjustable white. You can control multiple strips at once, called a scene, but doing it that way has limitations; see below for details. There is no actual physical remote, so you will rely almost completely on the app. Cons with the strip: There is no sensitivity adjustment to the microphone so results may vary. The control box and power supply are rather large, and larger than other strip brands that I have seen. While the larger power supply and control box likely keeps the LED's brighter than other brands, it will be a pretty big eyesore if you can't hide them, especially if using this as indirect lighting in crown moulding. Cons with the app: Having two 16 foot strips separate from each other causes a bit of an issue within the app. Some of the rainbow effects start at the center of the 2 strips and emanate outward to each tip. Currently, there isn't a setting to have a chasing effect to start at one end and travel to the other strips end. The brightness setting is all inclusive for the most part, meaning any change to brightness effects the entire strip evenly, no matter if a solid color or a rainbow effect. This also means you cannot have 'blank' section in your patterns or addressable sections. Would love an option where you could have a moving bright color section that diffuses to a dimmer setting and then completely 'off'. Some transitions do include a stripwide fade to off setting, but does not work for individual sections at a time. Unfortunately the app does not save the exact color 'numbers' for future use, so some options in the pattern customization are hard to reproduce. Would love an option to know the exact ratio of color levels and be able to input the numbers in manually. There is a way to control multiple strips together in a scene, but you lose ALL of the chasing and addressable effects when controlling them in that manner. This means no glowing or rainbow style effects. If you want segmented or 'chasing' control when using multiple sets of strips, you need to adjust each strip separately. Getting 2 sets to time right together on chasing effects may be difficult. Other: I do not have Alexa, a hub, or any other kind of device or software that connects to LED strips so I am unsure if this can work with those systems. You should read the item descriptions a bit carefully; a different but similar looking strip by Govee had a few less group addressable options. I found that it needs to say 'segmented color control' or something like that to get the extra addressable options. This particular strip has these options. Conclusion: All strips on the market have some sort of limitation, and while this brand is no different, the pros very much outweigh the cons. While there is room for improvement, I am extremely happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • What else can I say? Govee is Number ONE!
Size: 65.6ft
For starters, I'd like to say that I'm a huge fan of LED lights. I have them everywhere. Above and below the cupboards, around my living room, in my bedroom, outside.... you get it. I've bought several brands on Amazon throughout the last several years. But this company makes the best! Usually you'll get some lights and a cheap remote with limited capabilities... and those companies call it good. Not with Govee. They have the most user-friendly, wireless app I have ever seen. With millions of possibilities!!!! It's a smart device! You can even use Google Assistant and Alexa to control it!! (I'll post more content later, as I have yet to set mine set up) Even better yet... hook them up to other Govee products!! They will work with each other for more immersive lighting!!! I put mine to a simple test. It took seconds before I found out how great these are... and I've been doing it wrong all along. The photos do not do it justice! More LEDs... and brighter! (What you want!) Go with Govee! The app rocks! The lights are vivid and look great! And there are TWICE as many LEDs per foot as the competitors... for the same price as what the other guys charge!!! Just check out my photos! ***In the pictures, they are both set to 100% blue on 100% brightness. Top is what I have actual mounted underneath my cupboards... bottom is Govee...what I'll be switching to*** ***Again, I'll put more content on here once I get them in place of my old ones!*** You like customization? The app has it!!! I'm a football fan. My colors are red and white! (I tried with a picture with red and white 50/50 rolled up) So many options, colors and patterns!! Trust me... this is the way to go. I've bought dozens of LED(W)(IC) on Amazon.... and I'm truly sold on these! Plenty of hardware to mount them anywhere available in the box. FYI... there is adhesive on the back of the of the entire strip of lights. I found out because a little stuck to me. And it IS strong!! Stick em anywhere! These are awesome! *Edit* I went ahead and unraveled a stand and used the app to set colors (please excuse my toes lol) Holy cow they are bright and look great!!! ... show more

  • Great Product
Size: 16.4ft
Still playing with these, bought them to use in a display cabinet. They work quiet well at lighting each area in different color, and varying levels of brightness. I do wish they were controllable by Alexa/Google, but I am fine using Bluetooth or the manual on/off in this situation. The brightest level is quiet bright, enough that I will likely be using ~50% inside the cabinet. One of the things I was curious about was cutting the segments. To test, I lit up the whole thing and rotated 5 colors (over 15 segments) to find where the break points were. After locating the last 2 segments, I cut them at the little copper points. Then, using a 3 pin bridge I reconnected them. While it took some fiddling to get them to make proper contact, the entire string continued to work without issue. Next, I tested out swapping the last two segments to see if the color follows the segment or the placement - learned that it follows the placement. So if you swap Segment 14 & 15, the color order stays the same no matter which segment is placed in which spot. There are a few segment breaks that have solder instead of bare copper, so I am curious about those. Some of the segments are also shorter than others - which leaves me wondering how that will work, if it will just count the number of LEDs from the start, or if the chip in each segment tells it how many LEDs. I'll post more details and photos once I've experimented further and get the project done. ... show more

  • Cut and Extend Sections out with LED Extension Cable Works Great
Size: 32.8ft
Yes I bought this kit to cut and see what works. If I destroyed it oh well. I had extra LED extension cables from the basic led color changing sets that are 4 prong connectors. Cut the 4 prong connectors off. Strip the shielding and the wire. Of course only 3 wires are needed so just strip 3 and not use/ cut off that extra wire sticking out. I had it working with 12ft of wire in between (testing) before hung them up. The top of the kitchen cabinets is 1 - 16ft strip. I cut the end off at the copper showing section and and measured how much extension wire was needed for the side of the cabinet to the top. I soldered the end cut off piece Govee LED strip to the wire and then soldered that to the other end that was the cut point. Now I needed to go over the Kitchen sink. I ran the extension cable throw the top of the blinds and soldered that wire to the Govee LED strip that was cut on the top part of the cabinet on the left side. I then placed the the remaining length of LED strip (after sections being cut off) on the top of the cabinets and evened out the space from left to right side. After cleaning the cabinets with a rag and rubbing alcohol where the strips will stick to. I then mounted the LED strips. Once I knew where it placed and cut and spliced the last extension wire and soldered that to the remaining length of LED Govee Strip light. The Connection to the brain of the unit. I also used extension cable. I cut the OEM 3 prong connector off of the Govee main controller. Stripped back the wires. placed extension cable in the middle for about 4 feet. The OEM Govee connections is a nice plastic push in pin system that clicks on the strip. So I cut that main cord in the middle and basically extended it. Still using the OEM Govee connection at the start of the LED strip. The second length LED strip is just a solid piece that is underneath the cabinet. It starts from the bottom of the cabinet (right side) of the sink and goes around up under the microwave and above the refrigerator. Hope this part makes sense. As the LED strip is stuck with the adhesive to bottom on the cabinet. When I got the microwave portion, I did not stick that on with the adhesive. I just tore the paper backing that was peeling from back and when I got to the microwave I left that paper on the LED strip. I curved the LED up the side of the cabinet and used a magnet to make it stick up in the left corner underneath. I used 4 more little magnets that are really strong to go across the Microwave. When the strip was back underneath the cabinet I pulled the paper backing off again and used the adhesive that was on the LED strip. We just put in a new Microwave. Using Magnets allows you to drop the led strip off of the appliance and it will just hang for cleaning and if you ever needed to switch out microwaves again. This made it easier when I had my old LED strips up that I used the magnets on. Having the LED strip go up the cabinet not attached on the inside wall part leaved it hanging quite a bit to have enough room switching out appliances. As you can see in the video the top LED strip is the only one that I cut and extended/moved over twice. The bottom of the cabinet on the left side of the sink is the end of one strip, and the bottom right side of the sink is the end of the other strip. Of course they would tell you not to do this. It will probably void warranty, make them accountable for replacing parts that the consumer messed up, will use a little power amperage from the OEM power supply, and so on. I have been checking the power supply and at full brightness it only gets a little warm. These are Bright I had LED lights in my whole house for years. These are really bright. When dimming the LED strips the power supply is still cool. All electronics fail faster with heat. If you would like more info or to see other ideas I have done with LED's write me on you tube. My channel name is the same as this user name on amazon search (LED Strip Light for House and Anywhere) on you tube and you will my video. ... show more
