  • Great gift for an ER trauma nurse or paramedic you know and love!
I had a cheap pair of trauma shears for 15 years that cut so well (I cut off a leather biker jacket with them once), I treasured them. Then I lent them out and they got broken. Several of my colleagues had these and I love my Leatherman knife tool, so I decided to splurge. I love these shears! They cut great; used them to cut off a leather boot on a trauma patient a couple of weeks ago. The ruler is useful for measuring wounds when I don't have a tape measure or sterile cotton tip package handy. I have no use for the seat belt cutter as yet or the window smashing knob as I'm an ER nurse not a paramedic so no opinion on that. I have the holster but don't use it often as it does not work well with my scrubs. But the folding ability does fit well in one of the cargo pockets on my scrubs. The weight does pull my pants down a bit so don't overload your scrubs if that's what you wear. Don't lend them out or get them engraved if you do. We had a trauma surgery resident steal a pair from a coworker during a trauma code and refuse to return them; she had a heck of a time getting them back from him! Best part is I should be able to get them sharpened if the edge dulls. Love these shears will buy again if I lost these (not likely to break, that well made). ... show more

  • Will it Cut? Yes it will!
When I first opened the box I fell in love... The weight and feel of the shears were immediately impressive. My wife is a nurse so I've held a few shears in my hand. If I needed to use these all day every day they might be a little bit heavy, but I got these for my Offroad-FAK and so I'm not going to be using these every day... hopefully! My first IFAK was stolen out of my Jeep so my wife bought me a replacement and she had it laser engraved... SUPER COOL! I love the holster that allows you to store the shears folded or open.. it has it's own belt clip if you don't want to wear the holster. I like the window breaker and the ring cutter. You never know what situation you are going to be in during an off-road accident. One tool to perform so many functions will be valuable. It even has a 5cm ruler on the cutting blade to measure lacerations and puncture wound size. The only negative I have read about is that they can rust if you do not maintain them regularly but I have not used them yet so I can't speak to that issue. ... show more

  • Very cool looking.
I'll start off with I'm not in the first responder realm so I purchased these with the intent of using them to cut rope/cord more than anything else. They look amazing and you can see in the picture they cut very well both with the primary shear and the ring cutter. They also feel very well made and durable. With that said one thing I noticed right out of the box is that some of the screws feel a little lose and the shears have quite a bit of play in them. Looking at the screws it appears it takes 2-3 different tools to make the adjustments to tighten them up, one of which I'll have to buy. Security Torx, why? The other tools would be regular Torx/Philips. Initially this looked like it could be used for camping fishing too however I think I'd be scared of getting it dirty as taking it down to clean it doesn't appear to be a fun task. If you're designing something that will likely come in contract with human blood you need to be able to quickly and easily disassemble and disinfect it. If I was a first responder I think the cleaning alone would make me stick with a disposable pair. I would like these a lot better if they used 1-2 different tools and if that double sided tool came with the shears and was incorporated in to the sheath. I do like the molle sheath and the way you can store it folded or unfolded and this will make attaching it to my ifak quite easy. I also like that you can rotate the sheath so the draw position can fit your needs. Overall I like them and I might come back and move this up to 4 star after some use but for now the disassembly/cleaning and them arriving loose is putting me closer to 3. ... show more

  • Rust rust rust
They’re great shears but they rust and you can’t use them. My rusted in the first week and I feel like just wasted money . Now they’re hard to open and close

  • Very sharp and very cool.
When you get down to it these are probably a little overpriced for what they do, but they are still pretty darn cool and sharp as hell. I like how they can be stored in the holster folded up or deployed. Only complaint I would have is that they do end up with some surface rust. Seen others here make that complaint as well. No idea how this is happening as they are advertised as being stainless steel and mine are always kept clean and dry. Contemplating keeping them covered in a light coating of vegetable oil or something to keep it from spreading? ... show more

  • Truly an impressive tool!
I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend. She works in animal rescue & is an LVT professionally. She absolutely loves these. We first saw them be used on a sea turtle rescue & she immediately wanted a pair. ThankfullyiI was able to find them in red (her favorite color) & she couldn't have been happier. These are extremely solid & truly a quality made tool. I can't recommend them enough. ... show more

  • Great tool! Albeit a bit expensive.
This tool should replace all the other so called scissors found in pre-assembled survival kits however tat would mean that a $30 survival kit would have to sold for $100 or more and that is pretty expensive. But since I'd rather have a great tool instead of a cheap one I bought it! So it's up to you to decide.... ... show more

  • A must for nurses
We got these for our daughter as a Graduate in Nursing gift. She is a new RN and used them for the first time a few days ago when "no one" had scissors to cut jeans off a leg of an emergent patient. These cut like butter and everyone was so impressed that the other nurses are going to order. She hasn't used the other attachments yet, but again she just started in her profession and she is confident she is fully prepared to handle anything that comes her way. Thank you Leatherman for a great product. ... show more
