I cannot understand any of the negative or lowered ratings. This is a naturally tanned leather item - so the colors WILL be different (and vary). It is veg and sun tanned - no chemical smell at all. The leather WILL develop its own characteristics over time. As this is a natural leather product it needs to be maintained (yes, that means soaping it and oiling it to condition and maintain the leather). The stitching is nicely done (both machine and hand-stitched elements). The closure buckles are sturdy. This has more space internally than the pictures give you to think - and they are PADDED! This is about to become my one and only bag for my laptops and carrying all my essentials for work. This is an EXCELLENT bag! Great product! great price! Others should probably read the 'Thank you' letter from Anshul Purohit with good care information instead of making up excuses to complain. [EDIT 4 SEP] I will offer ONE more comment after using this bag. I am a HEAVY user of all my gear. The ONLY issue I have encountered are the rivets attaching the handle. First use and one rivet failed entirely. I would suggest the makers either double-course the rivets OR use bulkier rivets. The only other option would be to stitch before and after the rivets to just reinforce the handle area a bit more - since it's going to take a fair bit of abuse. Second to that - I've added a small metal bar on the inside of the back and also to the cover / flap to prevent the bag from sagging in the middle. That's mainly due to me carrying too much, no question, but it never hurts to strengthen things. Just used some flat stock - and ran eight (8) rivets in each bar (four in the corners, and two pairs roughly equally spaced top and bottom of the bar for added strength. Other than that - this is one helluva sturdy bag! I doubt you could make it yourself for this cost.

As one who works in carpentry, electrical, and leather-work, I am happy to say that I was beyond impressed with the craftsmanship in this product! Once receiving my bag, I immediately went to observe the stitching, and I am happy to say that the consistency, in conjunction with some slight variation, as well as the stitching patterns [alone] proved to me the quality of the product. Most people would assume "sloppiness" when seeing variation in stitching patterns, or in the colour of the leather. However, when you purchase a product that is made by hand, you want to see slight variations in things like stitching patterns. I did have one slight issue with my bag, as a rivet (holding the main security strap to the top flap) was loose. I was reassured that even such a slight (although effective issue with functionality should it have completely failed) would be attended to and corrected in whatever manner necessary by the vendor. However, I did not have to go through him to repair this, as I have the tools to repair it myself. I would highly recommend this bag to anyone looking for a high-quality piece of craftsmanship. While it is not as elegant as some other bags and briefcases are from bigger named and higher tier brands, I am positive (after seeing the workmanship in those other brands) that this product, though "rugged" in a certain sense, will long out-last its competition. You will not find a better-made, full leather briefcase/messenger bag/satchel for a better price, or (in this humble man's opinion) for any price. Period!

My husband isn’t able to use it. The smell is so bad. I would like to say it smells like leather but not even close. It smells like a farm... before you clean the horse stalls. I hate to say that...BUT THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE!!! It has been hanging outside for 2 weeks now and we tried to bring it inside and we were gagging within 5 minutes!!!!

Update: With a time and wear and tear, the leather has relaxed a bit making it easier to manage closing the buckles. So far so good, this case seems to be aging well with moderate use so far. Although clearly disclosed prior to purchase, I don't think the buckles are going to be an effective closure mechanism. Trying to pack the case and close it quickly just does not happen. You kind of have to fiddle with the buckles for a minute to get things secured. It has lots of sections and zippered compartments to organize your things. I will use this case as work bag to carry my laptop and necessary items for work and everything I need should fit in one of the compartments. The case is attractive and should wear well over time. Overall, I'm glad I purchased this item.

I liked this bag when I first bought it, and I still like it now. I have used this bag every day for school and a variety of other things that I do. It is fair to say that this bag has been used well. I expected that for the cost and the supposed craftsmanship, I was getting a bag that would last me at least a year, hopefully, more, but I was wrong. Within about 5 months, the front buckle of the bag has broken off from the leather and snapped so now I cannot attempt to put it back in, Both buckles on either side of the bag have broken apart, making the bag carry funny and look janky from afar. The stitching on the back has come loose, and the front and sides of the bag are following. I have had other leather bags that have managed to hold up for far longer and far better. Personally, I would say do not buy this product. maybe with some significant changes and reinforcement, this could be a good buy, but if you are planning to use this bag for anything other than leisure, spend your money elsewhere.
