With two modes of play, kids can cast 12 coding spells that make Skye light up, dance, and follow her ball, or switch to code mode to create their own paths and challenges using beginner-friendly commands. Designed for ages 4+, this educational STEM toy helps beginners explore foundational robotics and computer science concepts through imaginative, story-driven activities. As kids follow guided adventures or create their own game scenarios, they strengthen critical thinking and reasoning while staying fully engaged in interactive play. • Good for teaching early childhood coding
I have purchased two different coding critters. Skye the unicorn is the one with more precise movements that correlate with the codes. A right or left turn code, for example, is closer to a 90° angle. I did not use the wand accessory much, nor the different coding modes. They were fun for the children to see sometimes, but I didn't feel they coincided with the objectives I had for my preschool classes. But Skye as a Unicorn was an excellent media to interest children in early principles of coding. ... show more

    • Great learning toy
This is so much fun and easy to use. Bought it for a 3 year old knowing it was a little below recommended age guidelines and they have no problems figuring it out and using it! Just as much fun for the adults as kids. We played for most of Christmas together with this!

Update: we had to exchange our first one, as written below, the remote didn't work straight out of the box with new batteries. The new one is awesome! Kids love it! Does exactly what it's supposed to. Daughter that got the kitty cat without the remote is now jealous of the remote. Lol ----_-----_----_-----_----- Straight out of the box, with brand new batteries, ours is not working. I have reached out to customer support for help. I'll see how it turns out and adjust our review then. We got the kitty cat coding critter too and it's working great. Kitty cat has buttons on its back and doesn't have a remote, which seems to be our weak link. Both kids are fighting over it now. It's pretty awesome. But I got two for a reason... 🤦 ... show more

    • My daughter loves it!
Bought it for Christmas and my daughter has been playing with it every day since. There are so many spells available and the second mode is also very enjoyable. We have yet to understand how to use the cards but she loves it so far.

    • This toy did not work.
I also have the dragon MagiCoder set, and it worked really well, but Skye the Unicorn doesn’t work. I put in brand new batteries, and even took them and put them back in to ensure that they weren’t in backwards. Both the wand and the unicorn make noises to indicate that they have turned on, but the unicorn will not move with any code, and the unicorn will not go out of spell mode. I have tried turning them both off and on again several times. Again, the dragon set I got worked great, but for some reason, the unicorn set I got seems to be a dud. Pretty disappointing, as I was hoping to use it with my students. ... show more
