Great bday present for my 4 year old, she feels like she has a big girl tablet and I don’t feel like I got her something that’s poisoning her brain. It’s filled with educational apps and games that she really loves, they’re not too complicated for her to get the hang of but they keep her engaged, plus the subscription is very cheap. It’s more solid than I expected, it actually feels like a real piece of tech, the bumpers are nice and chunky and the screen is toddler finger proof. Sometimes it has a tiny lag transferring between system menus like some of the cheaper android phones used to but it runs remarkably smoothly in the apps and games. Definitely worth the price, I wasn’t expecting something this well built. 👍 ... show more

    • Perfect for preschool age to 2nd grade
Color: Green
My little one loves this. It has so many educational games and activities. No WiFi required and it is so much better than handing over an iPad that has too much access to other materials.

    • Decent kids tablet
Color: Green
Update: Started glitching like crazy right before our return window closed. Unfortunately, we returned it. Prior to the Leap Pad, we had a kids kindle 7. Compared the kindle, the Leap Pad has way more parental controls. This is a plus for me. The kids kindle unlimited content was showing my kid all kinds of stuff despite me explicitly blocking certain key words. The Leap Pad will allow your child to use Leap Search which connects to the internet. You can pre approve websites in the parental controls and even block certain areas of a website. I approved Outschool, PBS Kids, Lalilo, Explorify, etc. If you approve Outschool you also have to approve Zoom and log in. The only downside of the leap pad is that you cannot add “normal” apps. You can only buy apps through the Leap Frog store. They are priced similarly to what a game cartridge would be for the old Leapsters. You can also buy shows like Octonauts and RescueBots for the about the same price as a DVD. Or you can pre approve Netflix on Leap Search. The stylus on this is awesome when playing games, especially Leap Frog Academy. (The LF Academy is similar to ABC Mouse, it is not the equivalent of Amazon Kids Unlimited.) The built in stand is a bonus. The battery is garbage, it lasts about an hour fully charged. Bottom line, if you’re looking for an inexpensive kids tablet that’s easy to lock down, this is it. Screen quality/graphics are actually clearer than the kindle 7. ... show more

    • Educational, fun, expensive, cheap device, get warranty
Color: Green
I had it for over a year now and it has pros and cons. The device itself is cheap, I had to return the first one because it quickly had issues with charger port. I was gracious for amazon replacing it so I got the warranty for the second one, which I recommend because I had to exchange it again because it just suddenly would not hold a charge. Also it will freeze semi frequently, kids always panic lol. So far a restart fixes it. Positives is that the kids really love the games they are expensive, and almost no games are included with set up. The cheapest games are 10$ and go to 25$ and they offer bundles of like 4 games for 20-30$ but never the good games are included. They have sales on major holidays so that helps save money. The device and its games really are fun and educational. They make learning easy and fun, it's a great way to distract you kids and know the content is safe. I dislike that leap pad pushes the heck out of there popular games with ads so kids are never content and always wanting more more more... I also dislike that the main learning game ''Academy'' is a yearly subscription on 40.$$$ which I bought for my 3 and 4 year old and they almost never used. Now it's expired they are 4 and 5 now and love it. I DO like that you can use the academy game on your cell phone as well as the device and it syncs your progress. I really dislike that it requires sooooo much money to get a good group of games. The description of the games on the web page are terrible and there are no refunds if you download a game you don't like. I wanted to give 3 stars because the device is cheap, I got over 200$ invested in just games and then it stops working... exhausting and disappointing. I gave it 4 stars because the kids really love it and DO get a lot out of it. I recommend buying the warranty! ... show more

    • TURNED ON ONCE TO SET UP NEVER USED- DOESNT TURN ON
Color: Green
I’m extremely disappointed with this purchase. We received the LeapFrog Academy as a Christmas gift for our child, and unfortunately, we were never able to actually use it. It only turned on once during the initial setup. After that, it completely stopped working and will not turn on again. We made sure it was fully charged and followed the basic instructions, but nothing worked. For how pricey this product is, it’s very frustrating and disappointing. It was especially upsetting having to tell the family member who gifted it to us that we never got to use it and that it doesn’t work at all. This was meant to be a special gift, and it ended up being a complete letdown. Unfortunately I would not recommend this product based on our experience. Poor durability, screen quality, poor quality ... show more

    • Good buy!! Grandson loves it!!
Color: Green
3 yr old grand LOVES his “Taa-blet”!! I bought this for our family vacation drive. Held his attention and is able to use it on his own. Screen quality is very nice! I also bought the protective carry case that has a pocket for the plug in battery and accessories. Good buy!

    • 4.5 stars
Color: Green
I like this tablet for my almost 3 year old. He had a Kindle tablet that a friend got him (against my wishes lol) and I really dislike that tablet. He gets really crazy when I take the Kindle away and somehow he gets on YouTube and finds Cartoon Network Adult Swim or other weird videos. With the Leappad, he can't do that. There are some videos from some of the apps I downloaded, but most are educational. I would take away a star because the apps are kind of expensive and Leappad Academy isn't cheap either. I'm not saying it's too expensive and that it's not worth it, it is worth it, but the apps should be more affordable for people who buy the tablet. Especially individual apps. I was honestly pretty surprised at how much I had to spend for just a handful of apps. Despite this, my loathing towards the Kindle tablet prevents me from taking a star away lol. Also, I've noticed that my son isn't crazy attached to the Leappad like he is with the Kindle. I let him play with the Leappad when he wants throughout the day, and he doesn't sit on it all day. He also doesn't freak out if I take it from him to do something else. He totally melts down if I take the Kindle from him. To me, that's another big plus in favor of the Leappad. He doesn't seem obsessed or addicted to it. ... show more
