  • Good Product
Color: WOODEN-30 to 115HP Wheel-1
I read a lot of reviews about missing parts, broken parts, and misaligned predrilled holes. I just want to report that I had none of those issues. Perhaps QA has improved since some of those reviews. It went together easy with just a screw driver, a ratchet, and two deep sockets. The diagram in the directions could be a bit more clear, I would suggest use the photos amazon has as a reference. Also and this key.... DO NOT TIGHTEN ANY OF THE NUTS UNTIL IT IS FULLY ASSEMBLED. If you have anything that needs to be corrected, It could be the difference between a 30 second correction and a 30 minute correction. The screw heads are soft cheap metals so it may be tough to undo / redo stuff. Bottom line is make sure you got it right and then tighten everything at once. I have not mounted my Honda outboard on it yet, but it seems to be built well and is more than enough capacity to support the motor. . Perhaps a some clearcoat on the wood piece would be a nice improvement. ... show more

  • It Works As Described!
It was easy to put together which took only about 15 minutes. It holds my 2.5 hp motor with ease. It isn't cheap though, but if could have been worse. All, and all I am satisfied with the purchase.

  • Looks simple
Color: WOODEN-15 to 30HP U
Without the included picture of the truck being put together I would not been able to do it. These are round tubes being bolted together with straight bolts. I got it more or less right the third time. Ended up at the hardware buying missing bolts. China-ikea. You can see in the diagram that a main connection was just forgotten about, requiring connecting holes to be drilled between 2 tubes crossing. TWICE! The tube of whatever gauge is quite heavy and fairly hard. No way to clamp, so yards of tape had to be used. It was very close to the U-shaped bottom piece is connected with two short capscrews (from the store). Saw no distortion of metal from tightening bolts with other holes so close by. Quality touches in the open ends of tubes being capped for a nice finish. Closed ends helped laying out how it had to be assembled. How they predrilled all those holes as well as they did is a small miracle. All the nuts had nyloc-like O-rings embeded in them, not as stoppers, but to keep them from vibrating off. Another quality touch. The wood clamp-board is a nice piece of close-grain hard pine. Wheels way too massive, but.. Another special is an unannounced smaller black tube of a certain length.. Only possible place for it would be strung on the axle, dress it up, make a bit more support to track the wheels, which wobble on their skinny axle. There's something more, some other reviewers mention it. The weight of my OB clamps right over the wheels. Actual weight is about 59 lbs, it'll be more, it's TOO easy to get it moving. The wheels are the fulcrum, like a teetertotter, the weight up high like it is makes it feel like the motor could topple over backwards real easy. With the motor mounted, it can't be left alone - on a float at the marina the thing can can fall on its handles. There's some real danger here. It wouldn't take hardly a tiny push from a toddler to get that thing off balance!! ... show more

  • One poor picture to assemble
Bought this because the new dinghy motor weights about 100 lbs. The instructions are almost non existent. One poor picture. I am pretty good at putting things together, and yet, I had to take part of it apart 3 times to get the proper parts in the proper order. After its all together, its not square. But close enough to work. Makes moving that motor around very easy, as long as you can pick it up that high. ... show more

  • Cheap hardware. Less than desirable fitment and alignment
Color: WOODEN-30 to 115HP Wheel-1
This review is for the 315 pound rated stand. Pros: went together fairly easy, probably because of the rather large holes that allow for misalignment issues. The board (wood) seems like it should do the job, but it is a soft wood. For the money it's not a bad stand I suppose. Definitely not a Garelick. Cons: The hardware is what you would expect from China, soft alloy steel bolts with wide shallow grooves in the head that strip/twist out easily when used with the nylon lock nuts provided. The washers are thin and flimsy and could be more robust. The tube to tube fitment from the upper handle assembly to the lowere rails is extremely loose and could definitely benefit from a tighter fit. Holes were off some, but not so bad that any had to be modified. The axle to wheel fitment is also rather loose and floppy. A few extra washers could help sturdy up the wheels a bit. Conclusion not a bad stand. Take your time to dry fit everything first and start to gradually tighten up all the fasteners. I found that a bit of tweaking as you go might me necessary to get the alignment all worked out to get everything running true and level. I purchased this stand to hold my 1947 Evinrude Big Four and so far it seems to be sturdy enough to hold that 185lb old work horse. Hope this review helps those that may be interested. Wish Garelick was still producing stands! ... show more
