The mug is perfectly as advertised. If you buy from Amazon, beware. They will ship in a non-bubble wrap bag with one sheet of tissue paper around it. I bought two the first time and had to get it replaced because the mugs were shattered upon delivery. The replacement was one piece because it was shipped individually. Not a genuine Le Creuset! It might happen when you first but the cup or after a month or two (conveniently) but the handle has a cheap coating on it that makes it spark and crackle in the microwave. I DO NOT recommend this cup. Be careful
