It also protects the camera lens because they are surrounded with rings that are taller than the lenses so when you set the phone down they don't touch the table. The wavy edges along the sides, top and bottom make it easier to hold the phone while using it and makes it less apt that I will drop it. VERY easy to put on the phone.
