  • Great product for the price. A little cryptic to use.

  • no lab grade microscope but very fun for casual observation
Pros and Cons with this product! It would be really beneficial to mention to those who work with microscopes, this is ABSOLUTELY not the magnification it advertises- try maybe a tenth of that. I think the misinformation here is that 1000x is typically achieved by using a 10x ocular lens (the eye parts you look through), and a 100x objective lens (which I think is akin to what this microscope has) but because it lacks an ocular lens the multiplier of 10 you would apply to a 100x objective lens isn't there. Tl;Dr don't buy this expecting to see bacteria, not even tiny microorganisms like rotifers and paramecia, it's more of a dissecting scope- not too shabby a quality of one, at that. Nothing compared to what you'd use in a lab, but for fun at-home use, it's lovely. For the general critter and item enthusiast however, this device works wonders! It's extremely simple and easy to use, straightforwards when it comes to taking photos and menu navigation, and the lag of the screen is pretty minimal so you'll see the item you're peeping at move almost exactly in sync with the camera as you turn it (less so if you're used to fancy monitors of course), the quality of the camera and screen are pretty clear, it's small but good gosh is it nice to be able to focus on an object without the pain of focusing on the tiny dot of light on normal eyepiece-equipped microscopes. The microscope itself can be removed from its stand and used on items that don't quite fit under it, which is really nice on the go. It has a hard plastic exterior and thus is EXTREMELY LIGHT! A delight for kiddos and older folks since lugging normal microscopes about is quite a tiring endeavor. It's darned good for the price you pay so I'd highly recommend it, despite the advertising qualms on magnification. Seeing my little garden of lichen and moss up close and personal and watching the springtails and mites crawl about these little alien-looking forests of fungi and flora has been a magnificent experience! Say nothing of how neat it is to see the insides of translucent snails and worms digesting meals, just fascinating. I cannot wait to give it to grandma so she can enjoy her garden in a whole new way and hopefully relive a bit of her lab days working with tiny shrimp species. ... show more

  • A very fun... and interesting... starter microscope
We got this microscope very specificially, to look at plants. This thing is so cool though that I’ve pretty much put everything I can fit under the scope lol The clarity of the screen is fantastic, and it is SO easy to use. It can be a little finicky when you are trying to find the item under the scope at first, but it doesn’t take long to figure it out. Adjusting the magnification is super simple, and I added an extra micoSD card so I could easily save and transfer the pictures taken on it without hooking it directly up to the computer. You can also record videos of what is under the scope. We are not using it for anything very “scientific” or technical, but it is very fun to “play” with and see different things up close. I think it would be great for kids to start with and explore different things. My husband took it over my moms house, and they are now obsessed with it too and my mom will be getting my brother one for xmas. She immediately asked me for the link the first time she used it. In case you’re curious, no matter how hard you try, I was unable to see the demodex mites on my face :( I know it’s a weird thing to look for, but I was morbidly curious since nearly all adults have them. I did not try to do a skin scrape and put it on a slide, which may have been my issue lol If you found this review helpful at all, please click the “Helpful” button underneath :D I strive to be as thorough as possible, as I also rely heavily on Amazon reviews. ... show more

  • Cool but not great for major magnification.
You can really only zoom in to things you can see with your naked eye. You can't really zoom to microscopic levels which my 10yr old son wants to do.

  • The image is super clear!
I am still figuring it all out but I love the picture quality and the fact that is very simple to use!!

  • Good microscope but base is small.
The picture quality was fine and controls were ok. My only dislike was the very small base which made it hard to use it the way I wanted to. If you just want to look at slides then it's plenty but I used it to look up circuit boards. Luckily I had another base and it fit perfect and was able to use it the way I needed to. ... show more

  • good little microscope
I like the microscope a lot, I have been looking for one that was easy to use while looking at my trichomes. It magnifies up to 4 x, which could be better, but for the price, it works well for what is needed. One downside, it does have a camera. but, at least as far as I have figured out, you can't share the photos. ... show more
