This is a very nice hand held, foot-weight driven aerator for gardening and lawns. I was getting brown patches in my lawn from the soil being compacted and not allowing water to be absorbed, so the roots were being starved of water and nutrients. This makes quick work of putting in (15) nail sized holes at a time, thus allowing the water to penetrate the soil surface. I do suggest a slow drip watering of the area the night before if your ground is very compacted. Putting together this item was very quick and easy with the included wrench. Just position the (15) nails into the head of the tool, and screw them down with the provided bolts. The two handles also easily bolt in, and the steel tubing has a nice sturdy feel to it. I did need to retighten the bolts after a few uses, and that took a total of 2-3 minutes. After a week of aerating and watering, I can see the grass returning green at the soil level, and new growth coming up. This really is a great tool since you can apply it to small spaces in lawn and garden, including raised beds, and it stores easily for future use. I do give the nails a good spray of WD-40 between uses to make sure there is no future rust.

The spikes are strong and go into the ground easily, especially after watering the lawn the day before. The wide foot plate gives good leverage, and the T-handle feels sturdy when applying pressure. It’s definitely a workout, but it’s much easier and more effective than cheaper rolling aerators I’ve tried. Great option for small to medium yards, though it might be tiring for very large areas. Overall, well-built, easy to use, and helps keep the grass healthy.

This aerator is great! The item comes in three pieces that are very easy to assemble and the spikes are very sharp. I have clay soil with lots of rocks and this tool cut through the ground without an issue. Having this tool handy will help introduce oxygen into my soil so my young trees can access nutrients easier. Great buy, great price, easy to use. Can't go wrong.
