  • I had my doubts, but…
…I absolutely love this blush! It actually feels like it’s moisturizing, although it is applied with a an included brush! I cannot see myself ever going back to the “brush on/comes off” blushes I have tried in the past.

  • Professional makeup artist & avid makeup researcher
Color: Geller's Greatest Blush Crush Size: 2.6 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I am a formally trained professional makeup artist, I attended the Joe Blasco school of professional makeup artisty in Hollywood. There I was trained in beauty makeup for film, photography and everything. I had access to several brands of makeup products from premium brands to brands used specifically for film and photography. So I have been able to experiment with lots of different types and brands. After graduating from the school I began doing my own personal research on makeup brands looking for products that 1. Didn’t settle into fine lines and pores. 2. Had longevity and were able to last for several hours. 3. Improved my skins appearance as I am almost 50 and need products that hydrate and smooth my skin instead of making it look dryer and making the flaws more visibl. 4. I wanted products that looked natural on the skin, and that were talc fee as well as hypoallergenic. 5. Longevity was important as I didn’t want to have to ret touch my makeup every few hours to keep fresh. I also wanted it to last through hot, humid conditions so I was still fresh and ready for my day. Thus, I have been really researching blush for a few months. I have purchased over 20 different blush brands and blush types, tints, creams, cream to powder, powders and hybrid types. I low have been buying drugstore brands and even the most expensive brands such as Dior, Bobby Brown and Maybelline ect. This is what I have learned…avoid anything that has talc as an ingredient, it’s drying, settles into fine lines and won’t leave a hydrated appearance (it’s a cheap filler that can cause acne). Don’t depend on pricier brands to be the most effective because many times your paying for the beautiful packaging and design that the product comes in. Be wary of marketing, some products are so well marketed that the popularity and hype has created fame for something that isn’t that good. Even the best makeup review sites such as Allure, Makeup Alley, New Beauty and Sephora will recommend and promote products that don’t hold up to the hype. I have been sadly disappointed by purchasing makeup from reviews on these sites and been discouraged by the actual effect the product had. Keep in mind cosmetic companies spend millions of dollars in marketing and advertising their products to keep consumer sales up. (I learned just how much from researching this topic) you can literally sell anything if it’s marketed supremely well and if it’s advertised in the industries that best fit the brand, anything in high end beauty magazines, Tik Tok reviews and popular blogs can be seriously misleading to a consumer. The best way to find out what is the best is to actually try it. That means, it needs to be used to figure out if it’s right for you. I suggest going to Sephora and sampling makeup then keeping it on all day to reach your conclusion. I also suggest purchasing the affordable products at drugstores and using them at home to really understand its potential. When I am using a new product at home I always check out how it looks in multiple lighting such as fluorescent, dim, brightly lit rooms as well as outdoors in direct sunlight and on greyer days. That allows ,e to figure out how it looks in all environments. I test it for longevity and water resistance so I wear it all day and if it’s advertised as waterproof, long wearing and sweat proof then I workout with it, and get my face wet to decide how well it works. If it advertises as a product that won’t settle into fine lines, blurs and smooths the skins appearance and hydrates the skin then I skip the primer and moisturizer and look at my skin with a lighted magnifying mirror as well as in direct sunlight to determine if that’s true. I test for transfer resistance onto clothing, I figure out if it leaves any sort of residue that feels sticky. I read all the ingredients and if I don’t know what one is I research it. These experiments may seem like overkill but blush is one of the most important makeup products to utilize to instantly make you look well rested, healthy, brightens up shadows, highlights check bones, eye colors, hair color. It is more effective than concealer, eye makeup, foundation, primer and tinted moisturizer in terms of creating a brighter, well rested more attractive look. It’s my go to product and it has proven to do all the mentioned benefits above when I have been doing a professional makeup application and or experimenting a product on friends and family. It’s the most versatile and important part of a makeup kit. So finding the right color, item form, consistency, ease of application, skin improvement, longevity and a natural look is essential to doing its job. That being said, after reading multiple reviews on beauty sites, consumer reviews, reviews on Amazon, New Beauty, Allure, Sephora and more I was pretty convinced that this blush would meet my expectations and meet the stated benefits advertised. In fact I didn’t even consider sampling it prior to purchasing it, even though it’s exspensive. I wish I had tried it out in my skin prior to buying it. I would have been able to buy two different brands instead for the same price and get to research them. So what I don’t like. 1. The price, it’s too expensive and most people would consider it a splurge. 2. Your paying for beautiful packaging and product design, not the product itself. 3. It has shimmer in it which I always avoid because shimmer looks unnatural, it highlights imperfections, it looks dated and doesn’t look good on most skin types except for those with perfect skin. Even the famous blush made by NARS, called Orgasm has shimmer in it which ruins it. The color is amazing but the shimmer is unflattering. Don’t be fooled by it saying it’s “pearlescent” that is the same as shimmer. 4. The color appears different in the package than when applied to the skin, it has a mixture of different shades in a marblized creation so if you use a brush or finger you easily pick up one of the colors or a uneven set of colors on your brush which can come out looking different on areas of application, anything that is a mixture or blend of multiple colors has the tendency to do that and that is why I prefer a solid shade when choosing blush. This blush came out differently (subtly sometimes more apparent) when I applied it. Thus, I was unable to create a even color on both cheeks, it didn’t match evenly due to the way the marblization was baked into the blush.5. The shades had too much of a pearlescent sheen to them so when you think of a pearlescent sheen, imagine a highlighter, usually a highlighter has lots of pearlescence in them that is what makes them highlight so effectively. So, you usually highlight the top of the cheekbones, the upper brow bone, the inner and out edges of the eye and that is it. Those areas look beautiful highlighted and when applied properly it creates a more youthful, well rested, luminous appearance. If it’s put in the wrong areas, for example areas that you don’t want to make more obvious such as crepey under eye bags, spots with larger pores, skin that has lots of texture and or is unen ect those parts you don’t want to highlight as it makes them more obvious and will draw attention to them. That is why I don’t like blush that has mica, shimmer or pearlescent in their ingredients because they don’t look natural and they end up making imperfections more obvious. This blush is mostly pearlescent in appearance. 5. The colors came out looking much lighter in color than they appear in the compact, so it was definitely confusing to me as to how it would add war,th or a flush to skin if it was so light, it also was crested for someone who has very fair, very light skin tones so it wouldn’t be appropriate for most skin tones out there. I am a warm, medium to light skin tone and I usually prefer blush shades that are suggested for medium skin tones as I want to add a flushed, warmth to my skin. These colors just made me look like I used a pale pink highlighter on my face and imparted no warmth. Lastly, they are not as long wearing as advertised. Yes, they may have the recommended ingredients for a long wearing product. But, it doesn’t last long. I even used a reliable setting spray to improve the longevity and I still found myself having to reapply the blush two times throughout the day. The formulation, which is in a powder form is not meant for mature skin. It settled into my fine lines (I am not very wrinkled and my fine lines are only noticeable when in very bright direct sunlight) however, the combination of the powder formula along with the large a,ounces of pearlescence in the blush made my fine lines and skin imperfections WAY more noticeable. Yes, the product is packaged beautifully, it has a very handy magnetic clasp that allow you to easily open and close the compact, it has high quality mirror and the compact is durable. It looks very pretty and exspensive but it’s very disappointing in terms of the makeup itself. ... show more
