This level is easy to set up and easy to use. it comes with 2 rechargeable battery paks and carry bags for all items. It is satisfactorily bright. It is very visible indoors day or night, but less so outdoors. While the brightness is adjustable, I only used the unit on the brightest level. I tried to use it on a sunny day with partial shade from trees but snow on the ground. So it was pretty bright outside. The beams were only visible at a distance of 10 ft or less. However I then used it on a cloudy day and found the beams visible on a white surface at 35'. Thus outdoor use is limited to cloudy, twilight or dark hours of the day. But for the price, I don't think you can beat it. The level must be close to level, within 3-4 degrees to function properly. However, it beeps when out of level and is quite easy to adjust into level. The unit projects both horizontal (level) and vertical (plumb) lines which are selectable for either or both. The nice thing about using both lines is it projects 2 lines on the floor that are at right angles! There is no receiver for use on bright days.

What you need to know to operate any laser level. First the batteries that come with this are 50 percent working, best to buy alkaline batteries yourself. If unit is not working right, its dead batteries. This laser level self levels, you cant turn this off. What you can turn off is the flashing laser light when off level. This unit constantly wants stay level. It helps if its on a level surface. The 2 green lasers are bright, however they fade away further away they go. This is a 170 degree green cross line laser, with other laser levels they actually project a line 360 degrees evenly bright. 360 degree lasers seem to stay brighter throughout the entire laser line. With this cross line laser, it is good for smaller jobs, rooms. But only projects about 170 degrees. Which they don't tell you this in their description. But makes perfect sense, since it only has one glass window for both lasers both horizontal and vertical. So depends on if this laser level is all you need, or buy the bigger 360 degree laser level for ceiling and big jobs that need 360 degree laser line. This one is really compact for smaller jobs. It will still project a descent bright line, but the horizontal beam laser fades the further extreme right or left. For the price if you need a straight line laser for your smaller jobs or for home use, this one is well worth it, for the price. You cant even buy raw laser parts cheaper than this. No sense in buying red laser levels, green laser levels are the same price now or much less and more visible. This you cant get a better laser level for the price. Depends on if this will work for you. Im using this laser line to cut plywood more accurately and for faster measurements & setup time. This would work well on a panel saw as well.

Overall I'm very pleased with this laser level. It's easy to use and helped me immensely when I was hanging photos. I have two complaints. The instructions are not correct. They say to turn off the auto level, you hold down the left button on the device. In reality, you hold down the center button. I can see why people were complaining about not being able to turn off the auto level. I figured it out through trial and error. My biggest issue is with the tripod that comes with the level. It's okay, but hard to adjust the laser level lines with. I have a much better tripod that I use for photography that I plan to use when I install the next batch of pictures. If you have a good tripod, buy the version without the tripod and use it. For the price it's a very good laser level with tripod. I took away a star mostly because of the incorrect instructions.

Worked real good, very happy with the results. It made things way faster. I didn't have high expectations for anything at this price point. Some tips, make sure battery is seated into the unit. The contacts are very stiff on the new batteries. I spend a bit of time thinking the unit wouldn't power up. Until I realize the battery contacts were so stiff I had to bang on the battery with the palm of my hand inserting it to get it all the way into the unit. Setting it up level to start with is a big help too. It has a small level bubble on the base of the unit. Make sure thats level right from the start. Then setting it someplace stable where its can't get any jarring or bouncing. I tried setting the tripod on a shelf and just genteelly setting tool on and off that same shelf 3-4 foot away while I was working. That was just enough to cause the unit to flicker and re-level for a few seconds. Once I set my tools somewhere else and just let the unit sit undisturbed it worked way smoother. I had to work around 3 walls in a pantry and it was so much easer to work off the laser line rather the hand level around the room. Well worth the $$$

This is an ok lazer level. It works; its self leveling and projects a horizontal and vertical lazer line quickly. However, the lazer is too dim to show up in daylight, works best indoors or if you shade your measuring rod (and even then its hard to see). And, construction is pretty light, I dont think it would survive too many drops or falls. Good value for houshold use or light outdoor use.
