  • Great carryon item, but don't overstuff it
Color: A-black Size: Large
I got this in the large size in black for a work trip. First, it's pretty functional and I do really like all of the pockets and how easy it is to pack it. It's very rectangular...and it feels like you're wearing a rectangle. But it's very easy to pack because it's so rectangular. The laptop sleeve is deep and very well padded and protected. However, the bag became very heavy very fast, and if you have a laptop in the back sleeve compartment, be prepared to walk very upright like you have a board strapped to your back...because you do. Also, the hidden back pocket is basically inaccessible once you put a laptop into the laptop compartment and especially if there is no give elsewhere in the body of the bag. Usually I like to travel carryon only as much as possible, so I'll have a rolling bag as my carry on and a separate bag for my personal item, both as large as possible to maximize carryon capacity. I'll gate check the rolling bag if they ask for volunteers. This backpack was intended to be my personal item on a recent trip I took with about 6 flights, all domestic, ranging from 2-10 hours per flight. It was a relief when I was able to put it on my rolling bag. On my first flight out with this bag, it was really crowded and they needed people to gate check, so I gate checked my rolling bag. It was a good thing I did, because I didn't realize that with this backpack packed to full capacity, it would no longer fit under the seat in front of me. By full capacity I mean that it was full--zippers not bulging but still needed to stuff to get things into each compartment. I thought it would be OK with the compression straps, but it wasn't. I had to put it in the overhead bin and I felt so guilty about that, but it just wasn't going to fit. I was able to put it under the seat on my other legs as long as I didn't stuff it to capacity, and I made sure to take care with packing for the rest of my flights on that trip (although I still ended up gate checking my rolling bag because all of my flights were just that full...welcome to post-pandemic domestic travel, I guess). It's just a little bit too easy to overpack; you mostly need to be careful with not putting too much into the front pocket, and no more than one layer clothing or the equivalent in the main body. You should still be able to compress down; if the compression straps don't need to be tightened then you've got too much inside. Otherwise, this bag was fine for the trip but more awkward and uncomfortable than I anticipated. I think it was an OK purchase overall. It came back looking like it was still brand new. The zippers all still work and the clips are all still perfect. I liked the water bottle pocket. I didn't try to use the USB charging setup and honestly I don't really see myself having a use for it and would prefer it just wasn't there. Be very careful to not overpack if using this as your personal item. Otherwise, it was OK. You could spend your money on worse bags. ... show more

  • Just wow!
Color: A2-blue Size: Large
I can’t say enough good things about this backpack. I ordered the large and wow, does it fit a lot!! I’ve been flying Frontier as a college student and I could fit 2 jeans, 4 tops, my under garments, makeup and toiletries bags, laptop, chargers, and wallet and it fit perfectly in the personal item slot. Make sure you leave more room in the depth of the bag and try to fit things along it’s height and width to make sure it’ll fit in the slot. I like to go and test it out before they call my zone up to board so I can move things around if I have to! So many pockets and so much space. Amazing for road trips too!! Even better for personal items on airlines like United because you can fit so much! Just be careful on the budget airlines that charge you for every little thing! :) ... show more

  • Boxy but fits under plane seat
Color: A5-peacock Blue Size: Medium
I bought this backpack thinking I'd use it to pack less but hahahaha no, that's not my nature. I'll admit, I bought it partly for the color. As for function, the way it fully opens is nice for packing it up (compared to a normal backpack) but I found myself missing the extra pockets of my previous travel backpack. And opening it fully only makes sense when you have the space to lay it flat. On the go, it's easier to lose smaller things if opened fully. The buckle straps on the side do help curb that in upright mode, in the event you unzip too far too quickly. The "wet" front pocket is weird and makes the fabric/bag less flexible - I used it for snacks as I kept my liquids in a clear bag for flights. The most disappointing thing about the one I received (not in ones pictured now, a few months later) is it has a weird insulated zip-closed pocket on the side that *maybe* seems like it would hold a water bottle but no water bottle in the US will fit in it. I'm not sure what it's meant for (a few string cheese maybe? A couple candy/chocolate bars?) I'd rather have an elastic pocket on the side to hold a water bottle, regardless. I like it for travel but not for using it daily, as in exploring while traveling. It doesn't sit right on the body for it to be a "normal" back pack. The medium size isn't too big but it's still kind of big because of the boxy style, if that makes sense. But it fits under seats on American and British Airlines - the glorified bus/shorter flight type planes and as well as the international jets. So that's a win for a sorta suitcase backpack. ... show more

  • Big inside but doesn’t look too chunky
Color: A1-beige Size: Medium
I really like this backpack. I actually bought it for school instead of traveling and my 5 textbooks and a binder and my laptop all fit in it, with ample room left. Crazy thing is, it doesn’t even look that big! I feel like Hermione reaching into a bottomless bag that has everything I need. The shoe pouch is nice too! But it does take up space within the bag’s inside if you use it. Just be aware of that! The quality is very good. I do feel like this color looks more off-white than tan. ... show more

  • Purchased for DC bus trip
Color: A1-beige Size: Medium
Purchased this backpack for my granddaughter to use in her 8th grade class trip to Washington DC. She needed something to use to hold her things on the bus . They rode all night from GA to DC and had to have a pack on the bus to have access to their toiletries and change of clothes for the first day because they would not have access to their suitcases til the hotel on the first night. The pack held all of her needs and was light enough for her to handle all day.. ... show more

  • Buy This One
Color: A1-beige Size: Medium
This back pack is amazing. I love the materials and workmanship and the price! The many different zipper compartments are great and I’ve packed for a week long stay a few times using the compression bags I’ve bought. The only down side is the bottom section they advertise to be for shoes. Like others have said, if you were to put your shoes in there you would not have any space inside the main compartment for your clothes. I just roll up that compartment bag and don’t use it at all. I highly recommend this back pack!! ... show more
