I remember being little and my father tried killing a chicken between the chicken pulling its head back and the hatchet missing its head several times it was a mess that took three attempts. Never thought I would do this again. Saw this thing and figured it would be the way to go. They found a way to get this to ship in a box and multiple pieces requiring assembly 12 screws and you have it all assembled and another three to mount. My only question is why they gave us a screwdriver that's slightly too small to fully torque the screws. I would have preferred they saved the money and not give a toy screwdriver and instead maybe upgrade the nuts to nylock nuts to keep it from rattling apart over time. I would suggest anyone buying this. Get some thread locker on hand or going by nylock nuts. As far as construction goes, it's pretty solid. It feels pretty durable. Doesn't feel flimsy It definitely feels like a quality product. They had the opportunity to cheap out on it but they chose the high road and made the quality product. I don't have a use for more than one of these but if I did I would get another one for sure. It was nice having the gloves and two extra bolts and nuts just in case some were lost during assembly.

Let me start off with saying that we have not put it into actual action yet, as it is still too hot in Florida for dispatching, but here are my first impressions: It has a sturdy and durable metal build. Unlike thinner models, this one resists bending and feels durable, a serious plus for frequent use. Metal is always the best way to go for sanitizing and being able to reuse it season after season. The flat-back design is smart! The cone lies perfectly flat against the wall or a mounting board, making it more stable and easier to secure. Its funnel shape will effectively restrain the bird while guiding blood away from the work area, making cleanup fast and tidy. In terms of size, the term “medium” varies among brands. Some may fit birds 2–7 lbs, others up to 10 lbs. If you process different breeds or sizes, consider multiple cones or verify dimensions before choosing. I think these will be great for some of my smaller breeds but may not be as suitable for my larger breeds like my Bielefelders. Now the downside: There were no instructions. Which way do the nuts and bolts go? Inside or outside? My holes didn't line up perfectly so it took some manpower with the help from my hubby to get it together. Also, there was no washers or hardware for the nuts. Ultimately that is going to come lose without washers. Overall, though, this metal chicken cone is a dependable, hardwearing choice for poultry processing or humane handling. Its robust construction and flat-back design make it a solid choice. However, be sure you have a secure mounting setup and that the cone size suits your birds. With the right prep, it’s a worthwhile addition to your coop gear.

I haven’t had the chance to use this yet since my chickens aren’t ready to process, but I wanted to share my first impressions. The cone feels sturdy right out of the box. It’s made of stainless steel and has a good weight to it—not flimsy or thin. The welds look clean, and there aren’t any sharp edges or rough spots that I could see. The flat back design makes sense for mounting, and it seems like it’ll be easy to secure to a board or wall when it’s time to use it. It also came with a pair of safety gloves, which is a thoughtful addition. Size-wise, this cone is definitely in the medium range. It looks like it’ll be a good fit for processing laying hens and broilers, and possibly smaller turkeys—probably anything up to around 8 pounds, like the listing says. I’ll have a better sense once I actually put it to use, but it looks like it’ll do the job well. Overall, it feels like solid equipment, and I’ll be hanging onto it until my birds are ready. I’ll update later if anything stands out during actual use.

This took about 5 minutes to assemble and was very straightforward. The stainless steel panels are relatively thick and are certainly durable. The notched holes at the top allow the mounting screws to stay in whatever you are mounting the cone to. This is so you can easily remove the cone when not in use and store it somewhere else if needed.

I am very pleased with this stainless steel cone! As others have stated, it doesn't come with instructions, but we gave it to our eight year old as a project and he made quick work with assembling it. The cone feels nice and sturdy and is a nice upgrade from our home made one!

Okay, here’s the honest review. Does it work. Haven’t used it yet, but it’s a fancy funnel so there’s not much to go wrong. I like that it’s stainless so it lends itself to effective sanitation practices. It’s also a suitable gage stainless (don’t know what grade stainless tho) but in the end I suspect it’ll serve its purpose for years to come without issue with a few “modifications”. What modifications you ask? The addition of locking hardware! Yep, they didn’t bother to include 80c worth of lock washers that would prevent the screws from loosening up over time (remember, stainless doesn’t rust so it’s going to happen eventually). Second modification and a personal preference, I installed the screws nuts facing out to make cleaning and disinfecting more thorough. In summary, Is it good value for the money, yes. Is it durable, yes. Would I buy it again, yes.

Good quality. I took one star just because it was assembly required. Any other cone I've gotten has been either molded plastic or spot welded metal. Should work just fine, just requires some assembly.
