Really like this jar but it came with the lid on so tight that it took all our ingenuity to open it! After running the jar under hot water and fortunately my husband is strong and he was able to pull the lid off, jar is ok and I’m keeping it but I’m a bit concerned going forward if this will be an issue and we will have difficulty opening and closing it. ... show more

I'm a chocoholic who's also something of a klutz, so I try to avoid glass when shopping for a new candy container. I wanted a candy jar that was 1) acrylic, so it would be as close to "unbreakable" as possible, 2) not too large, 3) reasonably inexpensive(< ≈ $20 USD), and 4) lidded, for cleanliness. This one checks all of the boxes. It's made of sturdy, clear, shiny acrylic that looks like glass, without glass's fragility. The size (see my photo of the jar next to a 7.5-oz. soda can for reference) is just right to accommodate a generous handful of small candies like Hershey kisses, Rolos, etc. without taking up much space. I appreciated the low price, for such good quality. The lid, which can fit snugly if pushed down, keeps flies, which are numerous where I live (Dallas TX) and like chocolate too, off of my goodies. The walls and lid of this jar feel fairly heavy and should stand up to some use. The clasp and seal, though, are disappointingly wimpy. It doesn't close super tight and the silicone ring is small and gets easily dislodged.
