  • Fun little amp!
I bought this tube amplifier to begin to explore tube amp sounds/tones again after about 40 years hiatus using only solid state amplifiers. I can say with certainty I have not been disappointed. The Laney Cub Super 12 is super easy to use and understand how to change the tones one gets from this little marvel. I have even gone so far as to upgrade to their 2x12 cabinet for this model and it makes it only sound better/bigger. I would certainly advise anyone looking for tube amp sound quality to investigate this little gem....you will be happy you did! ... show more

  • Tube Amp Goodness
I didn’t buy this amp from Amazon but from a local music store. This is a British amp with a lot of options. Two inputs a 1 watt and a 15 watt. The 1 watt is plenty for home use. This amp takes pedals well. I also considered a Fender Blues Junior and did a A B comparison between the two. The Laney is every bit as good as the blues junior, but I paid $150 less than a what a blues junior coats. If this amp had a negative it’s that it doesn’t come with a foot switch and the reverb is digital. I use pedals so the digital reverb isn’t a big deal. The foot switch on the other hand comes with the blues junior but. It the Laney and it’s roughly $65 extra. ... show more

  • Big sound, great tone, little amp
Bought this Laney Cub Super12 in early 2021 and I have no regrets. In full disclosure, I've been playing on Laney amps for several years, starting with the Cub 10, so I'm sure I have some bias for the sound of Laney amps. I upgraded to the Super12 for a few reasons. Those key upgrade / differences for me are... 1) The effects loop, which has taken a ton of noise out of my signal 2) The onboard spring reverb is amazing (tip - buy the foot switch) 3) The onboard boost which gives that extra oomph on solos and key lead licks (same tip - buy the foot switch) 4) It attenuates down to < 1W. Even at the output, it still has a huge sound. And mic'd up in smaller venues, sound is plenty big and serves as my monitor (and I stand right next to the drummer). But the attenuation also makes for great at home practice. 5) Same great Laney tube sound. I will say the older Cub 10 model had more clean headroom, but the added features here are tough to beat at the price point. My only complaint is the cabinet isn't great. It handles effects well, but the sonic range feels just a tad bit tight. That said the Super12 can also serve as just a head amp and go direct to a larger cabinet if that's your jam. So all in all there's a ton of flexibility in this combo amp. And it has a solid build quality with a clean, classic look. Paid $500 for it new, and while there are better amps in this sound / power range, they are either much heavier and/or way more expensive. For the amateur musician that still plays regularly, this amp gets it right on the value scale. Tons of features that make jamming simple, easy and fun. ... show more
