We had to come up with a way to make the regular wet and dry cat food and treats inaccessible to our older cat on a special diet for chronic kidney disease. (At 17 years old and with arthritic knees, Presley does all of his climbing and jumping in his dreams.) This station is attractive, sturdy (our other three cats are all over 15 pounds), priced well, arrived quickly, is easy to keep clean, and was easy to assemble. I'm using the bottom compartment for cat toys in a large bin, the bottom two shelves (unreachable by Presley) as dining spaces, and I made a tie-on cushion in outdoor fabric for the top perch (since the station is in front of a window with a view of the bird feeders). I found a narrow ladder shelf in the same laminate and black metal; it is alongside the feeder and the three cats use it as an additional access route to the feeding station and the windowsill; our three oversized cats can fit through the round passageways but rarely use them. I added black tension rods between the metal bars below the second shelf. The tension rod on the kitchen side has a curtain and a "Black Cat Cafe" sign on a chain. The tension bar on the other side holds cat toys on binder rings. The enclosed cubby is too small for our cats, so I put the bin with their interactive toys and chargers inside the cubby. (If you have a normal 10-12-pound cat or cats, you could add a cushion and create a lounging area in the cubby. I added colorful non-slip cat placements in front of the feeding bowls and to the shelf above. The tray under the bowls helps make the feeding station easy to clean. The raised bowls in the feeding station are shallow. I added silicone (non-slip) circular mats to the metal bowls provided and I put their wet food bowls on top at feeding time. That way, their bowls don't slip around while they are eating and I can just grab and wash their used bowls. So, the cats have a feeding/play/bird-watching station. When I view the feeding station from the kitchen, I see a dark wood and metal shelf with a top cushion and a curtain panel/sign that coordinate with the room decor. When I view the feeder from the living room, it looks like a dark wood and metal shelf with a louvered cabinet on the bottom and a cushion on top. (You can see the cat placemats and bowls if you look closely but they also coordinate with the room decor and, because of the curtain panel on the side and wall behind it, the first shelf (with the built-in bowl holder) is dimly lit. I'm doing my best to provide an attractive, livable space for people and kitties. So far, the kitty complaint box is empty -- except for the never-ending requests for more lap time, petting, and treats.

Our cat loves this. Is uses it way more than I actually thought he would. He is an older cat so I wasn't sure about him getting to the top, but he used a nearby table for that. The top surface is smooth so we did use double sided tape to stick a blanket to it. And his new sleeping area is the bottom level, although we did need to place blankets there also.

Product came in with a broken door, missing parts and horrible instructions with just pictures to go by. Would not recommend, especially for the amount of money they are charging for it.
