  • Nice thermos bottle for bike riding
Size: 17 Ounces Color: Blue
I bought the 17 oz version of this bottle for use while bike riding. It fits a standard water bottle holder for bikes, and I had no problem with it rattling against the metal holder too much (something I was concerned about). After using it twice now during 17 mile rides in 90 degree weather, I found it kept the water cold for the entire ride. 17 oz isn't a lot of water if you plan a much longer ride than what I do, but I found it just about right for my usual distance. I used cold water and ice the first time (5 cubes), but it makes screwing on the top trickier because of the interior straw, and besides, the ice wasn't completely melted even after 3 hours, so that's water that I couldn't sip, and since then I used only refrigerator cold water without ice, and it was well cold enough without the ice. The construction is very good and attractive, I had no problem using the quick release for the flip top spout, although the diagrams for the release were misleading, causing me to initially think that the flap used to close the spout was the release button (it is not!), and the picture of the bottle didn't actually show the button, which is below the grab loop and on the edge of the cap. Once I looked it over good, I saw the button, and slapped my forehead for missing it based on the confusing diagram. Overall, I really like the bottle, and would recommend it. ... show more

  • Excellent stainless steel water bottle
Size: 12 Ounces Color: Yellow
I ordered two of these for my two small children. I love having a sturdy water bottle to take on the go, I liked the stainless steel option to both keep their water cold, and also hold up to the beating they will take from my 4 year old and 17 month old. I also like that they are not plastic, and will not leach anything into the water. The spout is soft, but does not need to bitten down on to open, like a Camelbak. They are easy to open and close, and my 17 month old had the hang of it (much to his delight) after less than a minute of me showing him, after which he continued to open and close for another 10 minutes! The spout and straw can all be taken apart for thorough cleaning, but on a daily basis, I have found simply removing the straw from the lid and using my straw brush to clean up through the mouthpiece effective enough. They get a more thorough cleaning occasionally, but it is a minor pain to remove the plastic collar around the mouthpiece in order to remove it from the lid. As others have stated, the handle is a bit sharp, and digs in when carrying it by a finger, as most people would do. My only other complaint is the straw is rough on both ends, where it is apparent it was cut to fit the bottle size. For the price and overall quality, I would have expected better for something as simple as a straw. It just needs a little buffing to smooth it out. All in all, very good water bottles, and ones I would purchase again! ... show more

  • Love/Hate this bottle
Size: 12 Ounces Color: Yellow
I have a love/ hate with this insulated water bottle. We use a lot of camelbak water bottles in our house, but gave the insulated Laken a try for my 18 month old son to use so that his milk and smoothies do not get warm. Love: - The insulation - as described, works beautifully. Especially with an ice cube inside, this stays cool and fresh for several hours. - Easy to clean - (easy enough, by comparison to similar products) As described, no smells remain after cleaning. Love this quality of materials. - Lightweight - great for my young child Hate: - Because this is not a bite straw, or because of some other reason that has to do with pressure and temperature on the interior and exterior of the bottle, this water bottle spews milk all over the place if I am not careful. I tend to try to pressurize it by unscrewing it, letting the straw empty, and then screwing it back on. If I forget, when I open it up, I get a volcano of milk on myself. Especially if it is a hot day. - The button never works properly. We have to stick our finger into the top of the lid and slide the mechanism into place prior to locking closed the straw mouth piece. This means my son cannot close it himself. Neither can half his daycare providers because they may not know about the workaround. It's either defective or poorly designed. I don't know because this is the only bottle of its kind I've ever used. Until I speak to someone who uses this and loves it, I probably won't buy another, despite how much I love the insulation and quality of the bottle itself. Edit, 2/24/16: We still use this bottle after 6 months, with the same opinions/ frustrations and some new ones. Still give it 3 stars for great insulating quality. Still have the same issues with it working properly and now it also leaks around the base of the cap. Keeps milk cold, but dumps it everywhere. We treat this bottle like an open cup and we are OK, but it means we can't take it anywhere. ... show more
