    • So far, working great
I bought this because my other pond pump quit working in the middle of winter. I have heaters in my pond to keep it deiced, but I need air/oxygen in it too, especially through the winter when my fish and frogs are hibernating in the pond. So far this pump has been working great. I bought a different, larger diffuser end to attach to the hose underwater that continually puts out millions of tiny bubbles. I have a Styrofoam cooler placed upside down over the top of this pump (with a "door" cut out for the hosing and outlet cord) to keep the snow off of the pump. I placed a brick on the cooler to keep it from blowing off in the wind. The cooler keeps snow and rain off of the pump. It's very cold here, in the 20's and this pump is working just fine. I like this pump because it allows you to set the amount of air bubbles you want going into your pond. The highest level of air bubbles is a lot!! Way too much for my large pond. I was able to adjust the air flow down to a nice level that was not swirling the water rapidly around and disturbing the hibernating inhabitants, yet giving them enough air bubbles to oxygenate their water well. This seems to be a great pump for the money. I'm hoping this pump saved my fish and frogs from dying. I had to wait 5 days, after my other pump quit, to get this one. We will see in the spring if they are all still alive. Update: Fish and frogs survived the cold winter and are doing well. This is a great pump, very powerful and very quiet. I believe this pump helped to save my pond inhabitants while hibernating through the winter. I am quite happy with this pump. In the freezing winter, this pump did fine with the styro- foam cooler over it to protect it from the cold, snow, ice, wind, and rain. I left the styrofoam igloo cooler over the pump to protect it and in the heat of the summer too. It keeps the pump from getting to hot.     • Keeping It Cool Is A Must
On my second one now, the first fell apart after 5 years. But, it gets heavy use 10 hours a day in my 3700 gallon outdoor pond in Southern California, where constant aeration and filtering are a must. Word to the wise, keep it in the shade. It overheats and the thermal protection kicks in rather quick in the desert southwest unless you have it covered. I have it mounted in a large PVC irrigation enclosure (Home Depot bought) that I've ventilated with holes in the north facing side, and is partially shaded. It runs in the evening through the night until about 10 am. For many years I would lose a few huge Koi in the hottest days of the summer, before I bought this. I have a 2.5 hp filtration pump that runs 9 hours a day. But, since adding this pump and three emitters that run in conjunction with my filtration system, I haven't had any issues. (knock on wood). two fo the feet on the bottom were off when we received the item so it did not work. we had to take it apart and put it back together for it work the way it was supposed to.

I’d say 95% quiet for this behemoth. I removed 10 other 15 watt air pumps for my 1100g and just bought a second Laguna 75. Made by Hagen, yep the same who is Fluval I just found out. See pic.
