I have not owned, or used this type of label maker in YEARS. I have used printable computer labels. Something (a few things) about this one intrigued me. This is not the average 70's 80's 90's label maker. One, it comes already pre-loaded CARTRIDGE, plus extras... I really like that, because it gave me a chance to test/try it out with just random numbers, letters, and symbols (including the @ sign). Also, the tape sticks very well (as long as common sense/on a clean surface). The only couple things (one is a plus that I have to get used to) is that you can't see what you have "printed". The other.. thinking about it, is another plus: If you decide to print one character, then cut... have to turn it over, and shake it out of the printing end. That is VERY good, so that I don't waste more sticker than I need/have a 2 inch end, on a one character label, that I would have to use scissors to cut. Also, the back end cust, and makes it easy to expose the "sticky side". I also like the letters to backing color contrast.

This embossed label maker is totally old school and I love it. I selected this for junk journaling, and so I could make my own smalltalk snippets á la Tim Holtz. The design is ergonomic and the characters are well marked EXCEPT for the scissors icon that cuts the tape. It is literally under 3mm in length and about 1mm high. For the sight impaired this is not helpful, so I took away one star for that. The instructions are easy to follow and there is even a "troubleshooting" section for common problems, which looks to be well-intentioned. The tape is easy to replace by pulling back the transparent cover for the tape receptacle to access the roll of label tape. The maker works only with 3/8" tape, which I presume is a standard size for embossed labelmakers. If the scissors icon was not so small, and perhaps they put a color like a red square to indicate the cutting placement, I would not have removed a star. It just seems like a bad design choice that could be addressed better. I do like that they have included characters that are important to the Internet like the "@", the "/", the "-", and the "." There are also "!", "#", "$", single quotes and double quotes, but there is NO question mark! "?". Doh!

It’s ok, but I would like it better if the letters were aligned. You can see in the photo how they look crooked. Also, be sure to add extra spaces after the word otherwise it won’t cut it right (see the lower example). I would also have liked it if it had them “&” sign.

I didn't know my kid even knew what one of these was, so I was surprised when he asked for one. I was even more surprised to find one easily available! Unfortunately now EVERYTHING in my house is labeled! He went on a frenzy, and has been at it for days. I'm sure the novelty will wear off eventually and he'll forget this thing exists, but it has provided hours of entertainment for a bored teenager, so that's good! It's easy to use and works just like I remember the old ones to work back in the day. The adhesive is sticky enough that we've both had labels stuck on our cell phone cases for days with no sign of them coming off. I just hope he never finds out that you can obtain other colors of tape for the thing, or this may never end!

the embossing label device is easy to use and does not require electricity. Came with 1 roll of label preinstalled. But let say it were not, it's easy to install it. Open the handle and insert the roll. Feed until it stops. Now nothing is coming out yet. Turn the knob to space and squeeze the handle and it should feed through. There only upper case letters, numbers, and some symbols. I like that the label is embossed white font on black background making it easy to read. I use a knife and it's easy to peel the backing as the labels already has adhesive ready to put on items. However, there are some obvious flaws. You will need to insert 1 space before and after you finish, and then use a scissor to trim off the excess. Also, the letters are not aligned correctly. I made a label for my pencil box and the O is lower than the rest of the letters. On my screwdriver, the W & D are too close together. The K in milk is higher and the C in coffee is lower. For the price I am giving a 5 star. It also comes with a 4 extra rolls of labels in the one i got.

I was super excited about this one, its just fun. Makes simple straightforward looking labels and it comes preloaded and with plenty of replacement tapes. I would more realistically give it 4.5 stars because it could use improvements, but i think its worth trying if practical simple labels are what you need. I do wish it felt a little more solid, I'm afraid to squeeze it too hard. And I wish I could see the letter I was typing as I did it, probably just user error and needing practice, but I did retype some letters thinking it wasn't there yet (see my terribly spelled test piece in the pictures).

Embosser letters do not align straight. When I make a space it cuts and leaves no spacing after and finished cut. Not a quality product.
