  • One step forward, two steps back, in finding the "perfect pant"
Size: 36W x 36L Color: Coyote
I wanted to love these pants, truly I did. But let's get the emotion out of it and get down to facts. MY STATS: 6'4" | 210 lbs | ~12% body fat | athletic build | 35" waist | 35" inseam | 26" thighs | 17" calves STATIC FITMENT: I ordered a size 36x36, and from a literal measurement standpoint, they fit exactly as expected - they were appropriately snug at my waist, and they reached the floor (not wearing footwear). DYNAMIC FITMENT: This is where things went wrong. These felt like they were painted on me - I didn't quite have to jump into them from the second floor to get them up to my waist, but there was definitely no wiggle room. Doing a standing butt-kicker (heel to butt) put tremendous tightness into the front of the thigh and knee. And while squatting (just knees to 90°, not even butt-to-grass), the back of the waist sank far, far below the point of "plumbers crack" - it approached "you can relieve yourself without unbuttoning" territory. That's without a belt (meaning, with a belt, it dug horrendously into my low back during the same squat). Basic maneuvers like a walking lunge, climbing steps, waist-level front kick, all felt restricted in these pants. PROS: + 7 belt loops (can we make this a standard on all pants?!) + Hidden tuxedo elastic expansion waist (this should also be standard) + "Mechanical stretch" material had more yield than I expected (but still not enough for a comfortable fit) + Measurements for waist/length were on point CONS: - No room to move (unless you're a toothpick who skips leg day); much too close/tight of a seat, thigh, and calf cut - Zipper feels chintzy/sticky (especially compared to the Atlas STS pant), and the zipper pull is quite small (hard with bare fingers, never mind if you're wearing gloves) - Cargo pockets can't even fit my hand (the whole "expansion panel" thing doesn't really work) never mind actual storage. Each of the Atlas STS cargo pockets can hold 2 sets of keys, a stuffed tri-fold wallet, my boonie hat, and still have some room. The pockets on these barely held the wallet. - Cargo pockets lack the 2 interior organizer pockets of the Atlas STS - I prefer zipper cargo pockets to velcro flaps (and these have velcro); I don't like how items can slip past (and get lost) with a flap. Zipper = item security. OVERALL: I wish more companies did what Duluth does - offer the exact same styled item in 3 cuts/fits ("skinny hipster", "normal", and "comfortable"). To me, the perfect LAPG pant would be: * The generous cut of the Atlas STS * The same cargo pockets of the Atlas STS (roomy without "expansion panel", zippered, sub-divided interior) * The sturdy button and zipper of the Atlas STS * The 7 belt loops and tuxedo waist of the Battle Rattle * The mechanical stretch material of the Battle Rattle ... show more

  • The best
Size: 44W x 30L Color: Black
I have worn uniform pants for the past 25 years. I have worn all different styles from straight slack to BDU. I’ve never had a pair of pants fit so nice and looks so good. I’ll be moving to only use these from now on.

  • Thinner cut legs, good fit, great for the gym and shop work
Size: 40W x 32L Color: Charcoal
I’m 6’1” tall and 210 pounds. Former ice hockey goalie, current and life long weight lifter. 38 inch waist, 46 inch chest. I bought the 40x32. Next pair would be 38x32 be use these pants have some waist give and I’m not fat, just big. I like these tac pants because they are thinner cut in the legs and they fit me better than “relaxed fit” versions. The material sheds dust and water and use them at the gym and in my wood shop. A quick hit with the compressed air and saw dust blows off leaving the pants clean and fresh looking. Wise they were $10 - $15 cheaper and I’d buy another 2-3 pair. Going to watch the prices for a bit and see if they dip. Hope that helps! ... show more

  • Good pants, wrong label in them
Size: 34W x 36L Color: Navy
Ordered 34 x 36, and that’s what the label says, but they are 34” inseam. Unfortunately that seems to be the case with other set I bought from another seller. Other than the length issue, I love the material and quality of craftsmanship.

  • Great new design, close to perfect pants.
Love the stretch fabric and love the stretch waist. I work in a very hot humid environment with a lot of squat walking, so the crotch on these pants is probably more important to me than to most people. LOL. The height of the crotch seam is perfect, even when squatting and walking. A lot of modern “tac pants” the crotch seam is too high and rakes your beanbag doing certain moves. Battle rattle pants are by far the most comfortable cut and material I’ve found recently. And I’ve tried a half dozen new pants this year. I don’t hate the pocket layout for the most part, like I do in most unfamiliar designs. The knife pocket is nearly perfect, it’s just the right size and height, but it’s back just a little too far. It’s behind the meat of the back of my thigh, so a pocket clip knife gets pressed hard and smooshed into the seat cushions in my truck. I’ve only worn them half a dozen times so far but I really like them. Only real gripe is the fabric is thick and hotter than I’d like, but my job is hotter than most and hopefully this means they’ll last longer. I also got the new BFE pants at the same time and love some things about those better. Combine the best parts of both and you have a perfect pant. Either on their own are both great, and nearly perfect. Good purchase, I’ll probably buy more. ... show more

  • Crotch and pants around thighs is way too tight
Size: 36W x 32L Color: Charcoal
Ordered in my size and found that the waist of the pants is on the baggy side and constantly want to fall down but the crotch and thigh of the pants is tight. It feels like you’re wearing skinny jeans in that area. Overall quality of the pants is good but the cut of them is not comfortable

  • Excellent pants
Size: 28W x 30L Color: Khaki
Flexible, plenty of pockets, semi water repellent. I bought several pairs, the oldest is a year old now and used 5 days a week. Washed 4 times a week and still going strong!
